  1. I have a Fire Orange Mirror Shield I want to get rid of. I purchased it with a RF-1200 helmet but had to return the helmet due to it not being the right shape. The shop would not let me return the shield however since it was a “special order item”. I used this shield once and it does have a really small nick in the mirror near the shield raise lip. It should fit the RF-SR, RF-1200, & X-14 helmets.

    Asking $70 obo.

Here is what it looks like on a helmet. It’s sweet looking and I would still use it if it fit my Arai.

  2. Is it 5 or 6:30? Yesteray when I called they said 6:30. If its 5 I might be cutting it a little close since I dont get off until 3:30.

It wound up being 5. I still got 2 rides in during that time however. The guide was a pretty awesome dude and the bikes where nice. Bummer about the EmpulseTT being unavailable however. I was really looking forward to trying that one out.

Once my car is paid off the Vision will be mighty temping. Such an awesome bike. I need to try some sport tourers and adventure bikes next.

  3. Was it chucked in the corner for being bad? Pull it out and get some proper side view pics.

Still rocking S clipons or an N bar conversion?

It is stuck in the corner so I dont cry when I have to get in my car and go to work. I have a few decent pictures from last year that you can check out. Its a legitimate S but with the fairings removed. I rode it mostly for my work commute. Im having a hard time getting a car seat on it so I figured it was time for it to go.

  4. For sale is my 2005 SV650s. It has a repaired title, clear and in hand. It has approxamatly 19k on it. ODO shows I think 25k due to cluster being replaced. This was used mostly for commuting to and from work. Some recent life changes mean I need to get rid of the bike. I treated the bike well changing the oil every 3k with amsoil and k&n oil filter. Its always ran well for me and I always had a great time taking it out.

    It has a few extras:

Aztec8 duel 5 3/4 lights with cluster mount.

    Vortex adjustable rearset.

    Yoshi slipon.

    K&N airfilter.

    The bad:

Needs new tires. The rear is pretty bad. No its not from burnouts. Mostly highway riding killed the center tread.

    Needs new battery.

    Chain could use some love.

    Seat has 2 rips.

The paint has a few dings.

Please just reply to this post or PM any questions. Thanks!

  5. Please, if you go on the planned route post a ride report.

Sorry I wound up going to the rusty bucket instead.

Where can I rent a bolt at if you don't mind me asking?

There is a place called Eagle Rider. Its actually inside Iron Pony. They rent motorcycles. Mainly cruisers and tourers. The bolt was fun but im almost 6'5 and the pegs felt to high and center for my liking. It made my hips hurt after an hour or so. Im really glad I rented that and went on a long ride. I now know im not going to purchase one.
  6. That sucks when it costs ya money to miss out on a ride. I'm glad we didn't opt for a cabin rental like we did last time, that would have cost us pretty big. I say rent that bolt for 48 hrs and call in sick

If only it was that simple. Im doing some sort of ride tomorrow no matter what. I got the bolt and babysitter setup. Its to late to cancel them. Maybe I will go check out that rusty bucket. Have fun on sunday.

  7. Routes printed for leads, "who am I" stickers ready. Shirts loaded and ready. Bikes about ready to go. Now just holding off on the weather to about 5 to make a final decision on weather.

    Got any blank stickers?

I'll be there for sure tomorrow. If it makes anyone feel better weather underground is saying very little chance of rain. It will be chilly but we should stay dry.

  8. Head down rt 78 to the muskie bucket pic nic lunch there then head back home. 78 is a great ride even on a bagger.

I will definatly check that out on the SV looks like a fun ride. Thank you for the suggestion

Is this in hopes that she will want to ride with you more often, or is this

in hopes that she will be more accepting of you getting the bike you want?

If the bike you tease her with is not the very one that you want to end up

with, there could be attitude directed at you, down the road.

Put her on the very bike you dream of her enjoying, with you.  If she is

happy with it, and talks about it the next day with a smile on her face,

your chances are good that she'll want to be your riding partner, often.

