  1. you may have to physically walk in there to talk to the GM. Personally, and this is just because I am nuts about documenting things, I would send the dealer a certified letter to the head of the dealer and to Honda NA's customer service center detailing the conversation you have had with the service manager and explaining why "there is no loss of value because it's a honda" is not an appropriate response to damage incurred by them on their property. Is it a little petty? sure. But if it ever gets to the point where you are considering legal action, something like that is a PR nightmare for them and a close in time letter detailing a conversation you had directly with their representative as well as detailing new complaints of customer dissatisfaction is admissible evidence.
  2. eh....the number of things I have seen regarding electronic credit card statement manipulation, esp with smaller banks and utilities providers, not really confidence inspiring. I still get paper statements (which I archive for years) but I pay online. My most recent catch was AEP. I had a problem with them overbilling, because their reader was making a mistake with his readings. My paper statements reflected this, but the moment I pointed it out to AEP they went back and historically corrected all the online statements, so if I didn't have paper ones they sent me there wouldn't be any proof of their error. I had a similar problem with a small bank credit card a while back where they had been charging at an incorrect rate and they did the same thing...so now I am a paranoid wonk about statements.

  4. some pics from last night. There was a band and some brats for anybody who bought a drink from the store or brought a bike. I get there was a conflict with the movie thing so wasn't expecting to see many CR people. See you at the next one. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/A40B0531-7C10-45C1-9523-70BBAF86A2E6_zpsouddueyf.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/9530B7AF-A7E9-43F9-866E-540F8D3623F8_zpsxnxk8zhu.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/F4C8F3C2-8733-4441-9CDF-D4096DBFB7F0_zps1fszrs4f.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/C68806F6-6FF5-46A6-96B8-C7D7220433CC_zps3lpkupeg.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/61DC5A1B-EDE5-49BC-A806-78C660FD7D54_zps8zgtpkot.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/7A39FCF4-F126-41D4-BDBD-61694B5FE777_zpsca1rfwbi.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/EB4F0D5A-E198-4626-BBAF-6227C994DCE7_zpssqclhsqc.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/nutter%20hardware%20bike%20night/2017/32C8B753-0804-433D-A26B-0F8AF7B424A5_zpsfme38vxw.jpg
  5. Cars have airbags, seat belts, and other safety devices. You pit maneuver a car there is a high rate of survival, even if the car hits something. Most law enforcement units that use it won't allow it over a certain mph or leave it to the officers discretion to do it in a way that minimizes harm. There is a shitload of training that goes into this. There is no training that considers it ok to ram a motorcyclist, because the likelihood of severe injury and death is high. It is considered deadly force. They were trying to lock this guy in for speeding, do you really think deadly force is necessary for speed enforcement? Ramming a bike with a car, the risk is high that the rider or passenger goes under the tire and you kill them. You can see this almost happen in the video, but the passenger luckily rolls out of the way at the last second. The bike certainly went under the van's tire and it's just pure luck that was all that did. I don't think this was any way intentional, its a van they weren't trying to outrun a bike with a van, maybe just keep pressure on the rider till he rode into a roadblock (which is really how it should be handled) and the officer got outbraked. BMW s1000rr, one of the most powerful sport bikes in the world. He was toying with the van, he could have poured on the coal and gotten away from the van at any time. I'm not saying he is in the right, he rides on the sidewalk at one point for Chrissakes, but that doesn't mean the officer gets to try to kill him for it. In the end this was just an accident, don't make such a big deal about defending deadly force to stop a speeder when the pursuing officer made a mistake and just got lucky that nobody was killed. The bigger crime here is how much ed hardy that dude was wearing. I honestly thought the vid was from like 5 years ago.
  6. My wife runs the car through the moo moo once a month, so machine washed. The wing held on from 2011 to 2016 through a lot of machine washes, just that machine wash they have at mag must have snagged it.
  7. So about a year ago the car was at MAG took the carbon fiber spoiler off the roof of the wife's audi. I've been lazy about fixing it.Since we went as a family to CCC last weekend the wife has now been riding my ass to fix it. One side of the adhesive let go from the body completely, the other side broke some of the epoxy off from the mounting side (and there is a chunk still attached to the roof). I can re-epoxy the broken glass, but how do I get this stuff to stick? The company that made the wing wants to sell me this: http://www.osirusa.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=OU&Product_Code=OSIR-ADHV-150&Category_Code=A38PEB It was what was on there before, and for the most part it looks like it worked ok. Still, it's $50 freaking dollars for what is just a tube of two part epoxy. One of the guys at NAPA recommended 3m panel bonding adhesive. It's half the price but I think it is the stuff people use to join 1/4 panels to cars and not a CF wing to a painted surface (I think I would have to clean the paint off the metal). I just don't know if this is the right stuff. So what do you guys think? how do I get that wing back on the car?

