  1. Last weekend I went on a trip to the tail of the dragon, and realizing I've never set sag or adjusted anything on my suspension, I decided to give it a go. The rebound adjusters(the ones on the top of the preload adjusters) are pretty well and frozen. I can get maybe 3/4 of a turn out of them.

What is going on here, where should i look to figure this one out? For what it's worth, the forks are non inverted style.

Chimp solves memory test 'faster than blink of an eye'

Ayumu the chimp can remember the location and order of a set of numbers in less time than it takes the average human to blink.

The prodigous can solve the puzzle in 60 milliseconds, at Kyoto University, Japan.

Ayumu is the son of Ai, a chimpanzee whose intelligence has been studied for over 30 years by Professor Tetsuro Matsuzawa.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, anyone?

  3. Walking hundreds, thousands of miles. I have grown accustom to USMC issued boots. I'm stuck on our new RAT boots. Made with gortex Kevlar... Good stuff, holds up well.

    QFT!

I wear the jungle boots. I have sweaty feet, and the RAT boots i have are the old style with absolutely no ventilation.

im looking for a pair of navy steel toe altamas or belleville's.

  4. I thought you guys might like this. My friend peter and I went down to the tail of the dragon last summer, with a GoPro and took a ton of video. My buddy is in to video editing, and this was the end result.

My friend, Pete, is on the orange Z1000. That was him that crashed. he was perfectly fine. bent the handlebars, and broke the tail plastics basically. 4 hours and epoxy and new protaper bars later, we were at it again!

  5. An F4i would make a fine track bike, ESPECIALLY if you pick it up for $1700.

The fork springs are light, I put Race Tech springs in mine, and have the stock rear spring. they offer springs and valve kits. to upgrade the stock forks to an acceptable level would cost around $250-300. The cool thing about Honda, though, you can put a different front end on it from newer bikes. say, a cbr1000. Also, a cbr1000 master cylinder would be a good idea as well.

Depending on your height, the clip-ons might hinder you, and if so, theres a write up on how to convert it to below the triple clamp. It requires cutting somewhere, though. If you do that, you'll probably want to relocate the rearsets as well.

You wouldn't have to spend TOO much money on making an F4i a good track bike, IMHO. Plus, F4i's are really tough. There's a reason many stunters prefer this bike. The engine(my 03 has 40,000 miles, and i've seen videos of a 200,000 mile F4i with only regular maintenence done), frame, subframe.

I've heard of the swingarms splitting at the welds, but if you add some washers in between the wheel and swingarm on the axle, you'll be good from what i hear. The swingarm...arms...get pinched too much, putting too much stress on the welds, so you take up the slack with the washers.

For a minimal investment, I'm positive it will meet, or exceed your needs. ESPECIALLY total cost.

  6. Hey all, new member from Lima, looking forward to meeting likeminded avid motorcyclists.

I ride a 03 CBR600F4i, the one in my sig. Yes, thats my actual bike, and yes, thats Waikiki. that was taken on a road called tantalus/round top drive, depending on where on the road you are.

I've been riding for a little over a year now, but since I used to live in Hawaii, I've managed to get around 5,000 miles of experience. I even managed to make it down to the Tail of the Dragon this summer!

My bike is my first bike, and it is also the first motorcycle I've ever thrown my leg over. It was love at first ride. I've had the wonderful oppurtunity to ride with great, seasoned riders, and I've learned so much from them, and I look forward to learning from more like them, and teaching what I can along the way. So if there are any rriders near me, I look forward to riding with you this summer!
