Great meeting you guys, it's nice to put faces with names hope to see you all again for the epic ride.
-
From everything I have read, your symptoms are the same as what I have experienced with my past motorcycles = bad gas.
You may have run it a week ago, just enough to suck some bad gas in. Anyway, my guess is that you are going to have to take it in or find someone to clean our your fuel system.
Bike would start but die on rev. Take it in, get it serviced and you will be good to go.
draining all gas tomorrow and pulling the carbs for cleaning and filling back up with some 87 from BP not sure I trust Speedway now though it may be my fault for using high octane.
-
well tomorrow I am taking the tank off and pulling the carbs, hope i don;t screw this up and end up with a bike that is dead for good.
-
15 minutes away, see you all soon.
-
Yeah sorry Tim...it makes you feel better my bike still isn't running.
-
I would go buy a siphon or use a hose and get the tank as empty as possible and put in some fresh 87
Well for now I am done until tomorrow it's still revving up to 4.5k rpm and then dies. I really do not want to take the whole bike apart to get to the carbs seeong as how I do not have the place to work on it other than outside.
-
Haven't pulled the carbs off.
-
Drained carb bulbs put in new plugs still wants to die on throttle.
-
Sigh, This damn issue is keeping me from getting sleep.
-
Choke pulls fuel through a different hole than the idle circuit or the other circuit. . Betting its got a tiny piece if crap stuck in a jet. If this is a carbed model.
Sadly this is the carbureted.
-
Diaphragms are cheap and easy to replace dude, don't fear the carburator, its a very simple little machine.
I fear taking it apart and not being able to get it back together lol
-
right now my biggest fear is it dies when I roll on the throttle because one of the diaphragms are damaged.
-
I love fuel injection.
Yeah trust me was pissed when they announced the 300 shortly after getting this.
-
Doesn't sea foam smoke a ton?
it should but I did not get any in the 5min run to get it in the system.
-
-
It really needs to be circulated throughout the fuel system, if you can get it to fire a few times to draw some into the carbs it might do more for the problem
yeah I put some in the tank and ran it for 5 minutes should be plenty in the system.
-
Since its stalling immediately with the choke on and wont fire without the choke, I'm assuming it's starving for fuel so there's probably some gel in the carbs. You've been storing it outside since you got it back right? I'm with the SeaFoam idea, and it wouldn't hurt to keep some in each tank full for a while.
yup Seafoam is in the tank now, hope it setting over night breaks up any gunk. Going to start it up in the morning and see what happens.
-
Seriously though, try running 87 from now on. Higher octane fuel likely is hurting your bike more than helping it.
plan on it after this issue is resolved.
-
if all else fails I'll make Hoblick an offer he can't refuse...or try to anyway.
-
well going to let it sit over night with the seafoam hopefully cleaning out the system.
-
Well final update for the night will rev to 4k and starts to die.
-
Okay so bike is running now after seafoam but is cutting out now at 3k. Going to do another treatment tomorrow since I am running out of daylight. As for gas I go to speedway and get premium.
-
Will it run longer when you start it up if you let it sit for longer between each attempt to start?
For example...
Let the bike sit for 5 minutes, start it - How long does it run without throttle?
Let the bike sit for 1 minute, start it - How long does it run without throttle?
Let the bike sit for 2 seconds, start it - How long does it run without throttle?
Let the bike sit for 10 seconds, start it - How long does it run without throttle?
What happens it you start it at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full throttle? Make sure it is not in gear and is in neutral!
Doesn't matter how long it sets symptoms still the same.
-
going to try seafoam first.
Please Help!!
