  1. Parts cleaned up and back together. Just in time to rip off the front forks this weekend to do the same.
  2. Some small progress, got the swingarm repainted. Thats about it. Maybe tomorrow.
  3. Oh for sure its a china bike, but I suspect most riders would "upgrade" before it was in need of serrious work. Kinda like the old Yugo cars, run it till it's scrap.
  4. Been wondering if it was gonna show up in US dealers. Great to know that SOMEONE is bringing in some "standard" bikes....
  5. Sporty looking. Might be a good first ride for some.
  6. So, for lack of better options, I pulled the marzocchi reat shocks, cleaned them up, and pulled the rear wheel and swing arm, This swing arm will need completely sanded down or blasted. I can't get any paint to stick with out a reaction. It will be down to metal friday when I get off work. I wanna smack the guy who jacked this bike up before she got it...
  7. It started out as a race tail of a 96 r6 all fiberglass. It's shape was right to I started chopping.
  8. After weeks stuck at work & being down with a respitory infection I was able to bake some progress on this thing. Cleaned up the engine and shot some engine enamel on at, pulled & cleaned the carbs ( they were NASTY), got them back on. The fiberglass tail is comming along, still messing with the mount for the tail light.
  9. Yes, just the cap, just the very top where the valce cover bolts attach it. I will get it squared away.
  10. It just runs to damn good. I'm confident I will work it out and have it running. Not alot done on it so far this weekend, Been changing a CV shaft in the wife's Blazer... It sux, rather be workin on the bike.
  11. Hope the rest of the motor comes out as nice....
  12. +1. Glad your ok the the number crunchers are taking care of you. Deer incounters are a real pain.
  13. No work done durring the week, In Fort Jackson First Squad Leader, it's her bike. PV2 Persing with Mon & Dad. Got a bit done on it today. Picked up a Honda exhaust & midpipe in SC at a salvage yard for $20. (Blackbird high side?) Cut the can down to about 10 in & think the mid needs shortened a bit to fit right. Got the valve cover off and cleaned and painted in engine enamel. The gasket is in great shape, I plan to use some sealant and use it again. now the down side. I found this when I pulled the cover. Low side, cam abouve the Yamaha #2 I think.
  14. Tell her congrats on the CCW and new pistol, The wife has her's and carries a .40 SigPro
  15. I can get it a few inchers lower. There is a Top Bottom to the light and the mount it either verry tall or moved verry far forward. I'm still messing with it. Or I will be when I get back.
  16. So i do some final fab on the front of the bike and start to clean it uo with some degreaser. Well, better to find this out now than later. Some moron must have used some bargan flat black on the motor and frame cause it began to shivel up and become a real mess. Hours later I get the majority of it off the bike and I see the extent of dammage this 4000mile bike took. A ton of the bike was paited of over with some rattlecan crap. plugs and plug wires, body pannels, carbs, the works. Looks like the swing arm has lost some finish as well. And of course the tank is a wreck, full of rust, bondo all over it. It was cavered in several coats of rattlecan paint so I just just started stripping it so I can start over. I leave for Ft Jackson in the morning.... This is gonna take a while.
  17. Stated to tear some stuff down and clean the bike. This may take a bit longer than I thought.
  18. I would if I had something on hand that would fit, I dig the lite, but it does have a TALL mount on it. Im gonna mess around with it more when I get back in town.
  19. Aggreed, But the tripple tree has fought me on that. Thats as low as I gan go w/o a swap.
  20. Love to, but other side of the state.
  21. Just before my daughter left for Basic Combat Training at FT Jackson, SC she picked up this 1986 Yamaha Radian 600... I wanted to knock out some work on it this weekend and snap a few pics. I'm heading down to see her graduate this week. The bike is still a ways off from being done. It will be a while before she can use it anyway, she has a 6 month school to knock out before she can have it at her post. She is a huge cafe racer fan, but the Radian's lines don't lend well to that mod so I went a differnt direction with it. Here is the bike so far in it's early stages. SOME of the crack ups: The new head light and tail light and I talked her into keeping the Corbin seat: Where it sits now, headlight & tail mods.
  22. I have the bug to get a full on sport bike alot. Then I get one to do some work on. After my back and palms of my hands kill me I'm happy to get back on the FZ. But the "Ludicrous Speed" factor is tempting, but have have little problem hanging with the R bikes on the street.
  23. Looks to be red, white & the yellow on the Summit site. http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/Dupli-Color/Product-Line/Dupli-Color-Hot-Tires-Tire-Paint-Pens/?autoview=SKU
  24. Yeah, Gen3 Interceptor. First Gen of the Elf-Honda SSSA. Seen you on VFRWorld... Still got your 1000? Such an ICON of a bike, shame to have to sell it.
