  1. So stop giving him crack
  2. AJ you probably didn't dislocate your jaw. Your jaw is a ball and socket joint and a dislocation would be extremely painful and traumatic. Your teeth wouldn't line up, you'd be drooling all the time, and you'd be doubled over in pain. Even a partial dislocation causes extreme headaches. My roommate in New Orleans was a boxer and I used to spar with him sometimes. He gave me a shot to the jaw once that caused a partial dislocation and it was an ambulance ride to the hospital and soft food for two weeks. I was lucky it wasn't fractured. You probably sprained the muscle that attaches to your jaw. Trauma to the tempromandibular joint can cause a popping or clicking and make it hard to open your mouth. Grinding your teeth at night or clenching can sometimes cause a problem.
  3. Here is a Free plan for what I think you are looking to do (or at least close to): http://myoutdoorplans.com/carport/carport-plans-free/ It will at least give you a starting point for drafting your own plans.
  4. This. Step one is finding out what your local ordinances are about structures on your property and what permits you'll need. That will often dictate not only the size and shape, but what materials, and what costs you are willing to shoulder. Off the top of my head and not familiar with UA at all it's probably going to be the same process/ requirements as a garden shed.
  5. The question I have is how much knowledge do you have already? Do you understand how air fuel mixture works? flame front? intake and exhaust gas velocity? Do you understand how things like plug indexing, porting, blueprinting, Cam degreeing etc...work to add to a well built engine? Anybody can look at a spreadsheet of a fuel map and make adjustments to bring fuel to 14:1 but knowing what you can do to modify and make reliable power, and what parts you can select to build great combinations and then tune the computer to work with those parts is the whole package. To that end I recommend you get a single cylinder engine (or in the absence of a good viable candidate a twin cyl), like a motorcycle or an ATV, preferably two stroke to start since it is stone simple. Take that running engine and try to increase the HP by 50% without the use of computers and by doing it all yourself. This will teach you how to read the signs of fueling without the aid of o2 sensors, how to adjust fuel curves by tuning a carb, what porting really means to an engine and how to do it on your own, etc....Because it is a simple engine you should be able to master the basics fairly easily. Because it is a two stroke you will learn the value of exhaust gas velocity and how to tune for resonance. Try to pick a street bike so you can use it to make drag strip passes and learn how to tune for various conditions at the track. Once you have mastered that, anything you do with a computer will seem both easy and amazing in the adjustability and control you have. For example: if you need the flow of fuel to increase in a certain throttle position, you can just change electronically how long the injector stays open at that throttle position, rather than having to reshape a carb needle by hand. One of the reasons I recommend a small simple engine, is that larger multicylinders can be really forgiving to sloppy tuning. Small engines are really sensitive to the slightest changes, where as look at how a 4bbl works on a big american v8 - outer cylinders (1&2, &&*) run slightly lean, inner cylinders run slightly rich (3&4, 5&6) and we just put up with it because the whole thing is making so much hp and torque that we don't "feel" it when we drive the thing.
  6. the average police response time in Hillard in 2013 was approx 8 minutes (7:51 to be precise). So 5-6 minutes is better than OK.
  7. I fully admit it isn't the norm, but it's not all that far from it and also not really good justification for permitting CCW on campus. A panicked person "defending them-self" is not the same thing as a trained officer. If the purpose is to cut down on risk exposure till the threat is neutralized, you aren't going to get better than the response times that you will see on college campuses by PD. The danger isn't the weapon it's the people.
  8. not all are gonna be winners. Remember this is about being goofy and fun, not being "cool" in the traditional Fonzie sense of the word. some more just for fun: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/staging/carlist/items/Fullsize/Cars/117301/117301_Side_Profile_Web.jpg http://img1.izismile.com/img/img2/20090714/short_cars_10.jpg nothing is safe from the shorty torch (even a geo metro): http://saabplanet.saabplanet.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/Saab-900-shorty-624x401.jpg http://bangshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/monte1.jpeg http://www.viralmunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/shorty-car-metro.jpg Shorty Novas are one of my favs just because you can still get 4 door novas for a lick and a promise: http://www.bangshift.com/assets/images/news/2010/Oct/nova.jpg
  9. depends on how much power you put to the rear wheels. My buddy built a VW bus shorty a couple years back and it did wheelies and stoppies. I'll see if I can find the videos he sent me tonight when I get home. If you had something like a 6 cyl powered 57 chevy you took a 3000lb car to a 2500lb car but that 250ci six wouldn't loft the wheels no matter how hard you tried. Conversely I saw a blown one on Long Island years ago that practically jumped off the ground when you put it in gear.
