You can just practice at CRP for $15 any day they don't have an event (most days open). Just need bike and safety gear. Run all day for cheap. No food served there unless an event is planned, so bring drinks and snacks

Are you saying that the honor guard are the same as the ones assigned to protect camp David? I don't know this for sure but would highly doubt it. The honor guard from what I saw was pretty boys only.

Yes, I was in the Navy, a so called squid. I was integral in keeping the USS Pennsylvania operational and underway. Battle stations diesel operator for years. FYI, the vessel I was on had more firepower than the entire history of the US Marine Corps. You clearly don't understand that all Honor/Color guard personnel are 'decoration'. Those guys holding an umbrella didn't have a rifle with them. I bet they didn't even have an operation rifle assigned to them, only a ceremonial one with the barrel filled with lead. You seem to have bought into the brain washing of the Marines. The US Marines has been doing Honor Guard for decades and will likely be doing it decades from now. Not sure how you can overlook their assignment which has nothing to do with being a rifleman and feed me some bullshit about how they are rifleman first... Chris

They are also known as "honor guard". All branches have representatives, mostly doing funerals at Arlington National Cemetery. They also do important functions at the White House. They are there for arriving foreign leaders, etc. Majority are just out of boot camp for 2 year assignments. I was approved for the job, but decided getting out after 6 years made more sense. Plus, standing around in DC in the winter time didn't sound fun. The rest of the job looked really cool. A lot of time twirling a rifle around, etc. Chris

Repeat, the Color Guard stationed in DC are the pretty boys who stand around. This is part of the military and has been for a very long time. It was one of my choices when I was considering extending my time in the Navy. Most are brand new straight out of boot camp. A few are E5/E6 who manage the E1/E2's. I went and interviewed with them. Ultimately, I got out of the Navy, but I thought it would have been a cool gig to be at the white house and other places around high level world leaders, even if just standing there looking pretty. Therefore, these marines aren't being disrespected in any way. It's their job! Not every marine is a front line fighter. And if you haven't figured it out from the earlier posts, it's not the Color Guard's job to protect the president. The Secret Service does that and they are the ones with the guns when around the President. Stop whining about petty and meaningless shit. Learn the real problems facing this nation and bitch about those instead (pretty please). Chris

Most of the well dressed service members are part if the color guard. Most go straight there from boot camp and their job is to stand around and look pretty. Usually members from all 4 branches. They do the funerals, heads of state dinners, etc. Definitely unarmed. They still are happy with the military and haven't experienced much People whine about everything Obama does. Some deserved, much undeserved.

I will be very unhappy if the closure is blocking the gap from Fontana. First, getting to the GAP is super fun road. Plenty fast and fun. Second, most of the good roads from Fontana start by heading to the bottom of the Gap.

Those SM's always think they are faster than everyone. Ha! I lost that guilt feeling more than a decade ago watching people crash behind me on my FZR400. Ah the good ole days. Practice practice practice. Some people will never be okay getting left behind so they need to practice (on a track) or quit. Others have 'given in' and accepted their personal pace. Be safe. Fast and light = maintenance intensive. I can't believe what a CRF250R needs for maintenance. I bought it as a Kart track race bike in SM class. SM's on the street are hooligan type which can get you in a lot of trouble. Ducati and others still sell them on the high end, but they aren't light like dirt bike conversions. Honda is releasing a CR250L this year but still has the 21 and 18" tires. Not 17" like we want for good tire selections. The honda 230 is an embarrassment. Probably best to just buy a DRZ400 used. Apparently they last a long time. Chris

Sign me up in the 'brights are best'. No one is blinded by a bright headlight in daytime. The sunlight on the surface of Earth is many times brighter (100,000 Lumens) compared to my headlight on bright (around 1000, 2000 lumens at most) No one is blinded by a typical motorcycle headlight during the daytime. They are likely to notice you and question why you would ride around with your brights on, but they just need to be educated. Something along the line 'Science has shown that people don't notice things that won't kill them as easy as those that will'. IE, you may pull out in front of a bike, but unlikely for an 18 wheeler. Also being thin, etc doesn't help. Therefore the bright light draws attention, even if you think it's rude. It could save both of your days from being ruined by a stupid collision and/or death. Yes, you could wear bright clothing to also help, but both would still be better. I do think it's weird to have one headlight on each side. People still tell me about my burnt out light. Plus the aforementioned lack of symmetry. Chris

Big difference between saying you will do it and actually doing it. Before I would ever attempt, I would want to see the actual sprayer in advance and push my bike under. Not sure how fast one of those can change lanes.
