  1. I'm not sure- It's quite possible that the old ones would work if I reversed them, but I'll buy yours too if they're any taller. How much would you want for the bars and risers?
  2. It may be cheaper than I think, I don't doubt that. But it's still probably more than I'd be willing to pay for something that I have no clue what it would look like. I'm trying to photoshop black onto a pic of it now, but I fail horribly because I suck at image software. It's definitely not something I'd undertake unless I was damned sure I'd like it. And I definitely wouldn't stove paint it. My buddy's just a redneck like that. We used spray-on plasticoat on his Triumph frame. Interesting stuff.
  3. Lmao, I can't rock the ape hangars, my damned arms would go to sleep. And I think you have to have crazy rake with a longass frontend to get away with those. My lil stock Shadow just isn't that cool. Although my buddy's now trying to convince me to stove-paint all the chrome. Heh.
  4. Word, may have to check that out. Good call.
  5. Yeah, but Iron Pony (if I'm searching that gawdawful website right) doesn't have anything below 200 bucks. Fuck some that. I'm doin things the po' folks way. JC whitney had stuff for under 50 bucks, but they were all too narrow. Ugh. Fake edit: Apparently I didn't find the right stuff-- IP's website is really terrible.
  6. Any trustworthy ones you've dealt with? I've not bought much online for this bike.
  7. Yep, but finding drag bars that are wide enough on ebay has been a bit elusive at the moment. I think I'ma go to the hardware store tomorrow and buy some heavy 1-inch pipe and a can of gloss black krylon. I'll try that and see if I like it while I keep looking for drag bars. In this house, the motto is 'semper gumby'! (always flexible) We're also building an upper bearing race out of a brass doorstop for my buddy's Triumph. Duct-tape customs, baby!
  8. Hurr hurr ayn rand hurr hurr. Sorry, that seems to slip out every time someone says Libertarian around me. Oops, I've been drinking and my politeness filter's shorting out.
  9. Nah, she's totally right. I wanna hear him spell out exactly what it is he hates. In crystal clear, illuminating detail.
  10. Lol, maybe it's improved since I left.
  11. Having grown up there, I can say that's the first time I've ever heard anyone voice enthusiasm about the place. Anyway,
  12. lol, actually I would like to have my wife sit on yours to see how the height fits, but I'll ask first!
  13. That'll teach 'em. You have to learn somehow. I was lucky- burned the shit outta myself on a moped when I was like 11, haven't had mufflerburn since.
  14. Yeah, it's one thing if someone says, "I was thinking of a bike similar to this, care if I sit on it and see how it fits?" Then, no prob. When someone plops down on it like it's a goddamned couch, someone better bring me my stabbin shoes.
  15. Lol Alright. I wear size 13 steeltoes. I'll totally sign your casts afterward though-- I'm a nice guy. Of course, I pretty much always say yes if someone just asks.
  16. Someone sits on my bike without asking, I reserve the right to stab him in the larynx and kick him until he stops moving.
  17. Yeah, if I can't find any taller risers in my price range, I'll definitely try the reverse thing too. Then all I'd need was any old 1-inch bar. Hmm Also, thanks for the link. I'll keep them in mind too.
  18. Sweet. I can fix the finish or whatever-- I'm totally function over form. Just lemme know!
  19. You're right, they have great prices, but none of their handlebar stuff looks like it'd fit on my bike- it's all Harley stuff. The one-piece drag bars they had looked great, but the risers were 3.5 inches apart, and mine are 4. It'd be fine if they were separate, so I could just adjust them, but oh well. I'll keep on looking.
  20. My two cents- I've found that damned near everyone I've met through this site has been pretty damned cool, and most would probably be willing to help out someone in need (like Mr Anderson, Strictly Street, and I forget who else all thought they were doing). Mooching off people, taking advantage of what is really a pretty rare kindness, is really fucking low. As someone who has been both well-off and broke as shit in my lifetime, I can say that sometimes your good name is all you have to get by on when times are (genuinely) hard. Squandering that on stupid shit, mooching for drinks and whatnot, is the picture of foolishness. I think DJ has taken the opportunity presented by meeting a large group of really decent people, and wasted it trying to exploit them for free chow. What an ass.
  21. Yeah, but the problem for me is that the pullbacks are damned uncomfortable. I'm still hunting around online pricing risers, haven't found anything really good that might work on my bike yet. Everything is all OMGCHROME! and therefore overpriced. What's a guy gotta do to get some damned plain hunks of metal? I'll keep on looking.
  22. Cool cool- I'll do a bit of looking.
  23. That would be some custom shit right thurr! Actually, if I understand the terminology right, drag bars are slightly swept back, like a wide V, whereas straight bars are actually straigh(ish). Either would probably work for me, just depending on what becomes available for how much. It's just through mental laziness that I keep interchanging the terms.
  24. That's a great idea, hadn't thought of it. Hmm, I'll have to go see if the instrument panel gives enough room to do that.
  25. Ah, I see. Hmm, I guess I'll have to start hunting for straight(ish) risers. Sorry, my browser was going all retarded and the pic didn't show up at first. Either that, or I'm off my meds again!
