  1. Heads up on Rt 83 at Chester. They just laid down a crap-load of tar snakes in the left turn lane today. With as much as they put down, they should have just tarred the whole thing!

You're not kidding. I came off of 83 and turned onto Chester to get to work today after lunch, and was shocked at the sheer amount.

  2. There's a place right by where I work called Avon boot shop. They sell all sorts of leather jackets, boots, vests, etc. No pants, only chaps. I just can't bring myself to wear chaps, but it's starting to look like I may have to consider it. They don't sell pants, leather or textile, and the harley shop across the road, well, you'll never catch me paying $450 for a pair of pants, which is what they want to charge for a pair.

Finding a shop with proper gear for a cruiser is akin to finding a shop with spare parts for a Daewoo.

  3. Personal bias but why Lake Erie? I don't see the attraction. Now if you said, Ontario or Michigan, I could understand but as others have said, the US side of Erie (Detroit,Buffalo, Cleveland) sucks to ride through and the Canadian side if pretty boring.

I have family in Chicago and used to live in Rochester, NY. I took the northern route around the lake frequently in the winter to avoid storms and several times in the summer to avoid I80/90 traffic and construction.

Not sure where you have been but I would strongly suggest going to the Adirondacks if you have a week and have never been up that way. You could still go up through Buffalo/Niagra, Toronto and top side of Lake Ontario. Niagra on the Lake is a nice place to stay for a night.

Well, for me, it's because I can pick up on the tour at the end of my driveway. It started out just as a thought of something to do in a day, not turn it into a long weekend or anything. I agree, the thought of Cleveland, and/or Buffalo aren't very appealing, but it'd be a decent distance to go in a day, and would be better than my normal riding around northern Ohio, but not as good as the Tennessee riding I got used to. I see it as a trade off. :)

  4. My wife and I were talking about this earlier today. How many people do you suppose would have kept right on walking when they heard banging and screaming for help? I'd venture a bet that it would be quite a few who just wouldn't have wanted to get involved with anything of the sort, especially not knowing what they'd stumbled upon.

Convicted or not, I believe he's proven that he's willing to do the right thing.

  5. How do some of you guys get time to take these multi-week trips? I would love it, but I just get a week of vacation a year...

I never thought about the exchange rate and all, but I typically use my debit card for everything, anyway.

  6. So... Wifey has given her blessing on the addition of one more bike. So I need to find one on a shoestring budget of $3000.

The alternative is to sell my sportster and take the money and add it to the $3000 allotted, but I think my sporty has no value. I ride it a lot, so it's not one of those 07s with 900 miles on it, lol.

I want a fun one for the twisty roads, so some sort of sport touring one. Surely, somewhere someone knows of a deal?

  7. Not to be confused with circle jerk.

Anyone ever done this? I'm thinking about going next week and taking the route. 650-odd miles, seems to be some decent roads, and my passport is valid...

Secondly, anyone want to ride with me?
