  1. Casper,

I use the Gunvault MV1000. I keep my XDs 45 in it loaded with 45 Talons. I used to have the shotgun for home defense but found it too unwieldy to use in close quarters.  I think I would feel the same on the AR15 and would not have it loaded with anything other than frangible ammo for fear of killing someone next door or down the block.  Anyone who would see the XDs and continue to do their thing would get a very rude awaking after the first round.

  2. I believe they have about 10 to 12 chapters now. Tim, sorry that your path to eagle was not as fulfilling as mine was. The tinnerman canoe camp in canada (now gone) and beaumont scout camp in rock creek along with philmont scout ranch in NM, and the various jamborees around the country were and are some of the fantastic parts of scouting that I wish you had been able to experience. Those along with some of the great hiking trails and camps around the country are great character building experiences.  But no matter, you are still an Eagle and always will be. ;-)

  3. Most boys who earn the rank of eagle scout know that you are always an eagle no matter what your age. It is not like I used to be an eagle scout back in the day....I am an eagle scout now even at the young age of 65. Just like Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, President Gerald Ford and many many others. I actually do still participate as a board of director of the greater cleveland council eagle scout association and a life member of the national esa. :santahat:

  4. I have camped all over the entire western US in pup tents in places you can't even do anymore. Every National Park west of the Mississippi (all 22 states)  But at my age I prefer that hot shower and a soft bed. I did camp at the VMD at mid ohio in 09. Then someone decided they liked my tent more than I did and haven't done any since.

  5. Ive camped on and off my whole life, i have most of the gear one would need, i was a eagle scout back in the day too. But ive never felt the urge to pack up the bike and hit the road. When I'm on a bike trip I do a lot of miles in a day(usually) and id rather have a hot bath and warm dry place to sleep to be ready and rested for the next day.

Now ill pack up the gear and head to Wayne or into the woods in SEO for some hiking and fishing a couple times a year, we used to go down to the strip mines all the time.

I think a OR weekend at Williams would be awesome. Some can ride the dirt roads on their dual sports, the bubbys can hit the trails and others can hit the kick ass twisties down there.

    Huh?  Once...always !

  6. Expected date (This is NOT a certainty) is about March 20, 2015 for the law to go into effect.  If you take a 8 hr class, DO NOT submit your paperwork until the law takes effect. If you do, you are committing a felony and you risk NEVER having a CHL.

  7. nice cabinet...i am not one to show off my stuff like that. Ever since a friend had his place ripped off because some hoodlums saw his cabinet in his bedroom from out  on the street. broke into the home, took all of the stuff he had in the two cabinets and tossed them on the bed, used the bedspread as a santa bag and split. dropped a few in the yard on their escape which weren't found until weeks later....by then, some were badly rusted. i keep everything in safes now. even getting one for all the ammo which is locked up, but not in a heavy cabinet.

this would be cool for a gun shop maybe.

  8. Do you guys see what happened AGAIN? The thread turned into another one where Duane is at the CENTER of it, and the topic has now squirmed through several subject changes in an attempt to avoid being pinned down by his own logical fallacies, not the least of which exposes callously enhanced risk factors to fellow OR riders. There isn't much left except name calling at this point, because he's so goddamned stubborn, he'll end up killing one of us before he'll admit to texting and driving being wrong, wrong, wrong. That is, unless he's punking us, which honestly I'd prefer because if it's my daughter that dies traversing a country road at his hands, I will personally hand-bury a fucking blade so far up his crotch, he becomes human change purse.

STOP FEEDING THE TROLL. He likes to play contrarian - he feeds off of it. A little is fine - we all have our quirks - but he won't grow out of it while we keep rewarding his behavior with attention. He fails to respect the boundary between intellectual debate and ego satisfaction at other's expense, and as far as I can tell he doesn't really care, so there's little value the rest of the OR community gets out of it in the transaction.

Seriously, STOP FEEDING THE TROLL so he can discover better ways of interacting online, or somewhere else to throw elbows.

I agree.....think that was what I was trying to say in my first post....JUST IGNORE HIS POSTS.....(you'll notice that I have not directly responded to any of his posts) just to others about him.

  9. Bubba quote: "The reason he doesn't go with the majority isn't simply due to a perverse inclination to argue--as far as I can tell from reading his posts, he's pretty much firm in his anti-gun/anti-conservative posts.  The fact that the majority of posters on OR are staunch gun rights advocates is the main reason he always seems to be espousing an opposing viewpoint.  He may be in the minority here, but he's got a right to his opinions, and he's stuck to them--blindly or not--in the face of ridicule and criticism on this forum"

Last I checked....being a gun right advocate is no different than being a right to free speech, right to choose your religion, right to be free from unreasonable search/seizure .....I believe it is called the BILL OF RIGHTS.....you know...the Constitution.....the thing that makes this country great.  What I don’t understand is how people want to choose just certain parts of it and not all of it.  Sort of like let's only obey the laws we like and not the ones we don’t.  Everyone has every right to their beliefs, just don’t try to take mine away from me and that goes for my rights as well.  Personally, I am not a fan of ANY radical or extreme on one side or the other, whether if be RIGHT/CONSERVATIVE or LEFT/LIBERAL or even RELIGIOUS.  The old saying that TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS USUALLY BAD rings very true here.  I have always been more of a middle of the road type person that likes much of both sides but none of only one side.

