  1. I'd like to think that I never will, but it can happen to anyone.
  2. The STi would be a lot safer to crash, though. If I crash i'f rather have full gear and a car shell to protect me than just having full gear. I'm leaning towards buying a SV or a cheap car to DD, taking some HPDE courses in the STi, and slowly building the STi up to street-legal track car status.
  3. Hey, that's fair enough for me My dad has an '03 50th Anniversary Corvette that I've done some work on. I'm not a huge fan but I can appreciate it either way. I used to have a supercharged Grand Prix, that was a great car. I almost bought a G8 instead of the STi.
  4. Does she have good taste? ( I guess that's a subjective question..)
  5. I don't know man, if you can party half as hard as the dog in your avatar, it might not be so bad to party with you guys after all. I'll have to bring my dog though.
  6. My finances are in order, I've been saving the money to do the car work for months. The idea to buy a bike has recently started to make me second guess myself. I paid cash for my car (Saved money, flipped a few cars, and waited 8 months for a deal) so I don't owe on it. My school loans are minimal and my other bills are also very manageable, and I have enough in savings as well.
  7. Hahaha I'll consider it. I put 6K miles on my GS500 the first year I owned it. I'll ride every day as long as the weather plays nice
  8. Disclaimer: Unneeded history follows. Skip to the bottom to get to the point Hey everyone, been a long time since I've been on here (I don't expect anyone to remember me, I lurked more than I posted). It's been about a year since I sold my R6 so I haven't had much reason to come around, but now I'm considering getting another bike. I'd probably be looking at 03+ SV's this time around. My first bike was an 04 GS500F and while it had no balls, it was very cheap to insure, to fill up, and it was comfortable. I added a few things to it (It was stock when I got it) but nothing made any real difference. It was a great first bike but left me wanting more. I used to work at a motorcycle dealership as a reconditioner so I got to ride a ton of different bikes. One day I decided that an R6 wouldn't be too bad of a bike to own, so I found one and bought it. It was a blast, it had a full Yoshimura system and I added a GYT-R filter and PCIII USB, integrated tail, shorty levers, sliders, etc. I loved the R6 but it just wasn't comfortable, especially to ride with my girlfriend as passenger. The R6: I sold it to get money to put towards a Subaru, I don't regret doing this at all. The STi is fun ALL year round Picture for anyone interested: However, I've started to miss riding, and it would be nice to have something to keep miles off the STi when I can. I rode a few SV's when I worked at the dealership and I really liked how comfortable they are. The looks of the SV650S/F/whatever the full fairing model is called are right up my alley (I don't like the looks of the Gladius, Ninja 650, FZ6, etc). I feel like the SV would be a lot more comfortable for a passenger as well. The point: Here are my thoughts. I'm looking for opinions, so please feel free to try to persuade me one way or the other. Either option is going to cost me about the same up front, so cost is not an issue. I've been saving my pennies and have a budget of around $3K. Option 1: Put the money into the car. The STi is quick (let's not compare cars to bikes here), but it's got a lot of room to grow. I've already done a lot of work to make the car handle well, it's ready to do some trackdays/autocrossing. Motor wise I've only done a turbo back exhaust and a tune. I can buy a larger intercooler, larger turbo, injectors, fuel pump, retune, etc to get to around 400 AWHP and have an extremely fun car. OR Option 2: Buy a SV650. This has advantages and disadvantages, which I've listed. Pros: - I kept all my gear, nothing is needed except insurance and a bike. - Saves gas over daily driving the STi. - Keeps miles off the STi (big deal to me). - An exciting drive is no where near as exciting as a good bike trip. - I do miss riding. My dad rides as well and it was nice to have a riding buddy. Cons: - Extra insurance policy. Cost isn't a huge problem (My R6 was only $309/year for full coverage plus lots of extra coverage, the GS was 86/year fully insured), but it's in addition to the car insurance. - This is Ohio. I can't shake the feeling that if I buy a bike, it will rain. Every day. - Can't enjoy the bike in the winter. - Time. I work 2 jobs and am going to school full time (done in less than a year). I don't want the bike to just become a utilitarian thing that just gets ridden to work and school to keep the car parked, but that could very well happen. - The STi doesn't get any faster. I'm planning on going to some trackdays, and I'd like to be able to impress myself. Maybe the slower car will give me a chance to improve my driving, but I'd rather have 400 at all 4 wheels than 290 at all 4. So there it is. If you were in my situation, what would you do?
  9. I'm looking at buying a WRX STi later this week, and I need money. Price dropped to $5000 for this week only. I have a motorcycle trailer, so I can bring the bike to you if you're not too far away.
  10. haha no way you'd catch me on a hayabusa (no offense )
  11. I'd be happy with a sv650 or a street triple (675). I don't necessarily need a FZ1 but I hate how the FZ6 looks so it kinda forces me to a FZ1. I am partial to Yamaha's though. What color is his FZ6?
