This seems to be a very compact piece. Most hand guns I have handled have had fat hand grips and are uncomfortable for my hand. I have a Passport 8500. Had I known about the Valentine one, I would have gotten that. There is a new one I just read report about that just out performed the V1. My Passport does a great job, and has tons of range. You can get one locally for around $300. V1's run $400, and can only be purchased through their web site last I knew. I would say this is one area you get what you pay for with the good name. EDIT: Found it. Look into the Beltronics STI Driver. Report says, " it's the only radar/laser detector 100% immune to radar detector detectors". Runs about $450.

Sorry I missed this when it was posted. Why do you say "nothing compares to the H1"? I have a, both sides perspective. I have driven and done insanely silly things in a H1. Everything outside of deep water fording(spelling?), I'm saying the FJ will cover any and all terrain the H1 will. I have seen a FJ clime a 65 degree incline (SEMA NOV. 06). My comparison is even based on the military H1. The civilian H1 is loaded with shitty plastic interior and does ok off road. After the H1, the H2 and H3 just get worse. Looks are a matter of opinion, but performance can't be disputed. I would take and H1 off road and feel ok. But, I would feel better in an FJ.
