  1. If you have ever wanted to turbo the 3.8L they can make insane horsepower with enough money. A stock GN could push 450 plus with the right chip and the turbo turned way up, injectors and such. After that you are starting to look at stage II heads and block girdles with lots of billet parts inside. There are people pushing over 800hp from that motor. There is still debate about one guy getting 1000+ from a GN. If you look up Chris Chow Grand national. It smokes the wheels on the dyno and still puts down 1077HP. Most people claim that was after he switched to a v-8 motor but I have never seen a definitive answer or pictures of the car with the hood up.

I just continue to bow down to GNX awesomeness.

  2. King, the stock looks real nice on the Garand, is it one of the new CMP ones? Can't quite make out the cartouche in your picture. You would like the stock I have on my Springfield.

It is a hybrid walnut I had put on the gun roughly 8 years ago. The pictures just don't do it justice. Had Dean's gun restorations do the work on mine. "LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO SHOOT AN UGLY GUN!"

  3. My '77 Olds had the 3.8L Buick engine in it also. Back then it was the 231CI v-6. It was first introduced in that size in '75 or so. It is a shame to see that series engine be canceled as most of them where good running, long lasting machines.

  4. I know you are looking at auto's, or least the thread seamed to point that way. Just as the flip side of the coin, don't pass over the revolvers. I have a Smith 340PD. It is the J-frame hammerless that they make in the Scandium alloy frame. Certainly on the more expensive side but it does give you the option to carry 38's or 357mag. It weighs 12 ounces so it is nice and light for a carry piece. The only draw backs would be the very heavy recoil with .357 rounds and that it is only a 5 shot.

  5. Had to get a better picture of the handguns. I never had a group shot.

Also Edited my first post to include what they are.

  6. For all the people that talk guns, not many pictures to prove it. Let the new guy spark this thread up. Don't know if the bike collection hurts because of the guns or the other way around. :D Here are the rifles last time I emptied the safe on cleaning day. Using the reloading supplies for a background.

  7. I have one of the Kershaw Leek 1660st knives. Nice compact knife, assisted opener with a good edge if you only wanted to use it for protection. Like somebody else had already mentioned, it doesn't hold it's edge if used for day to day duties. Don't know about the legality issue, I have asked 2 LEO's since moving to Ohio about it and neither had any problem with the action and felt it was legal.

  8. Thanks for all the Welcomes. As for the screen name I used to have a Honda. My first truly legal street bike was a Canadian model '85 Honda VF1000F. This is back in '98 ish and I had just gotten my first computer. AOL was who I was using at the time. I had tried for vf1000rider as a screen name but something happened and the last R got cut off. I never bothered to change it and it has been that way ever since. It's kinda nice as nobody else uses it.

  9. Any way, felt like saying hello and give a quick intro. I haven't really been to any of the OhioRider events but I'm sure to have met some of you around town while at a bike night. The guys from Desmohio know me (is that a good thing? :D). Looking forward to a nice long winter of staring at my bike and wanted to get active on the forum so I could scratch that couch riding itch.

That and so Yotaman will be happy I finally joined.

Current bike is an '07 Ducati Sportclassic. Got it in '08 and have been riding the poor thing mercilessly. Little over 16k miles on it so far and no end in sight.

    Dave.
