    Holy shit.

Looks more like a pizza cutter..I should go check my brakes
  2. If you can get the carb off of your bike, you can replace the gaskets and o-rings. Pick up a clymer manual and use pictures like the one below to help you remember how things come apart and go back together. Here is a picture of your carb: http://tinyurl.com/ljaaye or good luck! You will find it is not too bad!!
  3. Can you trouble shoot your bike and still stay close to home? Try riding around a loop close to you house for a while, let the bike warm up, and re-check everything. Pay close attention to the condition of the wires that melted before, check your resistances, and take your time. When you hit the gas you are putting a load on the battery and reducing the voltage. That is pretty normal. The stator output should go up and your lights should brighten up a little bit. If the book says you are supposed to be at 0.4 Ohms max, and you are at 0.6 Ohms, that is 30% high. Can you go somewhere local with your voltmeter and check another new unit for comparison to the one you installed? Just a few thoughts...

    Wrecked Ninja 500

No doubt. We got pretty lucky IMO. That is also the reason the bike is not $750. It is totally ridable and olny has 2700 miles on it. Just a bunch of little cosmetic crap to clean up.

    What do you do?

Either that or find out why things break from corrosion / defects / damage. We also blow things up, burn stuff, pull things apart, and melt stuff. Right now I am building a 120 feet long see through potatoe gun, 4" in diameter. We gonna shoot a "corrosion pig" out of it at 10 meters /s. If you see a pipeline failure on the news, we are probably the company involved with the failure analysis.

    What do you do?

Metallurgical / Corrosion Engineer for 10 years at DNV in Dublin. I work for the oil and gas industry / DoD / DOE doing corrosion research. Real life Dexters lab.
  7. Give those two a motorcycle and charge admission. Cash money. That is pretty awesome.
  8. Point taken, crop the pic next time. Edit: I don't mean any offense with the joke...or saying you look like you would be on cops...or white trash.

    Wrecked Ninja 500

It turns out they totalled the bike. I have not taken pictures yet and will try to get them posted in the next few days. We ended up buying the bike back. The next move is to drink a few beers and start going through the bike to see if anything major is bent. The adjuster called out mostly cosmetic stuff and busted parts. If we decide to sell it it will show up on here first.
  10. Fate Tattoo's Chris put this on. about 13 hours worth, and 2 to go.

Thanks for the input. I figure if it is totaled we will buy it back and part it out. Sorry I don't have any pix right now. Once we are through with the insurance guy, I will post some pictures and the outcome. bt
  12. My bro laid his '07 Ninja 500 down Saturday with minor injuries. A nice strawberry on the forearm and a bruised ego..It has about 2700 miles. The adjuster is coming out tomorrow to take a look at teh bike. What does it usually take to total a bike? The front faring, exhaust, pegs, and handle bars are toast. Not sure about the fork alignment, but it is probably not good... It is totally ridable and fixable. Just looking for some opinions / experiences. Thanks, bt
  13. This is a great site! Thank you to the guy at Value City Furniture ( have forgeotten your name) for pointing me here. I am from Marysville and work in Dublin. If you commute on 33 or Industrial Parkway, chances are we have shared a friendly wave. Blue '07 Ninja 250R. Brett T.
