Typical ohio weather is slowing the paint process, but here is where Im at. With some luck it will be done by Monday all but the front Suzuki fender. In the mail from Cali.
-
One more midnite shift tonite and them I get busy on it again... Waiting on the suzuki fender and need 4 more pannels in graphics. Got a new plan on the undertail and brake lite.
-
the repaired crack ups....

Exhaust work finished up today. All buttoned up and pipe back on, now in header wrap. Several Body panels in stages of paint. 3 More parts, still need to repair. SLower than I wanted it to move faster, but paint, bondo, filler & glaze only dries so fast...
-
I got 2 parts in color today. Still doing repairs on a bunch more. I know you dont see it all that much but I cleaned up and shot header paint on exhaust parts.

Got the tail all bolted together and trimmed up the diamond plate. Tore it all down and started paint prep. Only got the tail in prime before I quit. The heat today was killer. Back to the 12 hour shifts tomorrow till Friday, then back to the VFR.

I got started on this bike my last weekend off. It is my wife's beloved 1993 VFR750F Interceptor. I had previously installed a 2000 R6 race tail and am adding an inverted set of forks from a Suzuki TL1000r I found in a bone yard. Got the front forks installed, with bearings, brakes bled and working, it's back to a roller. Next plan before paint is to clean up and seal up the tail. This is in mock up before drilled to mount solid ansd before any hardware. I like how its comming together..

I aggree 100%, Young Dale did not dig the idea of the bar ends. Think since this is his first bike I'ts a fear of drop thing right now.

I THINK its an 86. Too darn tired to go look now. I know I will swap the head lamp. I have an 8" and 7" over on the shelf. The youngster will give me her opinion on what what to go with it. "Lil thing does run pretty darn stong, I will give it that.

After the Nighthawk is done and gone I got a chance today to dive into a more technical mod for my wife's 92 Gen 3 Interceptor.A 2000 Suzuki TL1000R front end. As an added suprise, my 18 year old daughter bought an 86 Yamaha Radian with 4100 miles for $500 of her graduation money. Been dropped plenty and is prety ratted out. We picked it up this afternoon. She ships out to MEPS Sunday and enter active duty Army Monday. She told me to "have fun with it & remember I like Cafe Racers." I want to do something with the Yamaha before she gets out of Basic. May be alot of work but I'm thinking they both may turn out pretty cool.

Enjoyed my last day off today. Took a 60 mile ride with Dale on his CB600 and me on the FZ1. The point was to go hit spots that had a decent summer weight riding jacket for him. The Nitehawk ran fine. No issues to speak of. He did miss a gear in some LOW speed traffic once, but thats it. He said seeing me and the wife all geared up made him think and he had to get some stuff as his funds permited. He still needs gloves ansd wants some up-armored jeans when he can swing it. He ended up with this Shift Backdraft mesh w liner & a day visor for his HJC lid...

Wife's 92 VFR750 Interceptor. Just finished the carb rebuilds today and got it fired up. Love that V-4 sound. Re-spray in the the spirt of a classic RC-30. Red, white &blue, gold Honda wings, HRC markings, gold pinstripe, RC-36 markings. Think the Honda flaming Woody Woodpecker in it somewhere. Will be starting as soon as some money grows back.

Well, this is how the old girl hit the road today. Dad loves it, except for the drag bar, but thats what the boy wanted. Bit hard starting and after a short test ride I brought it back in to adust the cluch cable before a final test. Second time out it buried the spedo at 85mph just before the top of 4th gear. Corners well at speed. Low speed turns are rough by todays standards, but what you would expect from a 28 year old motorcycle. The better brakes and rotors made a notible differnce in stopping power. Soon after these pics, kid took it out for a short 5 mile trip to his grandfather's, who still rides an 81 CB750C. Think he wanted to show off. Thanks for all the kind words on this build from all of you, this one was alot of fun.

I call it done. Back to the bill-paying job tomorrow. I Had to swap out the old front master brake of an old V45 Magna, old one Leaked all over even with the new line. I plan to turn out some bar ends for it on the lathe but ran outta waking hours. Added about a pint of fuel in it and it fired up darn fast. Hope to play around with it abit more, I was on a time crunch facing going back to work.

yep. all the paint is in house here in my shop down back. The card is a decal from Lethal Threat. The pin stripe is a combination of decals, vinyil strips & and hand painting with a brush. It's in final clear and cooking tonite.

So The kid next door tells me he got his first bike. He's recently back from Afganistan and his father gave him his '82 650 Nitehawk. His dad, old , crusty, funny 'Nam vet , who Loved his bike, gave it up to his son last week. The's fighting it out with cancer and went and got himself a scooter & gave the CB to his son. It ran like crap, busted up plastics, bent bar, & generally ran hard and put away wet. I was prety busy last week so thiss week I have been helping him out in return for Budweiser. Here is what we got so far... Carbs were just nasty, like the rst of this old bike. Pulled them cleaned them and so on. Swapped ot the rather crappy front brakes and rotors with ones off an 82 Gold Wing I had on the shelf. Cut the old bars, welded a drag bar accross the base of them, inverted and cut the old CB signals off the 8" head light mounts and installed a 7" lite of an old Magna, added stock turn signals off a 90's CBR. Lowered the gage cluster by about 3'' The stock air box looked to be a vaction home to all sorts of critters so we are putting on UNI filter pods on the carbs. The New owner of the bike decided that he wanted it painted, so what the hell, I'm a sucker and he's good people, so he picked colors to complement his ne HJC helmet and I went with it... NOW.. I have the parts in final clear. Cleaning of the bike, clean & lube the chain, air cleaners & oil breathers need on, and so on, and so on... Hope to hear her run tomorrow. Hope it looks classy and not busy.

I'm interested in how the Angel ST's pan out. I made the mistake of running Metzler m3's on my FZ1 last year and had to swap out the rear after 3200 miles. LOVED the feel, hated the life span. May roll the dice and get the Angels
-
Of the 2 CBRs one came in with 900 marking and left with 1000's. The 954 came in with 1000 on the tail. Just finished the job and sent it out today. Only mods other than paint were the turn indicator mirrors & the plate mount on the rear. I am digging the "FireBlade" on the tail. Got 2 more bikes to catch up on now...

It would be a TRUE hit I'm sure.

Hey, Walther. How do you like the milridian scope adjustments? I've been holding off the bandwagon going to those adjustments. All my rifle data has been in MOA for 18 years of tactical shooting, so it's a big adjustment to me. -

I'm running 168 Fed Match. My rifle likes it for most shots. I tested some IMI m118LR 175s and went back to the Federal GM. The 175s did beat the hell out of the M118 Special Ball I used to be stuck with on active duty. -

I would venture to guess that you can go to a 30MOA mount and still keep your 100y zero and most of your data will be true. What round are you pushing? My .308 is running out of gas at 1000y. -
Got denied time off of work.... It's gonna sit a few more days.
