  1. 6 hours ago, what said:

Not a good track for slow bikes judging from that video...lol.

Will probably try it out next year at some point.

Well, in the past we've seen some very intense 250 class battles... unlikely the repave will affect their lap times much, they were flat out all the time anyway!

  2. I got down to Mid O yesterday for what turned out to be a superb day.  Track surface temps got up to 100 so we had really good traction.  No Lifeflights (thank goodness).

After the 1 session, I came into the pits and noticed my oil pressure light was ON.  Fack.

Before getting too wigged out, I took a look at oil level.  Check.  Next I looked at the pressure sending unit .... hmm, oil seeping out of it.  Good, at least in the sense I had not lunched my engine.

But no spare on hand ... I head out into the paddock looking for fellow Duc eurotrash owners ... 1st guy I come across reaches into his tool box and pulls out 2 sending units he's welded up for just the problem I experienced.  Says, here, take this welded up sensor and give me your failed unit.

    Riding day is saved ....

Helping our fellow riders and racers .. it's how we roll.

BTW, it was really good to see Rusty out on track ... had been a while!

  3. I met Ryan somewhere along the way at nelson ledges and Motoseries.  But only in the last year did we get a chance to ride with each much (MidO).  I am truly saddened to loose a fellow rider, and a good one at that.  Keep hitting the apexes in the clouds my friend ...

  4. I had a great time racing at Mid O over Vintage Days.  Let's just say the fast guys schooled me a bit...

While walking around on Sunday, I spied Wes Cooley's superbike in the pit lane, with Wes sitting there getting ready to ride a few laps of honor.  As I was attempting to take a few pics through the chain link fence, one of the guys down on pit lane said, "come on down."  So headed down and had a few moments conversation with Wes, a really decent guy.  He had a really bad accident in 1985 and still showed some signs of the injuries.  We got to taking taking pictures of his bike and he graciously offered to have one taken of the two of us.  The bike sounded glorious going down the front straight.

There were several Japanese fellows there as well who came over from Japan.  One spoke some english and relayed to me that one of them was the former Kawasaki Z-1 lead designer and had the serial #1 of the original Eddie Lawson replica.  They got a huge kick out of Wes's old bike and knew a great deal about Pops Yoshimura.

    Great Fun ....

Planning on being there over the weekend to check out the show and lend a hand......if I have a bike to ride come the trackday Monday, who knows at this point.

Ryan, the last part of your sentence above sounds ominous ... you OK?  bike OK?

  6. A reminder to ride with our heads.  From the 6th advanced session on 6/30.  I was told that a racer struck a track day regular at the bottom of the hill; you can see bikes up against the wall in my windscreen.  At least one guy got life flighted away from track.

Reminds me of my 999S racebike ... something like 15,000 race miles on it.  3 or 4 crankcases along the way (yours will be fine, mine was built a little).  Man that bike served me well.
