Made a last minute decision to take a three-day weekend and head out to ride a bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway and swing through Deal's Gap. Also decided that I would pop my motorcycle camping cherry and give that a go instead of staying in hotels along the way. I just have to get through work tomorrow morning and then I'll be heading south!

Love mine, picked it up a week ago and put a couple hundred rounds down range so far.

Gotcha, I wish they had one for an XDS... I have been thinking about one for my XD9 subcompact though...

Great ride guys. I apologize I am terrible with names but thanks to the yellow cbr that towed our "medium slow" group around. We had a blast.
Good to hear man. Glad I didn't bore you guys with the "medium slow" pace we were running.
-
So anyone with a head count? Or post how many was in your group, ours ended with about 20.
A few of us started in the slow group and then split off at the gas station. I lead 4 of us back to the mall (after a slight detour through Logan ) at a "medium-slow" pace.

Well, the tires ran flawlessly on the EPIC ride. I wouldn't say I was pushing them to the max, but they stuck just fine at the speeds we were running. Now to see what kind of mileage I get out of them.
Also want to see if they are as good as advertised in the rain, but I don't plan on the CBR leaving the comfort of the garage if it's already raining out...

Made it home a few hours ago. Nice meeting everyone and this was a great start to what is shaping up to be an awesome riding season. I'm looking forward to some more rides with you fine people!

I also have an XL left if anyone is interested in it.
$15 shipped or I can bring it to DynoTune MotorSports on the 18th for Dyno Day.

Thanks for hooking me up with the tank! It fits great. And I'm really glad we didn't have that "who wears it best" contest with the whole crewIt sure would have been an interesting contest...

I rode dirt bikes growing up so i understood riding but my wife wanted to learn to ride too. So i scheduled both of us to take the course. It was a good refresher for me. She never drove a bike let alone sit on one before the MSF. She could drive stick so i'm sure that helped some. But she was able to learn it all and pass the course by the end.
That was also the last time she rode a bike too. She doesn't feel comfortable enough or confident enough to ride on the street. I've tried to get her to ride again but she doesn't want too. O-well, less worrying i have to do.
My wife is the same way. I have been riding for a bit and we both took the course last year. She had never been on a motorcycle before and passed with flying colors. She has only been out a few times with me and isn't overly interested in riding. I don't push the issue and just offer up a ride once in a while.
The course reinforced what I had learned through experience over the years. The learning curve would have been a lot less had I taken the course at the beginning rather than 10 years down the road....

I marked off Kanawha State Forest near Charleston and Mt Mitchell on my GPS as possible campgrounds. The plan is to head east along the Ohio river today and get a few hundred miles in. Then head south and catch up with the Parkway. I would like to stop somewhere just south of the Dragon on Sunday night, so I can hit it Monday morning before slabbing back to Cincinnati. I am open to suggestions as the route is definitely not set in stone.
