  1. Actually, Imprez55, that's not correct. On a STi, when you apply the handbrake, the center differential defaults to open. On a WRX, there is no sure capability, and you will destroy your center differential. Read post 13. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=679521&highlight=ebrake+slide
  2. Shop Dog Cycles...lol, that's it!!
  3. Hoblick. Fat dog cycles or some shit like that... You'll not find a nicer, more knowledgeable guy to help you.
  4. Well, if you ever get in the market to own one of those three, you'll have to buy used...because you can't buy either three new with a standard...and it's for a reason...
  5. You're kidding, right? Do you have any idea what goes into the building of that car, or the technology behind it? For $100k, that car is a BARGAIN!
  6. While I enjoy a standard transmission...I wouldnt hesitate for a second to own a grt, Porsche, Lamborghini, or Ferrari with the flappy paddle shifters. No matter how good I thought I was at driving a stick, I'd never be as good as the electronic version...
  7. IMHO, the 2006 STi was the last year of the "good" STi's. Less engine failures, better front control arms, nicer interior than previous and post 08+ models, etc... If I had the cash, I'd buy a clean 02-03 WRX and build it with a 04 STi 6 speed, and a JDM Ver big heads engine. 400 WHP with an 8k RPM redline. That would be a hoot!
  8. You mean that throb of inefficiency, lol?
  9. I "would" like the BRZ if it was AWD...but sadly I don't think that body style will ever support it... That car, under 3000lbs wet, with 300 WHP, with AWD would be a blast!
  10. Brown57, I love your pictures! Thanks for the laughs!!
  11. For stock turbo, and stockish boost levels (under 20psi), the absolute best thing you can use is the stock BPV. There is no benefit to using a BOV on a Subaru with a recirculating system. Ideally, you should be tuned to run the HKS unit due to running super rich on shifts/blow off.
  12. Keep in mind, I sold my STi...just have a Jeep now, but for the last two turbo Subarus I had, I use Phatron from NASIOC, and did e tunes via Cobb Access Port Pro Tune software. Doing what I did requires a Cobb Access Port and a wb o2 sensor, but he also does open tune...though you still need a wb, and the ability to log it. He did a great job for me, and he's got outstanding reviews on NASIOC.
  13. Also, if you're not already a member, join NASIOC. Anything you could ever want to know about your car is on there. Just be forewarned...some members can be a little rude...so search before you ask...
  14. With the full 3" exhaust...does this include a different downpipe? With the BOV and an exhaust from the downpipe back, running the stock tune is not good... With the BOV and an exhaust to include a different downpipe, running the stock tune is terrible...as in your engine is a ticking time bomb! This is not something you want to get fixed soon...this is something you need to fix before you drive it again! The tune is the single most important thing about these cars...except for maybe the brakes, for obvious reasons...
  15. First of all...how many miles on it, and have you had the tune, leak down, and compression check done? What kind/type of tune is it running with the exhaust and BOV? If you don't already know, you're most likely LOSING power with the BOV...as the Subaru engine/turbo system is by design a recirculating system. Also, you say it's lowered...with is also not the best thing for a WRX/STi of that gen. Bigger sways, yes...but if it's lowered more than .5" or so, you're losing what little wheel travel(wheel travel is a good thing to have) you had to begin with. There are actually coilovers designed to lower AND gain wheel travel, but they're $(TiC AST's). I've had a 2008 STi, a 2003 WRX, and a 2007 STi...so if you've got questions, feel free to hit me up. They're truly are great cars...for what they are(not drag racing)...kinda like a swiss army knife. You wouldn't want one for hand to hand combat...but if given the choice of only one tool to be stranded on a desert island...you get where I'm going...
  16. Unless I find something I like better in the next week or so, I'll probably pick up a Chris Reeves Pacific. It's not exactly custom, but it fits all my requirements...and the price is very good. http://www.chrisreeve.com/pacific.htm
  17. Thanks for the links, guys...I'll check them out!
  18. To give you an idea of what I'd really like to have... Unfortunately, this is all but unobtainable... http://horanknives.com/index.php?itemid=2&photoid=27
  19. I have given serious thought to the KA-BAR D2 Extreme Fighting/Utility Knife...but I'd just rather have something that everyone else doesn't have, if that makes sense...
  20. I know this isn't about a gun...but I still thought this was the most appropriate place for my thread. Mods, feel free to move this if necessary. As a treat to myself for the LONGGGG hours I've been working the past few months, the wife has agreed to let me get something that I've wanted for a while(she doesn't know about the pistol I bought from Dale last week, lol)...a bad ass knife! Tactical, survival, working tool, whatever you want to call it... Requirements: Must be full tang, fixed blade...no folder. Good steel(1095, CPM D-2, CPM 35-VN, CPM 3V, CPM 4V) only. No Paracord handle stuff. Micarta, or bone only. No wood. Nothing shiny, as in a polished blade. Preferably a 7" to 8" usable blade, with total length right around 12" give or take. I'd rather buy something from a reputable custom knife builder than something that's mass produced. I've been on the knife forums, and I've contacted a few custom knife makers...but no one seems to be taking orders(or there is a 2 year waiting list!), and everything that's built get purchased right away. I never would have imagined finding something I like would be this difficult, or that the demand for a top quality knife would be so high! I realize you can't make a knife overnight...but damn, this seems like a good little side job to have if you'd got the tools and the skills to make them! Price wise, I'd rather not openly say how much I'd spend...but those that know me know when I want something, I'll not cheap out on it. If you know anything about these types of knives, think Hinderer or Horan, not Tops or Benchmade. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
