  1. Did you get straight risers, or were they curved at all (kinda hard to see on your avatar pic)? I'm just trying to figure out what I should be looking for. A lot of the aftermarket risers I've seen so far have so much pullback it would be almost as bad as having the current bars.
  2. After talking to some of the other guys about it last night, I figured I'd post on here and see if anyone has any ideas/ advice/ opinions. The handlebars on my Shadow are really obnoxious-- they're set up great for someone with normal arms. I, on the other hand, have extremely long orangutan arms, so there's waaaaay too much pullback for me. When I ride the damned thing, the only way I can get comfortable is to lean back like I'm doin the rockaway. It's irritating, looks funny, and makes my back hurt. So, I want to put straight bars or drag bars on it, so I can sit more normally with the bars at a more comfortable spot. The problem is this: Putting straight bars on with the current risers would have them hitting the tank. So, I need to figure out how to get the things up higher. I don't mind blocking the lights some (you can see what I mean in the pics), but I don't wanna spend a bunch of money on risers that still won't work with straight bars. I'm hoping someone on here has some experience with this kind of situation and might give me some advice. Pics below, to try and show what I'm working with (may not be helpful at all). Thanks any and all for your help.

  5. See, fusion, you just don't get it- it's actually 1983, the Cold War's still right on the edge of escalation, and everything that isn't actually made out of apple pie (or isn't a Republican) is automatically the RED THREAT! Naturally, we didn't spend a trillion dollars in Iraq-- it's only big-government spending when Democrats do it. Meh, politics as usual. /yawn
  6. What I think they're trying to say by using blackface is a worth saying: Hip-hop, as given to us now, promoted by the major labels for it's 'club-friendly' money-making potential, has become the new minstrel show. However, in a bizarre twist, now it's not white folks in blackface portraying horrible caricatures of black culture-- it's us. To any black person who examines modern hip-hop objectively, it should be hideously offensive for this reason-- it effectively takes the most ignorant, uneducated among us, and not only puts them on tv and radio, but portrays them as some kind of ideal toward which we should be striving. It encourages us to focus on 'looking rich' and getting laid, on trying to earn a quick buck hustlin rather than on any long-term goals which might better serve the black community and the country at large. It gives the idea that spinnin rims are more important than a college education (and, to be honest, a good set of spinners actually cost about as much as two years at Columbus State). It encourages us to fight amongst ourselves, when we could actually get some shit done if we'd quit robbing each other. Rather than giving observations or insights into the experience of black poverty in America, as one could argue that older hip-hop did, new hip-hop actually glorifies it, treats it like a goal to be achieved rather than something to be overcome. After some more consideration, I think the video was pretty much on point.
  7. Just stay off my liberal big-government socialized roads on your big ride. Have fun, lots of good dirt trails on private land down that way.
  8. I agree. There used to be at least some form of struggle poetry to it- the old rappers were just talking about life. Now it's been boiled down to a crap formula. Like everything else.
  9. Aerik

    really?

Modern hip-hop blows. It's the same thing as what happened to punk after the big labels figured out the formula for making money off it. Except instead of marketing to pre-pubescent girls and douchebag skaters (I mean YOU, blink 182), they market to people who either only hear the bass at the club anyway or who have absolutely no patience for subtlety.
  10. I can agree on the Blazer-- I've never had a problem with it.
  11. That winchester white box that Walmart sells in the 100rd boxes is like floor sweepings- I had two squib loads in one box. Winchester white box is normally fine, but I won't buy the walmart bulk boxes anymore: I love my glocknade, and I prefer to keep it in one piece.
  12. I heard it from Glenn Beck- it has to be true. He never exaggerates or intentionally misinterprets a story. He certainly won't take something which is common knowledge or has been accepted as normal for years and claim it's a new Orwellian liberal plot to sell America to brown people (or whatever).
  13. Should've got next to him and kicked him over. Or followed him home and put a padlock on his spokes.
  14. Here's my boy Gremlin (a defective Boxer) and his buddy Booboo (a Bullmastiff). Unfortunately, we had to have Booboo put down this spring (she was 9). And here's Gremlin intently staring at nothing: Seriously, there's nothing out there. He does this every day.

  16. Lol- Well, I know some people ride in groups to the bike nights, when they're coming from the other end of town. But I live within walking distance from BWR: even if I got a bunch of people to ride with me, there's barely enough time to get past 3rd gear.
  17. Now girls, stop arguing, you're both pretty. Play nice or I'm taking the dolls away!
  18. I don't particularly care about the destination one way or the other-- I just like to ride.
  19. I'll be there too, probably around 7. We should put together some kind of ride around these things, since we actually get a big bunch of us in one place.
  20. I wouldn't care if Cali got booted, but only if we can send Alabama (and probably Mississippi) with them. After we take all that Southern food for ourselves, though.
  21. Maybe. Depends on which band you mean- the jazzy experimental one, you're probably right. The blackmetal band? I dunno. My new blues project will just make you want to drink. Heh

  22. Hmm. I'll talk to my friends and see if anyone's interested. Incidentally, since this thread will probably attract all the music-oriented members here, if there are any blues guitarists around who'd like to show me a few things, that'd be awesome. I've been getting more into it lately, but the fastest way to improve a new style is to play along with people who are already good at it. Feel free to PM or start a new thread about that, I'm not trying to hijack this one.
  23. What kinds of music is he interested in working with? I'm involved with a few different bands/ projects, I might know some people he'd like to meet.
  24. Lmao, I fail. Like I said, I was never that into the Final Fantasy series. Shit. I do play Magic the Gathering, though. That has to count for something. And I always laugh at Cylon jokes.
