I'd say keep looking while you save. If you find something better go for it but if not I wouldn’t call this a "bad" deal but you could do better (ie, lower mileage, less “problems” more power) The 3800 is a great motor IMO for what it is. Is your buddy firm on the price? See if you can knock it down to $25-$2,600 Got any pics of the car? I know from experience I was in a hurry to get in a better car, I can't say I regret my GTP but I could have found a better deal if I would have just taken a little more time. I'd keep looking there's better deals out there.

I know a guy with a Grand prix that has a STS set up. It makes pretty good power. You might want to check their sit and the FAQ's to see if that helps. It appears that the trick with these is making sure you have the right size turbo and piping to keep the velocity. A few things I found from the 3800 forum... Wow....Just wow, how fucking stupid do you have to be?

I had a set of stock wheels and tires in my driveway over the summer. Well they were pretty much trash, when I was putting up my privacy fence I used them to cut on and stain on, so they had saw marks on them were cut to hell and the wheels were stained. I just kept them to weigh down my Basketball hoop. Anyway, I came home one day and noticed they were gone. At first I was a little pissed because I hate thieves, but then I laughed to myself because I wanted them gone and who ever took them would soon realize that they were completely worthless. LOL at them right…? WRONG! Like 2 days later I’m leaving for work and I see 4 wheels in my front yard!? WTF, those fuckers brought them back. I was so pissed, I just rolled them down to the curb, went back in wrote up a FREE sign stuck it on the wheels and when I came home for work that night they were gone, LOL. Fucking idiots!