    .

She understands that the bike I would rent out not be the same as one I would end up with. I think of it like renting a Bentley. Worth it for the day but not something I would want to pay for over the long run.

Get a VFR! All the sport and you can add a back rest if needed

I have seen Dacs bike and drool everytime. I wish I had the cash if so it would be sitting in front of my home.

I really appericated all the suggestions. Our anniversary was yesterday and that was the day I was planning this. I made the reservation for the Vision however the weather dident turn out the way I wanted. I had to cancel the Vision but we still went ziplining and had a blast. For the moment the bike rental is on hold until later in the summer.

  9. Hocking Hills is pretty much all you need. Hop around cave to cave and that will be likely most of the day. The BBQ joint down there I hear is good but I've yet to be able to try it

Cave hopping sounds fun. Thanks for the suggestion.

Make it an overnight and stay here (hocking): http://www.getaway-cabins.com/special_occasions.htm

That would break the ride time in half over 2 days, which might be good unless she is OK with a lot of hours on the bike.

I actually have their magnet on the fridge. My wife and I love the cabins. But it's hard finding a babysitter that will do overnights.

Ditch the 2-3 hour thing. That is too long on the bike for her first real ride. An hour or so each way. So Hocking and the zip lines is a great idea. Another would be Mansfield, hit the reformatory, then the carousel and then lunch. Buy her lunch, don't try and pack it. Take all the stress and planning on her part out of it.

She has no ideas about this trip. She just knows we need an all day babysitter at some point in the near future. I'll be packing the lunch and that's why I'm going with a bagger so I have some storage.

Get a girlfriend that likes motorcycles.

    Problem solved.

Well we are kinda married and have an awesome daughter. I love her to death and she is an amazing mother.

You wouldn't want her wanting to ride bitch all the time anyways. It's gets old.

First things first let me get her just enjoying the ride then maybe we can think about a riding course.

    Thread hijack complete.

    Lol this picture is great.
  10. Greetings fellow riders. I am planning a date with my wife to try and show her why I love motorcycles. I own a SV650s and she has only ridden with me once and hated it due to no back rest and forward posture. She said she would feel much better riding on a cruiser. Im having a hard time selling the idea  of getting rid of my bike and getting a cruiser to her. I think I have come up with the best way to show her how fun it can be.

What I know so far is I want to rent a Victory motorcycle and do some sort of picnic lunch somewhere. I wanted to ask some of you for some help. I want a destination thats nice and scenic like a national park or the like. I also want to try and plan a nice route thats not all just highway. I would prefer to stick to the backroads. I also need to keep the trip to within 1 day from around 10am-5pm due to rental hours. So here is a summary of what im trying to accomplish and 2 questions.

A nice destination 2-3 hours from Coulmbus.

A nice route to said destination.

    A fun activity to do.

Should I have others join and make it a group ride or go solo?

Should I rent the Victory Cross Country Tour or Vision?

I am trying to keep this fun and a little romantic. I was thinking of maybe something around Hocking Hills with lunch at a nice park and maybe a little nature hike. Im also thinking about the zipline tours. We did a zipline park on our honeymoon and loved it.

I apperciate any help and will be very grateful.

  11. Did you have a light on your plate?

Yes in fact the light on my plate that barely covers the Ohio Title is why they wrote the infraction.

The way I read and interpreted this....

Thank you! Getting a second opinion has help me understand the code more.

    Pics of plate would help.

Did you ask the officer who wrote the ticket say what you can do to make it " legal" for him? This is what I would have done and tried to avoid the ticket. If nothing was said I would take a picture and hope the judge is cool because you could have always moved the tag later after the ticket and then take a picture.

No I tend to try and use the least words possible. You know the whole anything I say can be used against me thing keeps me quite.

  12. I went through the DUI stop on 4th today. I was on my motorcycle and they had me do a field sobriety test. Of course I passed since I don't drink.

So since I passed and I feel they needed to give me something they wrote me a ticket for obscured tag.

