  1. This story doesn't change my mind.

    http://www.newsnet5.com/news/national/police-man-sold-stolen-brains-online

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man was arrested on theft charges after admitting he stole jars of brain tissue and sold them online, police said.

David Charles, 21, of Indianapolis, told Metro police he broke into the Indiana Medical History Museum six times in 2013 and stole jars of human tissue, including human brains.

Officials were tipped off by a California man who bought six jars of brain matter online and realized they had been taken from the museum, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The San Diego, Calif., buyer said he paid $600, plus $70 for shipping, to purchase the six jars of tissue.

Charles was arrested Dec. 16 after agreeing to sell human tissue to an undercover officer.

Police said a detective met Charles in the parking lot of an Indianapolis Dairy Queen, and arranged to buy a duffle bag containing 20 jars of human tissue.

A pre-trial conference for Charles has been scheduled for Jan. 13.

Seriously, what would possess someone to do that?  Did he think he was feeding zombies?

  2. I'm a little late to the game, but after seeing these bearded fucks everywhere I go and then seeing this controversy, I finally looked up what this show is about.

The real question is why the hell a show about some family that makes duck calls is so popular, or on tv at all?  I mean, how boring of a topic can you get, even for reality tv?  What's next, a family that got rich making buckets?

And seriously, is anyone surprised an old southerner doesn't like gays or blacks?

Basically, no fucks should be given about this.  It makes me not miss tv one bit!

  3. Finally all caught up on the blog http://jimandangelatravel.wordpress.com/

Out of Vegas and currently in Arizona enjoying the sun and relative warmth.  We were hoping to be in Austin, TX by now but the weather there, like most of the country, has been rather frigid.  There's good riding to be had here among other activities.  Also doing a few mods to the truck.

Feel free to make any comments in the blog, and at least check out the pictures.  There's lots of them!

  4. I'm not going to bother with specifics there's lots of good recipes here already. Here's a couple tricks I use.

Diced tomatoes. Get the garlic/basil ones.

The cheap chili beans are the best. Also mix in black and kidney beans if you're making a big batch.

I like chunky vegies in mine. Course onions and green and yellow peppers usually go in mine. I also don't cook them to mush.

Spices- go to Penzey's and get their Cajun spice and Northwoods Fire.

Jack Daniels spicy original BBQ sauce adds a nice spicy smokey flavor.

Soy sauce can go a long way, use in addition to salt to bring out your spices. A tablespoon of butter can also richen up the flavor and make your heat "stick".

A shot or two of whiskey is nice too. Be sure to sample the whiskey!

  5. How did this go from helmet colors to headlight modulators so fast? Lol

About helmet colors, I go for contrast. I have a blue jacket and a yellow helmet. Previously it was an orange helmet. I still don't assume that everyone will see me because of them though. They can't hurt but I still ride defensively. It's the only way.

  6. In Vegas for a couple more days. I have more posts in the blog and will be adding more today and tomorrow.

I recommend to all of youmaking the trip to Death Valley at some point in your life and bring a dual sport. Its awesome down there, and probably the most motorcycle friendly park out there.

  7. Ask for maintenance records. At 48k it should have the valve adjusted at least twice. Check for play in the forks. You'll feel a clunk when you push the bike back and forth with the front brake pulled. How cheap is cheap? I got my 2000 track sv for 1k and it had 9000 miles, but no title. I certainly wouldn't pay any more than $1k for an sv with 48k on the clock.

  8. First problem is you're saying the cleveland metro parks are the only good roads in the county.

If you go down to penisula, bath and cuyahoga falls you have a lot better choice in roads with less traffic, which is not very far from the "Cleveland metro parks" at all.

But... If you just take a 60-90 minute ride south you'll have some amazing roads with absolutely no traffic, and no police, your biggest worry is going down, breaking your legs and no one finding you for hours and then being eaten by a coyote.

You just suggested roads in other counties.  I didn't always have time to go out to Peninsula or further, and the metroparks (from Lakewood to Brecksville) were right outside my old house.

Wow I missed the Metroparks part. Yea nobody should ever consider anything over a cruiser pace in the Metroparks due to slow drivers, too many rangers and shitty road condition. I used to be on the Metroparks all the time when I just wanted to get out

Like zx3 said there are much better choices in roads in the same area of the Brecksville reservation. If you're interested in those I can find some saved maps that include them

There were times it was good, but weekend afternoons were not the time to go there.  I have that road memorized so usually I'd ride through there at night and comfortably took the road at 40-50.

Yes, the Brecksville reservation was better, with better surfaces and less cops.  Only issue I had was some fuckbomber on a bagger that almost ran into us by Tinker's Creek.

  9. I've used them since 06.  I prefer to do my own work so I've only gone in for big things.  Only had one problem with a carb sync on my Bandit back in 08.  I called and griped because it ran like shit and got lousy mileage, and they told me the tech that did the work lied on his resume and did a bunch of shoddy work for them.  I brought it back and had it fixed in a day and running right, free of charge.  Had no problem with tires getting mounted and they can usually do it while you wait, provided you bring the wheels in and call ahead to make sure they have someone available.  Otherwise it's usually a day turnaround.

John (the owner) and I are on a first name basis and I get a pretty good feeling from doing business from him.  They aren't perfect but no shop is.  I think he may cycle through techs for one reason or another, I think they have a notable ebb and flow with work throughout the season causing some guys to leave.

Basically I'm trying to say I haven't had any issues with them that they were not quick to resolve.  If they screwed up, they investigated, admitted fault, and made things right.

I've been happy enough with their work to not bother trying another shop so I don't have a good comparison other than my own experiences.

  10. You all know CA 1.  It's decent for the most part, however some sections are stuffed up with RV's and gawkers.  The stretch between Tam Junction Center going north toward Point Reyes however, is not.  It's amazing roads like this exist.

There is a complex of roads in the area that are a riding paradise for many reasons.  The scenery along the coast is amazing.  In addition, the scenery inland is equally beautiful.  The area is dense with rolling hills and lakes.  Several of the roads take you through redwood forests, while others wind through hillside ranches.  There is much for the eyes to see!

What they all have in common is curves.  Lots and lots of curves.  Traveling along them, you almost think it was a racetrack designer that built them.  Many turns are banked, and 95% of the surface is in great condition.  Like any road, there are areas with gravel so it's best to do a scouting run if you wish to push things.

Highway 1 has much in the way of elevation changes.  Being a coastal road it's to be expected, and it follows the contours of the coastline.  There are multiple hairpins and blind turns adding to the excitement.

The best thing about riding in California is traffic.  These roads hardly have any.  And when you do come upon a car, they use the pull-offs!!  It removes all the frustration from a day of riding.

I've only been able to experience a handful of the roads around here, but you can make a nice loop out of Highway 1, Sir Frances Drake Blvd, and Lucas Valley Road (which runs right behind the house I'm staying at).  I hear motorcycles going by all day, as well as sports cars.  There are some residential areas along all points of the road but it doesn't hamper things much.  There is also little law enforcement.  I've only seen one cop checking Hwy 1 as you approach Tamalpais.  You can also incorporate the Panoramic Highway and others and make for a long awesome day.

Here's a few videos I've found of the roads.  They aren't mine as I don't have a camera, but they give you an idea of the roads I've mentioned.

Highway 1 from Tam Junction Center.  Notice how cars get out of the way!
