Three years ago when the wife and I went to Ireland, our rental vehicle was a brand new 2010 BMW 320D, 6 speed, equipped with the "start/stop" feature. We drove 1300 miles in the 9 days we were there, and averaged 58MPG(the speedometer and trip computer was in "miles"/"miles per gallon". It never our "smelled" like a diesel. Why we can't have it here in the US is beyond me....