  12. No one has a SV, street/speed triple or FZ1 they want to trade for a clean R6?
  13. Still up for sale. I know this is a stretch, but if any of you have any aftermarket parts for a Cobalt SS/SC (specifically, a 3" intake, 60lb injectors, zzp stage 3 FMHE, zzp MPS, or any other stage 3 related parts) , I would take those as some trade value plus cash to make up the difference.
  14. Thank you. To be honest (and I mean no offense to your bike) I don't really like the nose on the older 650r's. The rectangular headlight kills the looks of the bike for me.
  15. Thanks man. When I say comfortable, I also need it to be comfortable for a passenger. I don't mind the R6 so much by myself but when my girlfriend rides with me it's bad for both of us. If I had the means I'd keep the R6 and get a cheap SV or something I would, but I'm in my 3rd year of school and have to buy a new mac/new dslr and I also just got screwed over on a car I just bought so a cheaper bike and some cash looks pretty good to me right now
  16. Up for sale is my 2006 Yamaha R6. It has 7732 Miles on it right now, but I will be riding it until it is sold so the mileage will go up some (although I just got a new car and I'm driving it every chance I get). I have the clean Ohio title in hand. My asking price was $6500 OBO, Now $6250 OBO. $5000 for the week of 12/12/2010 ONLY! I am selling it because I have a long commute to school and work every day (60 miles round trip for school, 110 miles round trip for work) and I would like to get a more comfortable bike to replace it with. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the bike, and it's in great shape. I work at a motorcycle dealership so I'm very picky about serviced being done correctly and at the correct time intervals. I had a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Power tires installed about 1500 miles ago. They do not have flat spots on them and the rubber nibs are still on the edges. I check tire pressure at least once a week which is the key to getting the best life out of your tires. The chain was cleaned and re-oiled every time I washed the bike. The bike has some aftermarket parts on it right now that can be included or removed and replaced with stock parts, which will affect the price of the bike according. My asking price includes all of these parts, plus all of the stock parts that I have in case you ever wanted them. The modifications include: -A full Yoshimura TRS stainless steel exhaust system with carbon fiber shorty pipe (Can be replaced with stock) -GYT-R high flow air filter (Can be replaced with stock) -A Dynojet PowerCommander III USB with all cables and software (Can be taken off) -A Motodynamic LED Integrated Taillight with sequential turn signals (Can be replaced with stock) -Hotbodies flush mount front LED turn signals -Fender eliminator with license plate light -Gold anodized Pazzo racing "shorty" lever REPLICAS (Note: these are not actual Pazzo levers, but the quality is the same) (Can be replaced with stock) -Real carbon fiber front fender (I wanted to do more body trim in CF but never got around to it) -Puig smoked Double Bubble windscreen with R6 logo -GYT-R carbon fiber 3 piece tank pad with R6 logo -DDM tuning 6K HID headlights (Can be replaced with stock) -Frames sliders with blue/gold anodized endcaps and real carbon fiber sleeves (Can be taken off) Like I said I am looking to sell this bike to get something more comfortable. I will consider trades for more "upright" sportbikes of equal or lesser value (plus cash from you if it's not worth as much as my bike). I have a few things I am looking for in a bike. They are: -I want a bike that is fuel injected (My first bike was carb'ed and I don't want to go back to that). -I want a bike that has similar mileage to mine, not some 20,000 mile bike and I don't want something that has been wrecked/laid down. Clean titles only. -I want a bike that has full fairings (I would consider a naked/half faired bike if a full fairing is available for it and I know the FZ1 only comes in a half fairing version). I am looking specifically for a Suzuki SV650/1000 (preferably 1000), a Yamaha FZ1, or a Triumph Street/Speed Triple. If you don't have one of those, I'm honestly probably not interested. I've been around a lot of bikes at work and I know what I like/what I'm looking for. No test rides unless I have the total amount for the bike in my hands. If you come to look at the bike and wreck it/drop it while test riding it, you buy it. If you are interested, reply here or call/text Kyle at (three.three.zero.)647-four.3seven.9
  17. Message them and tell them what you need. You can get literally anything you want made up as long as you have the dimensions (length and height). I've been dealing with the owner personally for years now but I know she does custom orders for everyone.
  18. www.houseofgrafx.com I've been dealing with them for over 4 years and the stuff I bought 4 years ago still looks brand new. You can get them in any color you want, some reflective, some not, yada yada yada, and they come on transfer paper already straight so all you have to do is apply them and peel the transfer paper off.
  19. Thanks man, those are the best looking ones I've seen quality wise for the most reasonable price. I'll probably grab a set.
  20. Thanks. Take no offense, but your name doesn't look familiar...unless I'm missing something.
