  1. Like Yoto said unless someone has moved/changed it a compression release is used to cycle the engine just past the compression peak to kick start the bike. So if you were simply kicking the bike to start, it doesn't have a compression release lever.
  2. I think it comes down to personal preferance. Most people who dual sport ride have tried several types of bikes before they really figure out just what works for them. The 400 to 650 range is a great starting point in DS bikes because they are able to do highway speeds and still preform well offroad. Most experienced riders I have looked to as teachers have proven the point again and again, "It's not the bike it's the rider".
  3. V-stroms are great, relativly bullet proof bikes for the price but will not do what other DS bikes can simply because of lack of ground clearance. Meef takes good care of his bikes, I know. I have one and have owned two that he had.
  4. Were you and Jbot riding the same bike? I've seen 250's with and without compression release levers and some where they had replaced the release with an auto release switch.
  5. Well done Jbot. The yz250 is a hell of a starter but then again I got the 426 so I know how you must of felt. At least it doesn't sound like yours has a compression release, a whole other animal. Oh, and in time the boots break in and become much more comfortable. Rep to you!
  6. Yeah, in ADV it's all about how big a post whore you can be, oh wait, how many posts do I have there?

  12. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the ability to motard the DR yet. Especially all the people whinning about how they want a motard. Here's an example I found online of a 03 converted motard.
  13. I could not find the Hornet on the IP site nor have I ever seen it in the store.
  14. Spider bites are no joking matter. Here is a picture of my 100 lb doberman a few years back after a spider bite. He was lucky it didn't kill him but three years later he still has a 3 inch long scar. See a doctor, there venom is worse in many ways than a snake bite.
  15. I'm waiting for them to get the full face of/off road helmets like Arai XD3 or Shoie Hornet DS. I'm picky about my helmets and want to try them on before I buy one. Plus I want to make sure with the shield up I can still wear MX gogles. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000W4QJYA/ref=dp_otherviews_2?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&img=2][/ame]
  16. Thanks, I applied but was rejected by their computers for lacking a masters and experience in waste water volumerability assesment ( appears to be a military contract). I have worked for Battelle before and wouldn't mind returning.
  17. I've applied several times at Scotts but it appears every time they are promoting from within. Well, I used to average 50-60 hours a week, so 40 would be a nice break.

  20. If I remember the story right the Snake was trying to eat the Croc before it was totally dead and it kind of burst out the side of the snake. Either way both animals died.
  21. Thanks, that's some good info. Would it be presumptious to assume you might have resources to keep us better informed on when and where a ride to show support for our cause would be most usefull?
  22. In defense of the past president and Republicans here I offer the Top ten reasons Bush wasn't involved in the loss of the 2016 Olympics for Chicago: 10. Golf weather in Texas 9. Chainy was hunting nearby in Wisconsin 8. He's more into beef than pizza:p 7. Left wing Democrats patrol the border of Chicago and Ill. with orders to throw homeless people at him to keep him out. 6. Bush can't spell Olymics, Olipics, Olymnics, Of fuck "those games" 5. Oil season in Texas 4. No republicans left to visit there:wtf: 3. Bush prefers the X-Games! 2. They got rid of Baseball and Softball so his teams won't be there. and the Number reason Bush wasn't involved in the loss of the 2016 Olympic games to Chicago..... 1. Opra still has a hit out on him. It's fun to make fun of all politicians because there just people with big titles.
  23. Wasn't me, but I guess Obama supporters can't take a joke. It's only funny when it doesn't effect their representative. I though Bush pulled some classic but I don't think Obama is too good to be made fun of either. + rep for you ^^
