  1. I guess if it's a new development for a metropolis dweller, I could see how small town life would be appealing.....but growing up this way got old fast, couldn't get away with anything :D not to mention, sometimes you're in a hurry yet get stopped by several folks asking how you've been since last week

Well the grass is always greener. But here, the grass -is- actually greener :-P

  2. Bay Area to B.F.E., Ohio. I have to ask, why?

Witness protection sounds like about the only reasonable rationale. ..

I heard you have really great coneys out here!

Welcome to to the Buckeye Julie. Culture shock for you I'm sure. You didn't happen to know freeohio on the barf board by chance?

BARF is pretty huge and I was lucky enough to meet quite a few but unfortunately no. And I like Ohio a lot more than I thought I would lol. I miss the beach, but the "small town" experience is wonderful. In the city you never see the same person twice. Here, I can't go anywhere without seeing 5 people I know.

  3. I can't begin to think of a motorcycle shelter without my mind just taking off.

    I have to ask...

What do you want that shelter to do for you and your bike?

    .

I never thought about electricity but that's true. I would like a light bulb and some space to work. I plan on taking my current novice level tinkering to more in depth mechanical expertise with this machine and I'll need a comfortable space to do it in. Hmm.

  4. Welcome to Notcalifornia!!! You got here just in time to see what spring is like: cold, hot, rainy, cold, dreary, sunny….well, you get the idea.

Not sure where you're located (presume C-bus) but if you get a chance, wander south to the Cinti/NKY area for some great twisties.

Won't make you stop pining for California roads, but will take some of the sting out of trading the west coast for the midwest.

And for more SW OH riding opportunities, join the Assfault Junkies forum (younger, more active crowd, race-oriented, some occasional unnecessary drama???) or LocalRiders forum (older, less active forum, day rides and week tours).

[says to self: "Why do I always note that LRs are 'older'? Makes us sound slow and boring."]

Thanks for the info! I'm about an hour due south of c-bus in the middle of nowhere lol. Going for a ride out if courthouse next weekend :-)

  5. I'll be in Anaheim for work in a couple weeks. Any details on quality routes? Also, the best place to rent a sportbike?

    Oh.. and, welcome. :)

Hey, I was born in Anaheim! But I've never ridden down there. Mostly I lived north by SF.

But highway 1 along the coast is always gorgeous. It's not always best for riding due to traffic, but it's right on the ocean from Oregon to Mexico. There's some good roads in the hills north east of LA. Remember that lane-splitting is legal in Cali! Because it's basically a necessity in the city.

  6. Hi, I'm Julie and I just moved out from California. I was 100% moto for a number of years out there (no car) and the idea of not being able to ride for months on end has not fully sunk in haha. I was a member of the Bay Area Riders Forum (BARF).

But I love Ohio so far, and love riding so "Ohio Riders" sounds like a good place to hang out.

  7. Just like an Amish barn raising. Without beards.

But I prefer the beards! :-P

I'm not as worried about thieves as I am about the elements. And bugs crawling out of my gauge cluster. I just moved from California and I know vehicles get eaten alive out here...

  8. Hi, I just bought a bike and I need a way to house it. It's sheltered currently in a rickety makeshift lean-to sort of thing and I'm looking to buy a little storage shed of some kind.

Any recommendations of a place to start looking? Well-made brands? I'd rather have something of quality, it doesnt have to be large elaborate but I want it to last and take care of my baby.