    so, what's the new car?
  9. Price out a new unit. When the trans in Dad's 2 door tahoe let go a brand new replacement unit was $1600. The cost to remove rebuild and replace the existing unit came out to $1600 at a very reputable NY trans shop. In the end it would have just been better to pay the 4 hours trans swap labor the GM dealer quoted him and bought the new unit.
  10. Please point to the part you found "lazy" or grasping at straws? do you not think this is news worthy? They have a "leaked" document (that they cite with link) that purports to show budget cuts to 0 of the Office of Global Women's rights. They are pretty clear it is a plan and not in action, and they are pretty clear it's a leaked document, so what's your problem? If you read the source material the "leaked document" purports to combine the agency with USAID without increasing USAID's budget which is pretty much how you kill a government agency. It sounds like instead looking at this critically and reviewing facts you are just assuming "the media" is always "out to get someone" instead of reporting on a newsworthy event. If you are always assuming slant, you aren't going to see the facts from the trees.

    Auto Loan Rates

I just did a quick check for them and on new vehicles the 1.49% rate was on a 36 month loan, 1.99% on 48month, and 2.49% on 60 month. Still low. Based on your plan you may be able to pull off the 36month loan.

    Auto Loan Rates

I don't work for them....in fact I work for a rival bank and I went with them because their rates are really hard to beat. Right now they seem to be in the middle, but they tend to run mid summer and end of year specials and if you have good credit you can sometimes pull those rates out of season. I think I saw something about penfed offering 1.49% right now on new car purchases which is a full 1/2% lower than anybody else I see in the marketplace. From an customer perspective, their security is much better than that. Actually the whole banking industry is getting a lot better about this in general, mostly because of the many, many, many government actions against the collective banks specifically addressing this. I can honestly say pre-2013 is a different world security and customer service wise.
  13. Is it? because it's an unsigned editorial which means you don't know who he or she is or where they are from. Sounds like you have a pretty narrow minded view of California. How about he (or she) is just a batshit crank and leave it at that? Well that's the age old debate isn't it? Do you exploit literal interpretation as a loophole or do you hold people accountable for the behavior a law was intended to prevent? do you really want to let them get away with an otherwise covered crime because language isn't always adequate to cover all cases? I think you'll actually find that thing you weren't aware of is what most judges balance in our justice system when writing their opinions and making decisions, especially procedural decisions. But in this case it doesn't matter because the Demon isn't violating the "spirit" of any laws: there are no hp or performance caps or requirements, the car passed safety and emissions, it passed all it's requirements, its a legal car literally and in spirit. It's not more or less dangerous than any other high performance car. The writer is just writing something crazy to collect clicks.
  14. Just remember, you are always the dumb person to someone else. however...makes this statement: then provides literally no arguments to back it up other than the "car is a drag car". His argument just does not hold water. It's an editorial so it's just one dipshits opinion and in this case it's a pretty lousy opinion. The only thing I kinda sorta agree with in all of that nonsense is this I know having the public beta test software is common, but the auto industry doesn't ask customers to crash test for them for a good reason, having the customer beta test automotive control technology is pretty risky - and the reports of customer accidents is the cost.
  15. This Thursday is the 1st vintage bike night of the season at Nutter Hardware: https://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/6077853749.html
  16. eh...maybe.....There are situations where the dealer may have marked the unit sold to VW in which case the warranty would have begun to run down even if the vehicle didn't transfer. I don't know how that works with the VW TDI stop sales order and whether VW is aware and willing to honor from the point of sale but it is a question that needs to be asked (verify the warranty and get it in writing). I just saw that there is also now a $8500 incentive for anyone who wants to lease a new 2015 TDI. Again dealers have the choice whether to offer it to the customer or pocket the difference. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1110002_modified-new-2015-volkswagen-tdi-diesels-come-with-big-discounts Audi is offering 1.9% apr for 60 months on their affected vehicles which to me seems like a pretty big FU until you realize that 2 litre Audi Diesels in the US are almost all automatic A3 wagons (all 12 of them).
