  1. Hey I’ve also reserved a garage. Sounds like we may even be over-garaged now. Pretty sure they gave me #18.  I’ll write “I-zapp” on a pitboard out front. It’d be cool if I could at least split with one other. Riding A group fwiw.

Also - Nathan, I’ll bring the PTR gift certs for your buddy.

  2. I am selling (2) PTR gift certificates that need to be used this season for a friend (no longer riding trackdays).

Use them Monday or Tuesday, or both. Or later. But this year.

BTW, I've never had to pay a late registration fee. Doing it for years.

$140 per. PM me if you want one or both.

  3. I'm in to split a garage for Monday, if anyone in the larger group garage wants to jump over to make room (6 might be a bit tight)

Arriving Sunday night, might actually arrive in the afternoon to check out the VMD races.

Looks like the K&N Oil Filter failed and shot oil everywhere ---

Glad your okay man. Making me reconsider my filters now reguardless of how convenient they are.

I had an issue with a K&N filter leaking once, ended up tracing it to the faulty way i safety wired it - the SS band clamp had a sharp edge that pierced the shell of the filter housing. Prolly not K&N's fault.

If they are pointing the red flag at you specifically, get off the track ASAP because you are probably spilling all kinds of crap all over the place.

    you mean BLACK flag.

Thanks for trying to give me a tow yesterday John.

Ended up with 38.3 at the end of the day. Im sure if we had some clear track and your tow low 37s were in sight.

i hate you guys. just can't bust out of the low 40s.  Felt like i was killin it but not so much. Maybe my laptimer needs recalibration......

  5. so i may be in after all. a "new" engine showed up and all of sudden this thing might actually happen. got a crap ton of work to do (like, everything) but we've got almost a week and a long weekend to get er done! lol

planning on running V7MW both days. she's an old CBR600 F2 (with F3 motor now). Will be pitted at the Advanced Sleeve booth.

  6. was going to run an old F2 Honda as my racing debut, but the bike has significant issues and won't be ready by the weekend. was tempted to just run a WERA C class on my TD 600, but i'm too slow and don't wanna embarrass myself even in C. I think this year i'm going to do some recon and see whats up in each of the classes.

Can't really put it on MS or N2 as they run their own days. I believe he's trying to start up a new trackday org.

the more the merrier. i will be signing up and wishing that many others do too.

i'm just wondering how he's going to get to those "many others". hell, i'm an acquaintance of Sam's and I JUST heard about it on this thread that i happen to be subscribed to.

certainly MS would be amenable to it???...(without Nelson's what is MS anyways?)

    That is Sam's forum

yeh i kinda figured, but wondering why he'd pick that vehicle to promote his event, vs posting in other well established forums like OR (as a new thread), N2, MS, etc.....

what kind of obscure oddball forum is that????

Sam needs to get the word out. Nelsons with new pavement is huge news, especially if it someone finagles a schedule for bikes in '18!!! :)

I was noticing how the Moto 2 riders get the bike a little sideways going into turns, much more than Moto 3 or MotoGP riders. Any reason for that?

i actually asked that same question a while back (maybe another forum) and never really got a good answer. Having pondered this further since then, maybe these thoughts might help...First you have to ask why is it happening: it's certainly not for show, so it's either an artifact of the balance and traction of the bike that happens "just because", or it's induced by the rider to get the bike turned quicker.

In either case, the physics are fairly simple - under severe braking there's little to no traction offered by the rear tire, and if the bike is turned during this time (yaw) then that loose rear wheel will begin to slide sideways since there's little to hold it inline with the direction of travel. Add some rear brake *not me!* or downshift and whatever lateral traction you had disappears.

But why more so in Moto2???  I think the Moto3 bikes are light enough where the weight transfer is not dramatic enough to have as noticeable an effect, AND they maintain more corner speed than Moto2 or even MotoGP (ie, maybe they intentionally DON'T brake that hard, or for as long). And i guess it's possible that the million dollar MotoGP bikes are so much better that they don't move around as much as Moto2 (longer wheelbase, lower Cg, better brakes, better clutches,...) except maybe when Marquez is trying to bump Rossi from pole. MM backs it in better than most SuperMoto riders!

  11. Cool! I'm pretty much set to go (my truck decided to act up this week and i had to replace an ignition coil, and then a PS line...).

I'll be leaving early Fri morning and will try to get there before 5pm or so. I'll be in a black Tundra (no trailer) and blue EZ-up. I'll drive around the area that Tim pointed out (the end of the paddock nearest the last turn) and plan on camping there. If i don't recognize anyone i'll just set up in the general area.

BTW, the big boys from MotoAmerica will be racing at RA two weeks later. I wonder if any of them will be practicing this weekend with us????

No oil change? Or that was done before you put her away?

Yeh I do mine at the end of the season.

Got her ready yesterday and even went for a blast around the block to announce to the neighbors that riding season has officially started!

  13. right there with you guys - i just pulled the bike out of the shed, and planning on getting her ready this weekend:  water wetter, sprocket swap, new battery, and theoretically should be good to go!

i also added Atlanta to my weather app. Nice to see something other than tornados down there next week. 8>]

Hopefully my bike gets here soon.  Having some work done and getting nervous about having it in time.

i could probably work out a rental deal on your old cbr!  ;)

the guy who bought it (work buddy) painted it and never rode it. collecting dust in his garage.
