  1. Whats funny is when looking at car-part for example, it doesn't seem to matter the trim package, only if its a coupe, hatch or sedan. His is a CX hatch. Third gear is out, and there is only 1 place in Columbus with a transmission for it and they want $300. He is working part time at Jiffy Lube so if I can help him find one a little cheaper that would be good. The coupes you can pick up those for $150 but I want to make sure it will work for the car first.
  2. One wheel on the Mercedes is going low weekly. Discount tire says it's the wheel, corroded on the lip.

I didn't get to see it, so I'm not sure how badly.

Looks like a replacement is about $200 on fleabay. Would it be worth it to go to wheel medic, or just replace it?

Should I ask for someone specific?

If you go the wheel medic route just let them know you are with Columbus Racing. They usually give a discount to members.

  3. Some of you may notice some changes happening on CR.

We have brought back Super Moderators and Moderators.

Some of the Sub-Forums are gone.

Some of the primary forums are gone.

I will continue to look at the Sub-Forums and Primary ones to see if we can compress it down a little more.

Sticky threads have been cleaned up.

We are working on setting up a track day for this year. Also looking at doing groups for test and tune during some of the tracks normal schedule.

I am encouraging everyone to post up events in the Meetings & Events section for upcoming track events, car shows and hang outs. I am looking forward to attending a lot more car shows this year. Though I don't think CR will be hosting any car shows for a while, it is something that if we get enough support from members helping, we would consider.

Forum Registration is going to be opened up soon. I am working on it a little at a time. When it opens we will not require new members to make introductions anymore to see the rest of the forum. However in order to make sales threads they will still have to meet the current guidelines.

Lots more to come. Any suggestions or comments, I would love to hear them. Feel free to post them up here or MSG me.

  4. Welcome to Columbusracing.com! Feel free to post a picture of your car here and tell us a little about it. Be sure to read the sticky notes, they can generally answer most questions you may have. Also feel free to MSG one of the moderators if you can't find any answers to your questions.

Here is the way it should look!

    Buck531 11.75 @ 115.56 1.79 60' 11-7-20 --Fiero--supercharger

Remember this list is for entertainment; it is not the NHRA points championship so keep it fun.

  6. Anyone do radiator reconditioning anymore? We just had to drop a bunch of $$ on a radiator for our truck. Surprisingly they are not easy to find, not available at any parts store locally, only special order and had to order one online.

We thought about having the old one fixed as it is an end tank issue if people still do that kind of stuff and if its cheaper than buying a new one. Would like it for a spare. Would also be good to know a place that does it in case I ever need a radiator for my SVX as those are almost non-existent now.

  7. Unfortunately this is a shitty situation for both sides. We just experienced something similar with shops being shitty with people and trying to take their money for cars that aren't worth fixing.

We had an older lady that went to a local shop that gave her an estimate for $2k for front end repairs. She didn't have the money to fix it at the moment, so she left. Couple days later the rear suspension went through the body and she brought the car to us to trade in. They never told her about the rear end rust. This wasn't an independently run shop. You would kind of expect it from Bob the backyard mechanic but a large shop should tell people about this kind of stuff instead of trying to get $ out of people.

I understand when buying anything from CR members you have an expectation that all experiences with people should be perfect, but unfortunately when buying something this old with higher miles for <$1k everyone always needs to be aware of the risks involved thanks to Ohio's wonderful salted roads.

Hopefully the two of you can work something out or your able to sell it without losing money on it.
