  1. For novice you just need blue painters tape for the bike. As for gear you should already have a helmet, you may have gauntlet gloves if not pony usually has some killer discounts for less than $50, boots just need to cover the ankle, I have seen work boots on track, suit you can rent or maybe borrow, rental is around $35.
  2. If he is doing novice he doesn't have to do the antifreeze so should only take 5 minutes.
  3. Yep, I got one because at $35 a day for rental adds up quick.
  4. license is $100 I would think the WERA school would be fine but I would contact Todd about it. Make sure you let him know when you took it and that you have still been doing trackdays since then. Yes, Todd sells pirelli and they have a dunlop rep and somewhat of a bstone, michilen, conti rep. They can all change tires for you.
  5. As for crashing, treat it like a street ride with a really wide road and everyone goes the same direction. DONT'T ride over your head and focus on what you are learning. As for getting ready some of the orgs have different things they require so you may want to check out the orgs site to see what needs done. Here are a few examples. : http://motoseries.com/trackday_info.htm and http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/track-day-regulations.html As for gear 1 or 2 pc suit (2 pc must zip together)(these can also be rented for $35 or so per day, riding boots that go above the ankel, damage free DOT or SNELL helmet, gauntlet gloves with full wrist coverage. For the novice rider on some of the orgs it is a lead follow for the first 4-5 20 min sessions. After that you can go on your own (with the instructors still floating around) or you can still do the lead follow and mix it up a little with you going in front for a little and the instructor getting back in front of you to try and help.
  6. I have see plenty of people that never get out of second gear (this includes the back straight at mido and the front straight at grattan). You go talk to them when the day is over and they had probably the best time of anyone there.
  7. Brian, I know one thing I have heard from people I have tried to get to go is they feel they may be really slow. With the novice group it's not so much about speed but just learning what they are teaching you.
  8. So it's just a love fest in your trailer. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  9. I will be at the beaver event for sure. I can't make grattan due to a race. I could do either mido or putnam dates. Wish I could do the grattan one.
  10. I'm not sure how quick the beaver events for motoseries fill up. They were full but I'm sure there were still openings 2 months before.
  11. I will be at the June 25th beaverun event, I might be able to make the putnam one pending the family vacation.
  12. 2 days are nice, even better if you can camp. That way peeps can hang out after the first day and BS about the day.
  13. As long as I'm not going elsewhere I should be able to make it to wherever.
  14. I'm shocked you added gingerman to the poll.
  15. The thought of WERA makes my vagina hurt though.
  16. I plan on hitting up a few WERA rounds this year, probably just to watch. I would love to run a round with WERA but I still feel off pace looking at the times.
  17. You better show up on a day with better weather than last year, I want to see the RC8R out there.
  18. Grattan is one of my favorites, I can't wait to run it with the total repave.
  19. I'm glad to see we are all allowed to have an opinion. And if you would look back to the "not as bad as people say" quote it was directed towards the bumps. Not everyone that goes into the grass ends up crashing there, yes there are ruts but I have seen people run off and get back on track. I'm not trying to turn this into some sort of pissing match, I just feel that people should make their own decision on a place. Hell I kept hearing how bad the place was, I finally went for myself in 2009. It's nice for me because it's close and I can race there and not have to spend a ton of money trying to stay competitive
  20. Don't worry, I have seen him ride, 1:15's aren't going to happen.
  21. Sounds like your ass needs to go faster so people don't stuff ya. It wider than you think, I have been pushed wide, it's not like there is a single bike width line around the track.
  22. I don't listen to other people due to over exaggeration. Are there bumps, yes, is it as bad as everyone says, no not if you run the right part of the track.
  23. You don't even know what nelsons is like.
