Why the fuck anyone would ever want to ride around 270 "or anywhere near the city" is beyond me, come ride with some of us on some real Ohio twisty roads. You will either wipe out and wreck because you have no riding skills, or you will learn some riding skills and have a blast. You can only be a cheap ass for so long and ride a motorcycle, something will always give.

Swiss Army knife of motorcycles, HUGE following worldwide of them. Yes the aftermarket goodies available can break your wallet, and lots of mods can be done pretty reasonably for better all around performance. Gotta experiment with different bikes, doubt you would ever see me keep something as long as 10 years.

You are a bigger fella than Brandt, but yeah you are not going to get Multistrada acceleration from either Vstrom. The 1000 does move down the road pretty good and has a nice power hit, the new 1000 that is coming out looks very nice. The Versys 1000 is just butt ugly IMHO, and is 100% pure street bike compared to a Vstrom. I have seen many Strom riders frustrate or embarrass sport bike riders, but we all know that is more rider than machine.

I'm not, just don't see a need or desire to OC is all.....could give a rats ass whether you are anybody else chooses to do so. However you don't have to worry about what I think, I am not the police and or a citizen that is anti gun or a nosey pain in the ass.

You would fit better on it than me, and my 08 would not be much price diff over your 06. The C14's weight goes away when it gets rolling, and it can be ridden very briskly. If you are even a bit intrigued, let me know and maybe we can meet up sometime.

Lose the 1911 for bike carry, get a nice compact or subcompact for on the bike.
