The gopro is an option, the ohlins is a must for all novice. Even the ones that don't go over 55mph on the straights. Also for novice, you must have slicks and race fuel.

I just hit the ohio turn pike, I shoot up 23 out of toledo to avoid the rest of the turn pike for both grattan and gingerman. I then hit 94 for gingerman and 96 for grattan.
I still can't bring myself to buy rain tires, I just keep a set of street tires for rain days. If the track is wet enough for rain tires this means it is raining pretty good and I probably won't go out.
If you can, you may want to unplug or pull the fuse to your headlight and tail light. This just helps so the painters tape doesn't get baked on and some orgs don't want to be able to see the tail light through the tape.
