  1. Greetings!

My name is Mike and I live in Blacklick. I very much look forward to being apart of the community. I do not have a bike yet but wanted to get on here and introduce myself.

I am currently in the market for a bike and have right at about 3k to spend. Cant really go more than that due to my Misses aka the banker. :p

I have a question for you guys. I found a 01 Katana in what looks to be good shape. The rear tire looks like it needs a replacement and there is a small amount of rust on the outside of the chain. There are 2 little imperfections on the paint but other than that it idled nicely and seems like a nice bike. It was owed by someone who seems legit and only has 11k miles.

Here is the twist he wont let me test ride it until the title is in my name. That scares me a little bit as I am afraid that something may be off that cant be seen without a test ride.

2nd he is asking for about 400 over kbb due to it having 1/2 the miles its suppose to have per kbb charts of a 2001 motorcycle. Does that seem normal?

Thank you guys for having such an awesome community and help with my first time buying experience.

  2. First up is a 10 inch kicker solo-baric. This is the stock sub that comes with Dodge or Chrysler vehicles with the upgraded stereo. It has the speaker, box, and a 200w amp inside. Im sure someone smart enough could figure out the wires and get it working off a normal stereo. figured I would try and get $100 for it.

Next is a motherboard, cpu, cpu cooler, and ram. I would like to try and get $200 for this. Older but still good stuff. I am trying to keep it all together since the cooler is put on with as5 and its a pain in the ass to redo.

    intel E6600 core 2 duo

OCZ 2 gigs ddr 800 ram tight timings

Next 2 things are pretty random. Computer that was given to me by my old job. It runs but needs a power supply and cd rom. Not sure the cpu but I was going to use it for a file server/media server. Would like $50.

Last is a cheap case I got from microcenter. Never used. comes with 300 watt power supply. Would like $30. I bought this case just for the power supply to run the old work computer. It worked but I never got a chance to install an os due to not having a pata cd rom.

I will be out of town tomorrow but more than happy to meet anyone on Sunday if you want any of this stuff. All proceeds go to get Mike a motorcycle fund.

34mi route Mike (SRTmike08) and i rode today. New bike is AMAZING compared to my old bike...was able to keep it in the large ring all day, even riding UP one of the nastier hills around hoover dam. Was an awesome day to get out. Hopefully i can get some more seat time in this week after work.

Yea sure was a fun ride. Not riding this winter was a bad choice. Evan was kicking my ass. I am gonna have to work my ass off to get back to were I was last year.

Ibuprofen and PB&Js are the best after ride meds ever! lol

If the weather holds up we should go for a ride on Thursday.

  4. Thanks for starting the thread Evan! I hope to get to ride with you a bunch once the weather warms up. Speaking of I might go on a ride Friday if its warm enough.

I cant wait for Pelotonia! If I can get 2k in donations by July 9th then I will be changing to the 180. If not I'm going for the 100.

If you guys feel like helping me out then click away! My Pelotonia profile.

  5. Thanks for the replies guys. I like the Arcadia and Tahoe ideas. I don't think the X will work however as they want to buy new so that they get a warranty.

They don't really have a price range. They are retired and doing well but would rather spen money elsewhere than on lets say a Landrover.

  6. This is not for me but my Grandmother since her Caddy just died. I figured I would ask you guys because her requirements are odd.

Here is a list of requirements in order of importance.

    Safety

    Power adjustable pedals

    SUV

    Crossover

    Full size car

American Branded (I would say American Made but I know better. :p)

I figured getting a list made for her wouldn't be to hard however finding power adjustable pedals has turned out to be a pain. I was going to suggest a Grand Cherokee but did not see the pedals listed on the website. I find that odd since im fairly sure prior generations did have that feature.

Anyways if you guys know of some new cars that have power adjustable pedals and kinda fit the above specs I would love to know what they are.

Got out for 38.5 miles today with Mike (SRTmike08) and Grant (GMoney)...2:20...nice night to get out. i made the mistake of not snacking early enough before, and figured a bagel would be enough 30 min before the ride...before mile 4 after that first hill, i felt like i was going to throw up. stomach was killing me...had to stop for a few minutes and let that go away. afterwards all was good

and i will say, mike has made a huge improvement over the first time i rode with him 7/16...then, he was hurting by mile 25ish and having a hard time keeping up...last couple times ive ridden with him, he leaves me behind bad...thats the advantage of having long ass legs and being so thin.

my legs are killing me, probably top 3 pain wise ive had after a ride...i know ill be sleeping good tonight...and if the wind isnt too bad from that hurricane this weekend, might head out again

I have the same long ass legs I had in Lancaster lol. The big difference is I have been kicking my own ass riding lately.

I swear I have a really odd ride routine but you should try it and see what your legs feel like after a long ride. This may sound crazy and maybe its all in my head but I eat a PB&J with a glass of chocolate milk about 2 hours before a ride. Gets me a nice start with some extra carbs and protein. Then after a ride I usually have another glass of chocolate milk seems to help with muscle recovery.

O and lets not forget I have started taking daily vitamins as well.

  8. Ok, so Pelotonia lit a fire under me. Jsut rode the 23 mile route saturday and tonight when I got home I up and headed out for a ride. Didn't plan too, but I couldn't resist. I'll post a few pics in the pic section.

I see now how you guys ride such long distances now. I never thought I'd ride the 23 mile route when i signed up. It was more of a personal challenge. Tonight I rode 15.98 and had to stop due to the sun setting. It's addicting. Can't wait to get up early tomorrow and ride before work.

EDIT: This Map My Ride thing, the BlackBerry app has terrible reviews. How well does it work?

Fun isn't it? I do not think I ever saw myself riding as much as I am now. It really is great to just go out and kick your own ass and enjoy it lol. I did not get a chance to do Pelotonia this year but I WILL be doing it next year for sure. I heard it was an excellent event.

i think his is a garmin brand...he said it was a few hundred bucks but he uses it for other stuff...it was nice for the tour ride we did in july, he loaded the maps, and just yelled out when to turn left/right...none of us really had to bust out the paper maps except for one detour where a bridge was out

I use a Garmin Dakota 20. I originally purchased it for Geo-Caching but find myself using it more for my bike now. If you wanted to go the route of gps I would recommend the Garmin Edge series.

I wish i was off before 8 during the week to ride after work...i dont go in til 11, so i could ride before, bit since everyone is at work, id have to ride solo, which gets boring after a while

What? I just did a 11 mile ride at like 12:30am. Its great at night. so much cooler.

  9. Anyone else a fan of Cazuelas on campus?

Best chips and queso that I have had in town. Their horchatas are damn good too.

Edit: Ignore me I did not see the part about Tuttle. That would be my clue to go to bed now. lol

  10. I have a bike and PS3 wheel that is just collecting dust. I would like to get these out of my place.

The only thing I changed on it is the seat. It has a cloud 9 gel seat. It would make a good commuter bike with road slicks. Components are in great shape. Ill tune the derailleurs if anyone wants to buy it.

The frame size is 22". Great for those who are tall.
