  1. The gsxr rear swap allows you to run a larger rear tire, i.e 180. The sv has a much thinner wheel from the factory, reccomended. I dont have the actual measurements handy.

Ah ok, I'm just blind then lol. You can use the sv sensor and wiring if you crack the case, the sensor pops right out. I wired a plug into my senso wiring about at the fender level and plugged it to the oem gsxr sensor. Works the same as the Hall.

  2. Hahaha. Rosemont is literally my backyard. If you are back in the area, head over rosemount then head north and back over Feurt hill, which is just as intense but a bit faster and less travelled. Pleasant hill to the south is just as much fun!

  3. Rotor failure, sprag clutch and gears are a common failure as well.

The torque is actually not far from 300 if I remember correctly. There have been a lot of revisions in that value through the years. The nut backing and sometimes coming off is actually a common issue too. Other than that and the occasional valvetrain issue they're usually pretty solid.

Like mentioned, don't turn it backwards.

It's fixable. It won't be cheap. Message me when you get a chance.

    Where are you located?

  4. Hey guys, most of my riding is in SE or Eky/WV, trying to meet up with some friends to the west though, except im not too familiar with the area. I'm looking to stay NKY or Southern Oh between Peebles and Cincinnati. Anything tight and clean in that area?

According to google maps, it looks fun just across the river in the maysville area.

  5. It's not too bad, really all you have to do is move the solid fairing mounts on the sides of the frame down an inch or two. I just bent mine and made an extender out of 12g sheet. This effectively lowers the rearmost portion of the fairing 1.5-2in.

I literally couldn't turn my handlebars more than 30° before. My big hands would hit the fairings.

  6. Hey! Just sold my Homda BB6 so now I'm in the car buying game again. I have my eye on a BMW 330i or a Golf but I'm not sure If I'd want to subject it to what I want to do. I may just cheap out and snag 4cyl S10, but even then I may be in the same boat. The S10 is pretty dinky. Whatever I get will be driven 2 hour round trip to work each day.

I need something as a trackday transporter and to haul to a few events a year. Maybe a total of 500-800 hauling miles a year with a sub 400lb bike and light weight trailer. Maybe 200 miles of those with 2 bikes (less than 800lbs total). I know Euro cars are often used to pull trailers across the pond often. Assuming the laws of gravity function with equal tendencies on this side of the big rock, I should be good right?

What do you guys without trucks use for hauling? Or do you?

  7. Cool! Welcome back. I just finished similar mods on my '05 SV650s. Transformed the 'lil turd. I am running an 08 GSXR front end, 07 wheel, clip-ons, and rear shock. If you're keeping the front fairing you will have to do some hard parts modification to get the clip ons to clear.

Braided lines are a MUST. The GSXR brakes are still sub-par imo.

  8. Got started on the headlight today.

    Dremel with cutting disk

    Drill with 200g rotary

    Intake gasket from Honda EM1

    Projector housing from Buell Firebolt

The windshield is a modified Buell 1125r piece.

Make some brackets out of sheet metal, a little touch up here and there, and then on to the wiring.

  9. Looking good man! Maybe she will be ready for the spring Epic ride.

Thanks! It's rideable now, just need the headlight setup for the street. I've already marked my calendar for the 21st I have to finish it now lol

Yes, it does clear. By literally a papers width or a small pubic hair. I dont like it and it makes me nervous. It also grinds on super tight cornering as you can see. I plan on chopping the can down from 12" to 9" or 8" depending on how the clearance works out. This bike is stupid loud without a proper muffler. I wanted to go to a 6" can but that would be too much I think.

  10. Cool. I actually like the gold though. Black would have been better. Black is always better!

All that's left on the SV is to get the speedometer functioning. Got the magnets and holders in the mail the other day.
