  1. I disagree...with the right ammo and shot placement, your just as "in business" as you are with a .40 or a .45 acp. Especially if you are proficient with your weapon of choice. To each his own...but I REALLY like the performance of the 9mm cartridge. ;)

9mm isnt a great protection piece. go .45 or .357. .44 or the riot gun
  2. I myself question my sanity over this! :D:D:D

Then again, I told my wife if she's going to get all horny over some teenage boys in that stupid Twilight series then I can get all worked up over a cartoon character!

Let's just say I know exactly what I'm going to make her dress up as come Halloween! Yeeeeee haaaaaawww!;)

    :weirdo:
  3. I'm with ya on the Guinness. Goes down like a slutty school girl! :D

For some reason, I can only do that with Guinness, or a Bulmer's for that matter. By the time most people realize they don't like the taste, I've got two pints gone.
  4. I'm very confidant that you can find some great targets to shoot on Parsons Avenue. It's not far from you at all on the short North side of Cbus.:D

Just wondering if there are any shooting ranges around columbus. Grovecity more accurately. I would be interested in taking a "new shooter" class depending on price and time. But anything to point me in the correct direction is gewd. Thanks. :D
  5. This topic is a big can of worms for sure. So many choices and so many things to consider. I will however tell you what my wife went through to settle on her final "home defense" gun.

Of all the things in her personal collection she finally settled on the XD9 Sub-compact. Things she wanted were as follows...

    Capacity

    Power

    Night Sights

Certainly there is some over-penetration issues with the velocity of the 9mm cartridge but for home defense she uses Hornady Critical Defense ammunition in order to acheive both proper stopping power and also avoid over-penetration.

Here's a link where you can see the model XD she went with.

Good luck and if you can, try to source a range where you can actually try some different guns out so you can find what works best for you. You want to be be damn sure you have the right tool when needed...especially if your life or a loved ones life depends on it.

  6. Hell...supposed to be sunny and 72 tomorrow. How's your schedule look for tomorrow? Maybe head out just after rush hour around 9ish and make a day of it? We can take the FJ. I could use some QT at the family property. Who knows, maybe a muskrat or two will present themselves in one of the ponds and we can seize the opportunity!:D

Edit: You could bring your quad along as well if you want to do a little exploring on the trails...but that however won't fit in the back of my FJ!

Sweet. I dont have much going on right now, so let me know when you wanna go. Glad you made it out.
  7. Damn that thing is cherry! I'm with you on going easy on the mods. I went nuts on my last bike! I intend to "keep it simple" on my next set of wheels. Who knows when that will be though. I sure miss taking the loop around Old Mans Cave and also hitting 555. In due time my friend...

Oh...thanks for the hospitality Saturday night. I thought I did pretty good for having back surgery a week prior!

I wanted to stay longer but did not want to push it (I guess we're both old men now)! LOL!

Oh and if you ever have some free time during the week, let me know and we can load up some of my "WMD's" and make the trip to the family property and do some blasting!!!

  8. The little beast has a bark to it that is for sure. I thought I was sold on the LCR but the LCP has a nice heavy first trigger pull on it like a good carry revolver does so I went for the LCP. One in the pipe and six in the mag is pretty good.

Got lucky and found two 100 round boxes Winchester white box at Ohio Valley Outdoor and snatched them up!

I have to say, the thing shoots a lot better then I ever anticipated for being a dinky ass little gun. The sites suck (expected for a belly gun like that) but we were both hitting empty pint cans of Guinness at 20 yards with the little bastard. Good stuff.

The sites (or lack there of) worked just fine once I got the hang of them. Any bigger they'd probably be more likley to snag when displaying.

Damn man, you guys are always getting each other firearms for gifts.

    Nothing says love like weapons!

Make sure I get to shoot that little thing before she takes it back. I've been wanting to try one out.
