  1. Had a hell of a good time. Thanks for everyone for coming out, and for Doc as usual for being an ever gracious host. Great friends and a great time!
  2. So you got ticketed for 2 things you know are illegal, but did anyway. OMG (Yes, I have been ticketed for tint/plate before, but it's the risk you run)
  3. Yeah a quattro manual 1.8t is between mid 3200-3300lbs usually. 2.8 probably closer to 3400-3500. Going with the 4.2 it will probably be every bit of high 3300-3400 I'd bet.
  4. Yes, TDi 6MT. Really the only car this size you can get with a Diesel & 6MT. I drive 31 miles each way everyday. Literally spend 1/2 of less of the money I used to on fuel. Plus, free maintenance, it's a no brainer.
  5. That's a fully loaded one. There is a 30K 1500 4x2 Diesel..... I love the idea of this, a 1500 diesel that doesn't cost a fortune to operate that can tow...
  6. The platforms that share the drivelines (2.0t, 4.2, 3.6) are all the same pretty much hardware wise. Aaron has had fantastic luck with his VW's. I'm dailying a '13 VW Passat right now, I'll let you know how it goes. First 13k have been trouble free.
  7. Randy and myself live on polar opposites of experiences. ( Like Mr. Glass & Unbreakable) I've had 1 trouble vehicle (C5 A6, repaired under warranty on all cases). The rest have been pretty much bulletproof. Sold my A4 2.0T with almost 160K of stage2+ abuse on it. Did everything better than new. Needed 1 $15 coil pack it's entire life. New owner still happily chugging along and will probably go 200k with nothing but oil changes and timing belts. B5 S4 was over 160K miles of stage3+ making almost double the stock crank HP to the tires. Still providing it's new owner will smiles every day. S8 had no issues, even the solar sunroof and rear shades worked at well over 100K. Never took the B8 S4, Or Q7 beyond 100k but they were equally as trouble free, despite my constant abuse.
  8. I was genuinely excited about the prospect of Diesel competition, until I drove it. The motor itself I'm sure isn't bad, but mated to that sloppy chassis, combined with an automatic who's sole purpose is life is to be slow and annoying it ruins the experience. You literally can't feel any more disconnected from a car than in a diesel cruze.
  9. I believe the "mid ohio car wash" on sawmill has the underbody sprays when you enter the bay. http://www.yelp.com/biz/mid-ohio-car-wash-llc-columbus
  10. The diesel cruze is horrible....seriously awful.
  11. I daily a '13 Passat 6MT TDi. 50mpg , 6MT, 240ft/lbs @ 1700RPM. As roomy as most large luxury cars. Heated seats, and most other amenities standard. It's not going to raise you pulse, but as a daily, it's outstanding and the TDi aspect makes it cheap to own, and they just don't depreciate. Did ~2700 miles on a recent trip to Florida for vacation. Over the week there, and back, I averaged 49.9MPG. You just cant' beat that.
  12. Take the towtruck autocrossing instead.

  14. Absolutely.... I don't think you are that new, we'll vouch for you. :lolguy:
  15. I don't think lack of power was his problem...:masturboy:
  16. The light could be on as a result of the wheel being turned, and the car not actually turning, therefore causing a mash up of information for the stability system.I had it happen on the A4 when we gutted and did the entire suspension, including inner/outer tie rods. The ESC would try to kick in randomly at certain angles and it almost scary to drive. The other possibility might be a wheel speed sensor, but you'd typically lose ABS when that happens as well.
  17. +1 The biggest eye opener by far, is when someone who has never driven your car puts seconds on you in a short course and you thought you were really moving. For me, it was all about slowing down to go faster, gotta have some discipline and learn that the right pedal doesn't always make you go faster. Then, they try to provide as much in car real instruction to you and you get to try and close that gap. You really can't get any cheaper for such instruction anywhere.
  18. Good pads dust... May I suggest he get a vaginal duster?
  19. Good idea, if he doesn't want to drive it on the street, or has a 2nd set of wheels. With the new 2014 SCCA rule changes, "stock" turning into street etc. If he's modified that much, then it would change his classing again. With my schedule being so random, I'm not going to be trying to conform to any SCCA classing, most of my time seems to be spent at random clubs events. I'm not really concerned with SCCA classing, so I can do whatever I want.
