  1. Great bike!! Rush makes a nice slip-on muffler for less than $200 for them too!! Those bags are made by Hardstreet (Hebron, Ohio) for Yamaha. Fun bike to ride!! Congrats!!
  2. I know since 2005 the rear cyclinder stops firing at an idle once it hits a certain temperature. I was stuck once in ATL traffic & thought something was wrong. That night I got out the OM & read about it. It actually works too! Even the car manufactures do the smae thing now. Diesel engines have been designed this way for years. Works!
  3. I guess I just can't understand that when a person, especially a fellow biker, has a bike stolen, so many can run the person down. AS for it "must be a chopper or HD", well, I know a few sportbikes valued much higher than that - lots of chrome too. High performance stuff, crazy paint....but, I guess thye got to be hated too??
  4. JBLOSSER - good luck! If you aren't a hater of the HD's or cruisers, well, the kids on here seem to come out & will try to put you down for being a lover of bikes! Great writing!! Loved to hear there was at least a few other people that don't care what a person rides, as long as they ride! I ride an HD & my girlfriend rides a Yamaha V-Star. Both loud!! And we both rack up the miles! Thanks for reminding everyone that we are all BIKERS! Stay safe & ride happy!
  5. Why? Because they have a better warranty? High resale value? High level of quality? Did it ever occur to you that not everyone can ride a sportbike??
  6. Both of my buddies had their necks snapped from the helmet. They heads were just fine. But cause of death was determined to be from the helmet. My cousin's accident was different. Because he was wearing a helmet, his head became the main projectile. His head got slammed in the car that actually clipped him. EMS crew said that had he NOT been wearing a helmet he would have missed the car completly, the OSP agreed. As for the accident in Sturgis, I think it was over-confidence of having the gear? I dunno. I do know the man had broken bones, head injuries, pretty messed up. Bottom line though, when it is your time to die, you WILL die. Safety gear can't save you then.
  7. Snobs are everywhere. And we aren't a crowd. I ride with sportbikes too.
  8. And as for the no helmet deal, here's a few reasons: 1. Helmets killed 2 of my friends in the last 5 yrs. 2. My cousin was killed by his helmet. 3. While in Sturgis in 2007 (yes, lots of sportbikes now! it's great!!) Iwitnessed an accident. The ONLY person critically injurred & flown out was wearing full gear! He later died. The ppl NOT wearing protective gear were treated on the scene for minor cuts. 4. I don't care if YOU wear a helmet, so don't mind if I DON'T! I would prefer to die free. And since I am not afraid of death, I'm happy. I've experienced so much in life already, so if I die today, I will die happy.
  9. WE have some great roads out here & east of here. Come check them out.
  10. 1. It wasn't a jab at a bike or gear. It was a jab at the person's stuck up attitude. They couldn't even just wave! 2. I have gear, but I choose to not always wear it. I bought & paid for that freedom, so I will use it. 3. Since I am comfortable in my manhood, I have no problems riding a girl's bike! 4. I ride a Harley as well...SO WHAT??? 5. I have owned 3 Hondas, 2 Kawasaki's, 4 Yamaha's, and 1 Ducati...NOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY?? Out of all those bikes, the HD has cost less & has yet to break down after 114,000 miles in 6yrs! And finally, the only time I see sport bike riders acting with such snob attitude is in Columbus! I also see HD riders there doing the same...WHAT GIVES?? Out here in Licking County, we don't worry about such petty things. It's that a person rides, not what they ride or what they wear, but that they actually ride! As for prooving anything...I prooved all I need to in the US Army! So, next time, why not wave? Why not be adult enough to appreciate a fellow rider? If any one else has more slams, I am sure they will be posted once school is out. For those who love to ride, really LOVE to ride...let me know! For those of you who think you can't ride with someone because its a HARLEY or not a sportbike....GROW UP!
