  1. Almost 56 here in Dayton. I've got a little over 10k on my '10 Ktm 990 sm-t. Haven't done a lot of long distance on it yet with the exception of going to Ft Bragg and back roads all the way back.

Changed the oil in my bike last week with Mobile 1 4t. Found it at Autozone. JASA MA approved but pricey, like $11 a quart. Found it at the end of a aisle, not mixed in with all the other oils on the wall.
  3. I haven't been there personally, live just outside Huber, although have enjoyed their stunt show they put on a few years back.
  4. I know, bought my 690 from Wally, doesn't carry the street line anymore with the exception of the Adventure There are a lot of KTM dealers in Oh but from the months of research I did before purchasing they're all dirt line dealers
  5. Pro's Great handling, plenty of power in the midrange (4k on up) Smooth engine for a V-twin Unique, haven't seen another, although didn't see another 690 when I had it Really comfy seat for distance riding Upright seating position so this old back doesn't get kinked even on a 1300 mile round trip Good handling on Smokey Mtn fireroads Really low maintenance... After break-in 7500 mile valve adjustments and oil changes Lots of folks asking where'd I find such a big dirt bike Con's Low mpg....around 30mpg...5 gal tank helps a little but honestly it's still not broken in.....a little over 4k miles Poor factory backing on known issues a) drive chain slap dealer couldn't figure out (will try new chain and sprockets this spring) b) rear brake squeal (not really a problem but embarrasing imo, dealer recommends softer compound rear pads) Ktm aknowledges both problems but offer no solutions. Closest dealer I've found to Dayton is Louisville So far only added Garmin 550, power outlet and R&G tail tidy Soon to be added Akro ti full system with a dyno tune
  6. The original history of these things on Harley's is that they're for tying parts up with that vibrated off during a ride to be reinstalled at a later time.
  7. I've owned more than just a few bikes over the years and it never fails when someone I know or work with sees it that's their first question. Getting pretty tired of that as imo it's not their business. When I feel it's time to upgrade my ride I scrimp and save until I reach my goal. I guess most see bikes as a luxury item but weather permitting it's my main transportation. I like to ride. Any good replies to use to these types that wouldn't offend too bad as some I have to deal with on a daily basis. Rode my new KTM 990 sm-t into work today and had 3 different people ask the same thing, two non riders and 1 that poses as a rider, has a Victory that makes it into the shop maybe twice a year.
  8. I have a DID rivet tool, pushes out the old and knurls the rivet of the new link, although I always just grind the rivet and punch it out. Won't be home today though, trading in my 690 on a SM-T. Will be home late tonight. If interested just let me know, I'm in Huber.
  9. Thanks for the Welcome folks. Went for a ride the friday before Memorial day to Columbus and the Dealer I bought my current bike from (Reynoldsburg) isn't selling the street line anymore, although he had a leftover SuperDuke on the floor. That day Ohio Rider only had a 950 sm and stopped up and saw Kirk at KRW later in the day and he only sells the dirt line, not street. There have been a couple other shops that were suggested on the other forum, Pittsburg and Louisville that at least on their website carry the street along with a shop in Mansfield that advertises street also. I was informed that KTM changed the bike sales from big bikes (990), small bikes (690 and under) to dirt, street this year as far as possibly part of their restructuring for their dealer network. I was at the Adventure Ride at Snowshoe in '08 and rode all the bikes they had for Demo, I really liked the power of the SuperDuke but didn't like the rearset type of foot controls. I'm 54 and have rode mostly dirt bikes in my life. The SM line is the closest I've found to that seating position so I'll keep looking. Something always turns up eventually, May try talking to the folks at Ohio Riders again as they may be able to wheel and deal to get what I want.
  10. Hi, my name is Bob from just outside Huber Heights. Been riding since '69 and currently have a KTM 690 sm-r. Planning on getting together with other riders in the area, my family is up in the Lorain, Elyria area and sometimes get up there too. I was referred to this site by a member of the supermoto.com forum to hopefully get some information. I am really racking up the miles on the 690 and would really like to find his bigger brother but am either lacking luck in this state or just don't know where to look. I'm having no luck finding a dealer that sells the 990 sm anywhere around here. I was told to ask STT-Brian where to go if it's even possible to get one. The sm-r would be sweet but haven't ruled out the T model but both imho would do what I want. Not really happy with cruising for lots of miles on the 690 at 85-90 just trying to keep up on interstates outside of Ohio. My boy is coming home from Afghanistan in early Sept and would like to be at Ft Bragg (rode down on the 690 right before he left) when he comes back. The attitude's I get from KTM Dealers, at least around here have almost run me off of the brand, but the bikes speak for themselves. Not getting much help in finding what I want from them either. Any help would be appreciated.