  17. I've driven a 964, and I am probably at the limit for how tall someone can be and fit in these cars comfortably. I think the only problem is that I would look kinda goofy getting in and out of one but still I found it comfy when I was inside. The 996 is a much bigger car inside in some respects which is why I am looking at those. Also being an air-cooled it's probably outside of my price range (NADA lists book at mid $40K). There was a red 964 at CCC this saturday. I remember thinking the paint was pretty great for a near 30 year old car so if it the same car your pics don't do it justice.
  18. How do they beat the 95 dBa level cap for a production vehicle? Is this one of those things where the government test is easy to beat by driving by at idle in 6th gear? Good work as always Tim.
  19. The plot thickens.... so now you are dealing with a warranty repair and an accident repair under the dealer's insurance. You know how you sometimes watch the news and someone always says about some horrific event: "I just don't know how it got so out of control and complicated so fast"....well this is usually how those things start. The thing I would be asking the dealer about at this point is whether the "accident" on their lot is going to stay off the carfax report or not. If they are not going to report it (get it in writing) then it's as if it never happened, if they are going to report it - well I think they owe you something for the loss of used value from a car that has a "clean carfax" to a car that has an accident reported.
  20. those '04 Mach 1 Rims are Teh Sex!!!! Seriously, good score, esp since they were designed to pay homage to the magnum 500's that originally came on mustangs (and for some reason buicks as well).
  21. back in my day we just spun donuts in the 7-11 or Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. We didn't need a sticker to announce our stupidity to other people when they weren't watching us be jackasses. now get off my lawn.
  22. They are working on it with you because it is covered under warranty. http://owners.honda.com/Documentum/Warranty/Handbooks/AWL50465.pdf page 9: An uncorrected paint run from the factory is a defect in workmanship. You notified them and they are obligated to work with you on it as part of the warranty. I do not think paint defects are covered under lemon law so I doubt there is anything you can remotely claim to make them buy back the car - but you could certainly sue them for breach of warranty if they refused to fix the paint.
  23. considering the activity, hoon is the appropriate word. One of the ones I was at there was a guy who tried to slide sideways out of the byers lot (I'm old so I call it a fishtail, but others might call it a drift). He ended up running wide on the grass shoulder. In my head the car was a mustang, but that might be just media bias effing with my memory.
  24. Well they are in it to try and make it a success...you don't get there by being a dick to people. To be honest for something this "commercial" to last as long as it has they have to be doing something right. I attended a couple of their "cars and coffee" events at byers and here is my impression: - There is a lot of jackassery coming into and leaving the events that goes unchecked. At one point there was a crowd at the entrance of Byers to see if people leaving would hoon. - Some of the "exotic" people are unfriendly. Adds to the zero chill vibe that it has. They tend to gather in cliques and if you want to talk cars with them they aren't that receptive. - The music is too loud. All events I went to had a DJ and it was just blasting. If you were within 100 feet of the DJ it was difficult to carry on a conversation. - Sponsorship. I haven't felt this too much at the event but it seems to drive a lot of the activity. There was a nationwide table setup at one of them but it was easily avoided. The communications mention it a lot and there are banners, and if you follow the facebook feed they are always offering discounts with their partners. - All of their online photos and marketing focus on exotic cars and almost nothing else. I've been to their shows where people have brought some really interesting vintage stuff and it generally gets snubbed and you don't see photos of it on their site/fb. Honestly it's a different thing, and think it's fine that it exists, but having an event that feels like a carnival and is run like a business feels like it should be called something else. I've been to Cars and Coffee events in Seattle, Long Island, LA, and Newark, DE. All felt like the Lenox Cars and Coffee. It's literally a "branding" dispute. If he just branded it as something else it feels like it would all go away. He could do his thing and still cover the exotics stuff and then people wouldn't feel so torn about it.
