  1. Not anymore. Over the weekend I had 3 bulbs fail. If that's the only problem I have on track, I'll gladly take it.
  2. Yup... no better shop in the whole damn town
  3. This was the car my parents drove me home in when I was born in Brooklyn . My dad's was that burgundy/brown looking color. Car lived until about 1998 or 1999 when my uncle totalled it
  4. Yeah boy! have you done any of these? It was so much fun
  5. A week ago, I was at an autocross with a coworker and I saw stickers on his car for this series. I had forgotten about it so I talked to him. I found out the next round was the following weekend (oct 4th and 5th) at Pittsburgh International Raceway (formerly BeaveRun Motorsports Complex) just 3hrs away.... I registered and prepped There are 5 events over a weekend... autocross, speed stop (short autocross with a stop box), a design judging, a road rally and a road course. There are 3 official classes: over 3k lbs, under 3k lbs and AWD. Rules are pretty open. Car must be legally registered in any state, must have valid insurance, and must be on 200 treadwear tires minimum. In theory a Dauer Le Mans Porsche 962 would be legal An unofficial class is the Exhibition class. I ran in that class, and apparently I won it! Results are here http://driveusca.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Pittsburgh-Results-Release-Final.xlsx It was a great time running against (mostly) muscle cars of the Pro Touring persuasion. They were mostly surprised how well I was wheeling my M3. They were all very welcoming and nice. The competition was hardlly fought, sure, but the people made it a supremely good time. There were about 60 cars, which was a very high number! Saturday rained a bit for the autocross and speed stop events. Rain was on and off. My autocross experience let me clock in my fastest time on my 2nd run, before rain could mess up any chance of improving. I was 1st in class, and about 7th or 8th overall... I could have been higher up if it didn't start sprinkling on my fastest run. See the results above! Speed Stop was a killer for me. this course emphasized POWER. Aside from a GTI (maybe) I was the most underpowered car there at ~205whp. See the Results above! The road rally was probably the most relaxed event. The organizers emphasized all you need to do is finish without being caught breaking the law and you get max points. It basically was a procession over 21 miles of gorgeous leaf covered back PA roads. It wasn't a hardcore TSD rally. My co-driver put together this awesome video from over 3,000 photos with his Go Pro The road course was pretty fun. I had never driving this track before but it's tougher than it looks. One car was a victim of running out of talent
  6. Their intent is normally funny reactions. This was real and touching.
  7. Whatever normally makes prank videos. They wanted to surprise strangers with a random Ferrari ride from their bus stop. This war vet flipped the script on them
  8. Ohio is mostly flat but South East Ohio (Hocking, Logan, Muskingum, etc counties) is full of nice hills and fantastic views. There was barely any traffic out, and gravel was barely present. We had a Honda CBR600 F3, a Suzuki SV650s, a Yamaha R1, a KTM Super Duke, a Ducati 1199S Panigale Tricolore, and my Ducati 748. From Zanesville, we hit SR555 heading south , then SR550 all the way to Athens to get Jimmy John's. Then we took US-33 back up into Columbus. there was some light rain in the morning on the way to SR555 (commonly known as the Triple Nickel), but it stayed dry the rest of the morning and early afternoon. It was a great time. In retrospect, we should have gone to Miller's Chicken
  9. I spun my M3 once taking the on-ramp from 315N going onto I-270W in the winter. It was 2011 I'm convinced this was the look on the driver behind me's face http://24.media.tumblr.com/c2280ed70bb738f0758577ff6d03f70e/tumblr_n4ysbgkSfp1sky7ayo1_500.gif
  10. I can see Paul's BRZ in one of those photos :shifty:
  11. After the game, both teams on both sides of the field together to face their bands as they played their alma maters Sportsmanship FTW!
  12. At what RPM is the VANOS being turned off now?
  13. Crap... I'm committed to an autocross tomorrow but I'd love to know any future dates... Please do keep me posted on future events
  14. My understanding is that these wire fences, because of the tensile requirements of the cables, are more expensive than Jersey Barriers to install. They're maybe less to upkeep when damaged though, so I dunno Motorcycle riders hate them because of things like this happening. Also, a coworker of mine, who lunches with me, told me he saw the head himself as he was driving by there on Saturday afternoon/evening, before 1st responders had even gone by. That was way before I had even heard of the story on the news or seen that photo or anything (I was at a wedding in Cincy) He probably went quickly, and barely felt a thing. I don't know if he decided to off himself or if he simply ran out of talent and just lost control since that 1st gen Viper is known to be tough to handle and very spartan. It doesn't help that it didn't have Traction Control or ABS. RIP, random family man I didn't know
