  1. I'll see if the liner is removable. If it is I'll wash it by hand. The outside I'll wipe with a sponge or wet rag.

In the event the liner isn't removable, I know febreezing is an option for tye smell but after saturating it with sweat on a couple occasions I'd really like to get it clean. Plus it's now dusty from supermoto thanks to a couple falls in the dirt.

  2. I need some pointers on cleaning my race suit. Specifically the inside since it usually gets sweaty, especially after yesterday's supermoto day where it was 97deg out. It's now also super dusty. It's a Spidi suit. I thought it was a bad idea to get leather suits wet or I'd just spray it with a hose. Anyone have any suggestions or can I just spray it off with water?

  3. I have a similar shape head and the Shoeis and Arais fit great. My only gripe about the 2 Shoeis I've owned (TZR1000 and RF1100 is the visor whistles after I do a shoulder check above 40mph. For that, I'll likely buy a different helmet next time.

  4. I amend my thinking on this. I've been driving all over the greater LA Metro area today. A few notes:

Cali riders wear gear. Nearly every one I saw.

Lane splitting is bad-ass and absolutely cuts down on traffic.

Loud pipes do save lives. Being an ohio driver and not expecting the occasional lane splitter, I really appreciated hearing them come before I saw them....generally sport bikes with aftermarket pipes.

Avis gave me a powder blue beetle. I looked gay.

That's because we have helmet laws.  I've seen guys in swim trunks and no shirts wearing helmets out here.

I didn't have split lanes when I was still living in Cleveland despite being greatly tempted only because nobody knew how to stay in their damn lane.  It was hard enough avoiding weaving cars when you were just occupying your lane as normal.  However after learning to split lanes out here in Orange County I may consider it if I (heaven forbid) found myself commuting to work on I-90 when it clogs up from an accident.

About doors, people can talk about throwing doors open all day but in reality you'll be far past any door opening fuckhead by the time they actually get the door opening.  And in doing so they expose themselves to all kinds of other dangers, especially if they're moving.  The air alone makes it quite difficult to open a door very far, so the door would blow right back shut.  I'm sure they'd go swerving all over the place trying to hold a door open at 30-40mph and would righteously crash themselves.

  5. I'm seriously considering selling my 07 sentra and buying an older legacy or imprezza

Just don't go too old. I had a 96 Legacy with not many miles and it was rotting everywhere so bad it needed to be junked. My sister has an 01 Impreza and the front subframe was so rotted it required replacement last year. They have great drivetrains but do not hold up to salt.

  6. I always thought tire changing during a motorcycle race was sort of wierd.

Its unusual but doing it is a ton of fun. I crewed in the 2010 race for one of the amateur teams and it was that experience that got me into watching motorcycle racing again. The series has been in a miserable decline and I fear this may be the nail in the coffin for motorcycle road racing in America. I hope I'm wrong.

  7. I realized I let this thread slip again. Traveling has ceased at least for a little while. I accepted a job in Irvine, CA and we've been here since early August. So far it's been decent. I like that I am still riding to work and it's been fun exploring the area. I don't know how long we'll be here but we're trying to make the most out of CA while we are. Hopefully Angela can find a job soon and we can put some more gas money away.

  8. Can someone please work to legalize lanesplitting (bicycle and motorcycle) and incorporate that into the curriculum as well?

Oh my God yes.  It's just too bad that so many lawmakers think it's too dangerous for motorcyclists to handle, despite the fact that it goes on in just about every other country in the world and California.  California!  But I'd be scared to split lines in OH.

I am 100% against any form of vehicle registration and driver licensing. However my reason is being we are granted a birth right of freedom to travel.

My problem is when bicyclists use roads for exercise... They are not traveling anywhere, they rarley have a destination other than to bitch when people get to close then run stop signs and pass on the right.

So what about the motorcyclists that are out for a cruise?

I would really love to hear your logic behind this. Most of the distracted drives I see are late teens to early 30 with their attention on their phones, putting on make-up or reading the paper or a book. Your statement about when to have kids is fucking moronic at best. My wife was 37 when we had our first and 39 when we had our second. I was 36 and 38 I wouldn't have had it any other way. I was too selfish and immature to have kids earlier in life.

Nobody is paying attention.  Teens, 20-somethings, adults, nobody.  Every day I rode into work I noticed at least a dozen people texting, and that was only a 14 mile ride on the highway.  Who knows how many more there were.

  9. I've asked around about the vfr800's and heard some complaints about the VTEC models having annoying engine characteristics. Anyone have personal experience with this?

Bad324, yeah, I'd happily do a swap day with you if I were still local.

I'll look into the FJRs too. I know very little about them. Or the Trophy. It sounds interesting.
