  1. It will be good to be seen. Mentally, I really, really need this. Counseling costs too damn much.
  2. Thanks for all of the advice. Planning an expedition to the Iron Pony now. I'll use it as my prep for the Epic Spring Ride. Gotta get this done. Been blessed to ride three years without hitting the pavement but when I do I want to get back up.
  3. With the understanding that a helmet is highly personal and subjective does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality helmet? My large nugget means that comfort is the #1 priority, with quietness 2nd and weight 3rd. I will probably maintain my preference to flat black with a mirrored shield. An internal sun visor would be a bonus. Currently have a cheap Scorpion that has served me well as a 1st helmet but its time I moved up to the big boy leagues. I'm riding a naked Triumph,
  4. Put me down for the slow group. Old man needs to save endurance for the trek down and back that night.
  5. I'm really trying to see how "its dumb" to want a nice looking stand for my garage. Unless you have a critical comment about the stand's construction as shown I don't see how that's relevant.
  6. The Triumph logo is kind of what does it for me. Without that it's just a stand.
  7. Just my two bits on the conversation - I'm new but have run a non-profit organization for several years with 210 members and this has some similarities. Your current event is unique and seems very enjoyable for the participants. You don't want to mess with that secret sauce, only tweak it from time to time to keep it interesting. A totally separate event could be just what the doctor ordered but you don't want to come out of the gate with a major event. They have a higher probability of failure and the tendency to leave a very bad taste in the mouths of those that put in the most work to put them on. Maybe start with some smaller regional social events to see how much actual interest you have. If those take off you can then consolidate into a larger event. Among "biker groups" this one seems unique. You want to keep that; whatever "that is". Most social organizations like this are one personality blow-up away from becoming defunct. Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  8. Sorry for the late post. It's been non-stop since I got back. Father-in-Law is a bit sick and I worked Sunday. I had a great time on the ride. The 2nd half was crazy cool with the transitions - nothing like that up north. I'll be honest though the ride down sucked with the fog and temperature plus I had just got off work. My apologies if I was a bit non-talkative. I was a little tired all day and I was solely concentrated from being the sole one to kiss the pavement. That's the longest ride I've ever taken and the trip back through farm country at night was a strange one but glad for the experience. Everyone in the "slow" pack was great; the ride went off without a hitch. Jack was a great lead and our sweep (sorry! can't remember screen name ) was always right there. I wish I had of taken some pictures but again I was kind of focused. Thanks to the organizers. I know these events don't just go well by themselves. Surprisingly I wasn't sore at all next day. Funny story - when I came in my wife was waiting to hear the bike so she could open the garage. I went to walk in the house and she let out a scream and told me to get my bug encrusted butt outside and made me drop my gear, including pants outside. My girls came downstairs to see what the ruckus was about and busted out laughing seeing me in my skivvies looking like "a rabid ferret" according to one. Funny now - wasn't then. If this goes off in the spring I'll plan to attend but will probably stay the night in the area so that I can go out with the group after the run. If I can help with the organizing, setup, etc. let me know. I like to feel useful. How Al Z. Heimer pilots that Star Cruiser around the curves at that speed is still a mystery to me. Everyone stay safe.
  9. Silly question: Most make the route without refueling? My idiot light comes on around 120-130 depending on how I ride at which point I gamble with the devil on how far I can get.
  10. My opinion is that the weight of the bike is just as important as the power of her first bike. Being light herself she'll be much more comfortable on a bike that is as light as possible for maneuverability and confidence building. The Ninja 300 is a blast and its a lot quicker than you would think. I started on a SV650 which worked out fine but I believe I would have had more fun sooner with another choice. Either way gear her up, discipline her throttle hand and enjoy the ride.
  11. Will do my best to be at the 7am meet. I'll just be getting off from the night before so I'll be a bit hairy around the edges. lol
  12. I'm in for the Medium group. Rolling down from the northern lake.

  14. Congrats man. Always nice to see a rider back in the seat.

  16. Where do you ride when you have no place to ride to? I think I have a conflict here that needs a solution. I have a sport bile soul with a cruiser mentality. I like the feel, nimbleness and looks of sport bikes but have a cruiser personality. I don't like to ride the city streets acting crazy. Back roads and highways are my playground and I like to just go. The Street triple is mana for my soul but its limited range and lack of any storage options becomes problematic. Plus, even though it has a very comfortable riding position after an hour or so instead of carving roads the seat is carving my butt. I'm sitting here now staring at her like a girl that I iknow is no good for me but I can't get out of my mind. Sigh.........
  17. Wow, come right out the gate smokin. Nice ride and welcome aboard.