Oh and that statement....preverse inclination to argue......pig in the mud, pigeon on the chess board,  IMHO

  10. Oh oh, this might be a last chance offer to sell this neat rifle to a fellow ohioian / OR member. Some guy down in Fla wants to buy it. Pain in ass to ship out of state thru FFL's & all.

I would much rather sell it here preferably face to face. Guy is supposed to send me a usps mo within the next week or so. Someone is going to get a real deal on a cool rifle/shotgun !

  11. If you look at the majority of his posts you will see that he always takes an opposing view from the majority.  Me thinks it is so that he can stir the pot and make as many people upset as he possibly can.  This is either because he is a rabble rouser or an idiot.  I tend to lean toward the latter so not to offend him.  Now being an idiot is a lot like being dead.  Everyone  knows that they are but them.  So that being said, you should not argue with an idiot.  It is a lot like wrestling with a pig.  All you will do is get down in the mud and get covered with their sh_t and they like it.  They will just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience there.  I personally never make the mistake of arguing with someone whose opinions I have no respect for since they have no merit based in fact.  My suggestion would be to totally ignore any and all of their posts that have the purpose of creating an argument.  In this case, it would be the vast majority of them.  This is just IMHO

  12. IT IS THE GUNVAULT THAT I POSTED IN THE PICTURE. The one on the HF website is not what I bought. It is NOT the deluxe version but the standard one. I only have the GUNVAULT safes and they are all the  GV1000 safe. The item 93473 is the one I got....I am not sure what the item 61581 is..... probably a cheap imitation of the GV perhaps..... I went to the link that tootalltim posted and it is a cheap version on the gunvault brand......SO BEWARE OF YOUR LOCAL HF SELLING THE 61581 INSTEAD OF THE 93473

  13. Harbor Freight is selling the Gunvault MiniVault Model GV1000s for $89.99

With a 20% off coupon that comes to $71.99 + your local tax  Reg. price of this is normally $149.99 and the MSRP is $164.99.

I bought three of them from harbor freight in the last year. first one cost me $105, and the second was $92, and this one was $72......How can you go wrong at this price??????

  14. About this time, a good left wing radical would be saying...."What are you trying to do? Confuse me with the facts! I know what I know I believe and you can't sway me with your facts! "

And the good right wing radical would be saying...."See, The cops were right and were just doing their job and the grand jury always knows what right and wrong!"

  15. But my own personal note on these and many other cases that are on the news is....

If you are going to break the law and resist arrest / flee / elude the police, what happens next is 95% on you. Not all dept.'s have non-lethal tools available to them.  Most cops are trying to do the right thing  i.e. Protect and Serve, maintain Peace and Order.  Yes there are the few who should not be wearing the uniform/badge. They are the power hungry, ignorant of or do not know the Bill of Rights, forget the departmental policies, or just plain stupid.  They get slowly weeded out. But these three cases that are in the news are not just “White Cop Killing Black Men Without Cause cases as a lot would like us to believe.  And what has happened in protest of them is a national crime in itself.  Allowing the MOB behavior to loot and burn and destroy in the name of protest is pure Bullshit.  It really helps to make the case of racism doesn’t it ?  They destroyed their own neighborhood and or allowed outsiders to do it.  Real intelligent!  It really makes me feel sorry for them. The peaceful protest are OK, if not misguided though.  Maybe a peaceful protest against breaking the law, improper parenting, not taking responsibility for one own actions would be more in order. But that won't happen will it? No...not newsworthy enough nor does it fit into the radicals point of view.  Extreme anything is usually not good.

  16. Not sure what ordinance they used to cite you since in Ohio it is NOT addressed in the ORC that I am aware of. Kinda of the catch 22...Not legal and not illegal since it is not in the law books. Would have probably wrote you on reckless or illegal passing.

  17. Boy this thread can really show the difference between left wing and right wing extremists.  Either the cops were perfectly justified to shoot a person reported to have a gun or the Cleveland cops were just doing their normal thing of killing innocent 12yr old kids who brandishing airsoft pistols that were made to look like a real gun cause the cops should have known that he was 12 and the gun was a toy.

Me thinks it lies somewhere in the middle folks !
