  1. Honestly have no idea. I've not even tried them out. The previous owner said they're really comfortable, but they definitely don't look comfortable. They're mini apes, though. I figured I'd get whatever stock bars come with it, but I'm open to other ideas.

I'm glad I found this one, because I was about 12 hours from buying another Harley. Went home to think it over, and had just about resolved to just do it. So the vstar saved me about $9,000. :D

  2. So, I've been looking for a second bike, and the time has come that I've made the decision. I'm getting an '07 Yamaha V Star custom. not my first choice, but the guy was really anxious to get rid of it, and so I got a REALLY good deal on it. Only 2,000 miles, with a Mustang seat, backrest for my girl, cobra pipes, etc.etc.etc.

BUT... It's got apehangers. I can't do the whole apehanger thing. I'm guessing that I could find some new standard height bars pretty easily, and I'm also guessing that changing bars isn't too labor intensive. My only concern is, will I need to get all new wiring, too? That's where my comfort zone ends.

I know cruisers are a minority here on OR, but does anyone have any insight into this?

And yes, no worries. The RR is safely in my garage... For now. I'm still thinking of that new RR I checked out a few days ago.

  3. I can prolly start on it in about a week or so.... we can rent an auger to drill the holes for the posts, that will make things go really quick... from there it's all framing and decking... are we getting this inspected? if so you 'll need to pull a permit...

Well, I know I can't get started on it that soon. My condo association has to approve my deck plans. In order to do that, I need to present the plans to them at the monthly meeting, and from there, if approved, I can get the work started. Afterwards, it needs to be inspected again to make sure we stained it the right color, I guess.

So, what am I looking at, cost-wise? Standard deck, with railing, and I figured we could reuse my current steps... Maybe?

  4. I rode without a helmet yesterday from my house to Kroger. Exactly one block from my house, and no faster than 25mph. Still wasn't comfortable, I just didn't feel like going back in for my helmet.

  5. Do you guys have any recommendations for deck or patio builders that won't try to overcharge me?

I have a small back yard. Very small. About 12x12. I want to either build a deck, or concrete patio back there, so I have a place to cook out during the summer. Screened porch would be ideal, but condo association says no, so, no.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, just pretty basic.

  6. Bullitt. Hands down, Bullitt.

Also Gone in 60 seconds, the italian job, and all the Transporter movies. Pulp Fiction, just cuz I don't trust anyone that doesn't own that movie.

  7. Honda is superior to all the others. You guys with other bikes just think they are okay because you have had good luck with them but if you owned a Honda you would know what a good bike is.

I've had two Suzukis, and they were both fine. So was my Harley. Actually, the only bike I've ever had a problem with has been my Honda, and it was a minor problem.
