  1. Anybody up for a ride tomorrow around 11-2? I work until 10:30, break until 3:15 so I want to take advantage of the nice weather.

I know the Troy ride's going on, but by the time we would get to Caesar's Creek I would have to be heading back to work. So, if anyone wants to find some more local twisties PM me for some contact info!

Had a great last 2 days riding with Zach and Ninjachk.

  2. It was a fun ride, good to meet you man. We stopped at the hamburger wagon and got lunch, but of course i didnt have any cash on me so bitani grabbed the bill. Thanks man!

It was only $10. Not like you were breaking the bank. :p

Good ride! Hope to do it again!

  3. There really is no comparison. The only people you'll hear countering this opinion are people that bought droid hardware and are trying to justify their cheaper purchase to themselves. I know a fair number of people that have owned both droid based and iOS based products and every single one of them prefers apple after owning both.

I owned my iPhone 4 for a year and Droid for 4 years. I hated my iPhone, love my droids.

  4. I was thinking about this thread earlier, and I may email an Ohio Congressman (State House, not Federal) after the election and offer to draft an amendment to the ORC that would allow for (not provide) motorcycle officers to wear proper safety gear.

At the same time, I would approach a manufacturer like Pilot Leathers (possibly a group of vendors) and see if they'd be interested in designing a 2-piece suit that complies with the amended uniform requirements in my proposed legislation.

I understand the law, and I understand motorcycle gear. I'm not an LEO, but I think I could talk to a couple motorcycle cops and accommodate 99% of their needs while still substantially improving their level of protection on a bike.

In my mind, protection is piece is already solved by the leather manufacturers, but the police uses and visibility concerns would need to be adequately addressed.

It could be a huge (no-cost) PR win for some Ohio Politician. Pro-police, and wouldn't cost taxpayers anything unless municipalities wanted to spring for the gear, or officers bought their own. That provides a unique opportunity for a vendor to jump in and make a heroic PR move at the same time.

"police" compliant leathers available to LEO's for $200 a pop with a minimum order quantity. (or something similar).

I really think it could be win/win, but the first step is amending the uniform guidelines to even ALLOW for the market to exist.

What politician would ever pass that up? Awesome idea.

  5. Or you could get a Nexus 7 with better specs for $80-$130 less that'll do the same things better.

But working for Best Buy (I actually know my stuff unlike most of the associates), I would definitely say the 7" (more like 8" for iPad Mini) would be better for your uses. iPads are too bulky for constant carrying and using at the same time in my opinion.

  6. It's a little ridiculous how all of these big companies sue one another over the dumbest things. There's no way to innovate without competition, and all they care about is money.

Regardless of what other people say, I do think Google is probably the company with the best, by far, overall company morals.

  7. At that age i think they only thing that will stop him will be if he cant afford it......mainly insurance. Please tell me his parents wont be adding him and that bike to their ins policy.

A basic policy thru Progressive i just did for a 17yo with basic coverage is $337 a mo. on a 09busa. Thats only giving you their lowest bodily injury/property damage coverage.

If that doesnt stop him, nothing will.

Hell a 05 600cc sportbike bike is still $200 a month with the same crap coverage per progressives website!

Eh, I'm 18 right now with an '03 ZX6R (636 cc). At 17 my basic rate was $60/mo. FULL collision would be $195/mo, though.

  8. It depends on city ordinance - I think C-bus is 10pm? Call the non-emergency line, they'll let you know.

Well, I'd feel like a dick if I was jamming that late in the night - but I'll probably call and ask just for reassurance.

What receiver did you end up getting?

Yamaha RX-V673BL. Some buddies of mine told me it was a really good one.

    Link to it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Yamaha+-+875W+7.2-Ch.+A/V+Home+Theater+Receiver/4566061.p;jsessionid=B04C74E0B5EBE9BE25CF0F0FC0FD6DA8.bbolsp-app04-36?id=1218487070128&skuId=4566061&st=rx-v673bl&cp=1&lp=1

  9. And ah, cool. I don't think this many people who actually have experience with the apartment full-on sound system were in the last thread, unless my memory fails me.

I live on the 2nd floor with the same sub (good call btw). just use the knob on the back of the woofer to turn the volume down enough that you can hear it but not enough to rattle anything. Long story short...during the day you arent breaking any laws.

Somebody actually told me yesterday that in most areas "disturbing the peace" isn't effective with loud music until like 11 PM. :p

I'm pretty pumped. The receiver should be in in a few days.

  10. I agree, nothing you can do to tune an apartment without tearing out walls. Like I said in my response to your last post, if you want to make the best of a $10,000 stereo, you need a $35,000 room to put it in. I wouldn't worry too much about your home theater until you have your own digs.

I didn't even remember you saying that, but it makes complete sense. If I didn't say it in the last thread, though, I DO plan on taking this system with me to my own place after college. (From what I've heard, speakers definitely DO last a helluva long time.) I don't like spending any sizable amount of money just to replace it in a few years. Get the best and you don't have to upgrade!

  11. Hey guys. So if you saw my last thread about getting a speaker set - up I got them and a 450W sub.

Now, since my neighbors already complained about a less powerful sub, (they're above me, apartment), does anybody know of a way to dampen the sound going above so they don't complain again? I know soundproofing is nothing less than impossible, but I'd like to make it as not likely as possible.

I'm positioning the sub in a corner and the speakers are just 5.0 Quintets.

    Thanks!
