  1. I'm debating whether I want to spend around $1200 on a full set of Givi hard luggage, plus however much to get heated grips, lower passenger pegs, and a -1 front sprocket/speedohealer.

The other option is a brand new FJR1300 =)

    Nice rig:)

Not sure what Givi cases you are looking at but you should be able to equip your bike pretty well for ~ $800. I have gone through a lot of different luggage setups in the past 10 years. I'm also pretty hard on stuff as you can see from my post above. That said, I highly recommend Givi luggage. The racks are some of the toughest available.

My FJR was my first Yamaha and she's a keeper:)

  2. Hey gang,

I joined a few days ago. I met a couple of you at the meet and greet the other day...cool:cool: Figured I should do an official intro.

Hello, my name is Brian and I'm addicted to motorcycles and sport touring. I've been on two wheels in all 50 states. I just finished my last 3 states (AK, WA, OR) about two weeks ago. The trip and pictures are here

I like the site and it seems to be a good resource. I hope to meet more of you and perhaps ride together.

    Brian

  3. The problem is that "sounds good" is subjective. You may think your straight pipe twin sounds great, but others, myself included, think you're a self-absorbed dickhead.

I like the mechanical sound of an engine as much as the next guy, especially twins. But if I can hear you from 4 blocks away, I don't care how good you think it sounds, it's too loud.

  4. I don't think that there is such a thing as pipes that are too loud! They can and will help to save lives! I recently bought Cobra Splashdowns for my Boulevard. Because of that same issue, of people coming into my lane. And wanting to be heard, as well as seen. I was very pleased with that purchase. They were supposed to be louder, But instead they were OFFENSIVELY loud! Which is GREAT!!!! Very happy to have spent that money on that upgrade.

Sorry, but this is absolute bullshit. This is the attitude and poor thinking that continues to perpetuate the stereotypes against motorcyclists. It is your responsibility as a motorcyclist to put yourself in proper lane position/position of visibility. God I hope you're kidding, but if not, people like you are fucking it up for the rest of us.