  11. Actually, nothing to prove. I really enjoyed riding with person, even if they. Wanted to snub a cruiser. I like all the bikes, just after a broken spine & 2 surguries I can't ride a sport bike. The slam was for the Ducati rider acting so stuck up....a RUB. And if you were really in 2st, you oughta take better care of your bike! As for what wore, $10 jeans & a $2 shirt! $30 boots. Thanks for all the feedback, didn't realize this was open to teens.
  12. Hey, thank you for an enjoyable ride to the VA! I am sure you thought that since I ride a cruiser I had other intentions, but I didn't, I just caught up to you & passed you. What fun though watching you try to catch back up!! Slicing in & out like you're on a race track...I bet everyone was really impressed!! I knew you didn't llike the idea I passed you by the look you gave me through your expensive helmet & "I'm a wanna-be racer" attire. Maybe you will one day just be able to enjoy the ride & the brotherhood shared by bikers...at least I hope so. You see, I ride because it is me, who I am. I ride in the rain, the snow, the heat the cold...all year, as do many of us. I love friendly competition & a little fun, but, if you're going to be a hater....GO BUY A SCHWINN, please. PS - sorry you got passed up by a little ole 900 Yamaha, it was borrowed from my girlfriend.
  13. Has anyone on here rode the Hoka Hey Challenge? What about other challenges similar to it? Thinking of entering this next year as riding 800 to 1000 miles a day is fairly easy, but the roads they use will be the challenge. Not to mention the prize money!
  14. That IS a GREAT ride!!
  15. Not at all just an HD party!! ALL BIKES ARE WLCOME!! NO SNOBS PRESENT!! If you ride, then you should be there. Every single poker run in our area ALWAYS has all types of bikes!! Even the local bikeer bars on a fri or sat night. No one, and i mean NO ONE out here cares what you ride!! So, please come out!
  16. Been up there for years - I saw one for the first time in the late 80's. BTW, it's not the people coming across they care about...it's the drugs.
  17. The Victories are really good bikes. Lots of power, VERY comfortable, and handle great! The downside is that they are extremely over priced. It is really a lot of cheap plastic. Gives new meaning to fantastic plastic! Of their touring bikes, the saddles bags are REALLY small! I can fit more in just one of my HD bags than in both of theirs. I don't know about the warranty, but if they wont give you at least a 7 year warranty - pass it up!! I am a bit partial to the HD's, but I would also suggest looking at the Yamaha's. My GF just bought a brand new one - it's great, except for the warranty. Must be a Harley thing to offer long warranties?? Another thing to consider - how many dealerships are there? If you take a ride - extended - and need parts or work, how close would you be to one in any given place? I suggest either a Harley or a Yamaha or a Honda.
  18. The bulk of it is in Licking County & the cruise is in Heath & Newark. Good times!!
  19. What didn't you like about the stock air shocks? And the same abt the Proggressives? For the front, here is a tip...replace the oil with AMSOil. Its outstanding! I still have the stock rear shocks, they are made in Sunbury, and i adjust the air for the weight or where I'm riding.
  20. 1. Welcome to Ohio! LOL!! 2. Get a bigger bike. 3. if you think we are bad, try Arkansas!
  21. EAGLERIDER.COM. They rent all kinds of bikes, on-road & off-road. Water craft included!
  22. Better than a Harley? What constitutes that?? I know it can't be anything mechanical, because as we all know, Harley's hold their value more than any other bike because of the quality of the craftmenship. Or maybe it is? I mean, c'mon, I have 111,ooo miles on my Harley and it runs GREAT! I had two Hondas & they had to be replaced at 30,000 miles & my cousins Goldwing has had the engine replaced twice. Nope, can't be about the quality. How about the comfort of ride? Yes, so comfortable being crouched up - umm, nope. Each bike has it's own purpose, and they are all fun to ride. Real bikers don't care about the type of bike another rides, nor do they put it down, we just care that they ride. It is what we call brotherhood.