I and everyone else can read my tag easily. I didn't argue it at the time cause that is not the time and place to argue.

Is there anything that I can do with this? If I take a photo in and show a judge that its easy to read would they drop it?

There is also this ORC I found that I don't quite understand. Anyone care to clear this up? 4511.093

I read it one way and it says they can't write another offense but then I read it again and it seems like they can. I dunno very confusing. I would appreciate any help.

  13. It works for me like 90% of the time, the issue i have is sometimes it has me going in circles if the outlay of the road is tricky.

I'd like to attach my phone or GPS to my bike somhow w/o having to pay like $50 for a mount. I had to replace my clutch perch on my bike and the clutch perch came off a different bike that had the mirror u screw into it. Well my mirros dont screw into my clutch perch so I'm going to see if my uncle can rig somethnig that I can simply screw into the perch and attach my phone w tip ties or something lol

I would try these guys they are awesome at mounts.

An SV650 is no slouch - enjoy what you have!

No need to apologize for being conservative on the turns - your brain is just trying to protect you. It'll learn what's necessary and when it's unnecessary if you just stretch it a little at a time. Nothing crazy, just little stretches.

Anyway, I'm game for a relaxed ride most weekends and some evenings too now that it's light until 8 or so. I'm probably one of the more conservative riders on the board due to multiple factors, but I wouldn't call my style boring either. It's about reasonable risk mitigation I guess.

Trust me I love my SV its a very fun bike. However it is not all that great on long long rides.

For example I would love to ride down to my dads house in FL but I don't think an almost 1000 mile ride on the SV would be fun.

Thanks, I am pretty fond of it. You are more than welcome to go with me sometime, matter of fact I encourage it. There will be absolutely no pushing it from me, just follow me and RELAX, don't gaze, don't space out, don't over think. The bike wants to go where you tell it to, relaxed body position and look where you want to go. Worst thing you can do is to look down at the road while in the curve, but looking on down the road to where you want to go is what you wanna do. Any braking needs to be done before the curve if you can avoid it, use those gears to scrub off some speed. Staying in a lower gear in the twisty bits and choosing the proper gear to use is ideal, engine braking is usually your friend. Don't be afraid to rev that bad boy, those SV's love to rev!!! I am still a bit sheepish and paranoid about going offroad again due to my shoulder injury last year, but I am also not quite physically ready or healed enough to do so. But I will none the less, much to the concern from my Wifey. I think 541 would be a great road for you to get some confidence back on, no real surprises on that road. Hit me up sometime, we can go out even if it is just for a bit, can always ride around Hoover and Alum Creek area to start out.

I might take you up on this once I get my new chain. There are a few rust spots and I wanna replace it before I start to try and drag my boots again.

  14. Stay away from traffic and people, you need to get out in the country and hit those twisty roads. Riding in straight lines does little for you, and get out and ride in the rain some too. You have to get your confidence back, and to do that you must get a bit out of your comfort zone.

You sir have my dream bike.

Someday I might see if someone can take me back and ride. I just feel bad keeping a group from their preferred speed if I cant handle it. I kinda freeze up on the blind curves and tend to slow way down.

I have also been thinking about doing a novice day at Mid-Ohio to get back to the peg grinding I am missing.

  15. I have yet to ever ride hocking, i haz ben there once to stay w my gf in the cabins - but i agree it is nice and curvy (take that however u want lol)

My main issue riding that far is my limitations when it comes to my sense of direction. I dont have a way to hook up my GPS or phone to my bike so i cant see where I'm going. SO I have to put my phone in my coat and I have a pair of Bose In Ear's w noise cancelling - which works great, but sometimes google maps on my phone is half retarded.

How do you guys go about attaching a GPS or your phone to your bike? I know it kinda depends on your bike, but I have yet to fig it out.

I have a iphone 5 and use the TomTom app and headphones. It has treated me well so far. Its good enough to be able to follow just by voice. Or at least I think so.