  10. https://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/cto/5879565609.html I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember car shows in the days before the internet but "Shorties" used to be a thing. Mostly it was really rusty 4 doors nobody wanted cut down into tiny coupes: http://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/shortybelair-e1439495646109.jpg http://www.chevelles.com/wagons/shorty-croped-71.jpg They used to be a really cheap and easy way to have a fun little cartoon coupe street freak with a $500 car nobody wanted (if you consider cutting an entire car in half easy). It's nice to see someone is still playing with these types of cars, even if the $5K price tag for something that needs finishing is super crack pipe.
  11. Heard it? he saw it and called it in at 9:52. At 9:53 the assailant was dead. https://news.osu.edu/news/2016/11/28/officials-recap-details-of-campus-incident/ But that's kind of my point - There are Security and Police (OSU has both) on campus constantly. Maybe you don't always notice them but there is never one more than a few minutes away at any given time. They are always going to have a response time better than any residential neighborhood or business district.
  12. Joe Nails it with this. If this passes this is all it brings to the table. College Campuses are usually well patrolled and already pretty secure. The most recent incident actually lasted barely longer than a minute from the first stabbing to the shot that killed the assailant, you aren't really going to improve that response time. Granted there were other factors here like fire department being onsite at the time of the incident but Police patrol of college campuses is already high and response time is pretty great (most campuses have police stations in close proximity as well, OSU has one on campus one block south of Lane ave on Kenny Rd). There is literally no real value to students, faculty, or visitors by allowing CCW on a college campus, the value is all to the politicians who can grandstand by making this look like they are doing something when they are not. College campuses are concentrated populations where accidents and carelessness can magnify the tragedy. They are also populations that are extremely susceptible to suicide (most of the top tier colleges track higher than the national average) so it is not an "ideal" environment to introduce risks that track higher along those metrics like possession of a firearm. I just don't think the false sense of safety is worth the extra risk.
  13. It's hilarious that you took my previous comment as serious.
  14. Do you surf? Yes? North shore. Get in the lineup and enjoy the ride No? Learn. Rent a board and take lessons.
  15. So...juniors and seniors then, no freshmen or sophomores. Or in Greek terms the people who do the hazing, not the people receiving the hazing.
  16. just looking for cheap - all the manuals were listed as asking price with even the used ones going for $41K. Manual comes at a premium. Besides we have to be fair to our lesser coordinated brethren. Normally I would be on the band wagon here jumping to tell you to sell the V, the bmw, the lincoln, and the lebaron (and sell me cleetus) and buy one but I know you won't. you like having a lot of different cars.

  18. Chevrolet dealers used to run Promo's in the 60's were you could get any car any color you wanted. Basically they would run the promo to order the cars and get the payments or financing secured, and then order a bunch of cars special order through fleet ordering. Those cars would come with blank paint codes on their data plates. My father bought his 1969 Camaro Z/28 in late 1968 through the promotion run by Village Chevrolet in Queens NY. Daytona yellow's paint code for the trim tag in 1969 was 76. It was available on the camaros and corvettes in any trim but only on the chevelle in SS trim. If you have a Chevelle with 76 in the paint section it's an SS. Butternut yellow was available on the regular trim chevelles and malibus but is a couple shades lighter. Butternut yellow is paint code 40 on the trim tag.
  19. well, looks are subjective and I generally don't like the way teslas look (the sedans and SUVs anyway). I have to agree, not going to be better....but will be a truck load of cash cheaper. There is a company in California called EV West. Basically make full conversion kits for almost all aircooled vw and Porsche products, plus miatas, MR2s, and Factory five 818s. http://www.evwest.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=40?osCsid=e0tv3o8qip2pupo37bndohu280 Again, Batteries not included.
  20. Orange Blast sounds like the name of a Donald Trump themed porno. Ick. Color is nice though. "Perfect Blue" is the perfect color for that car: http://www.bruth.xyz/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/2015-chevrolet-ss-perfect-blue-poll-which-2015-did-you-buy-automatic-page-2-chevy-ss-forum.jpg I mean come on...it's called Perfect Blue, can it be any more on the nose than that? Jungle Green is also hawt: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/TJ21685/ss-1-38.jpg Regal Peacock Green is also very pretty. Fun Fact, Holden makes a manual/wagon version of this car called the Calais in Australia: http://www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/holden-vf-calais-regal-peacock.jpg
  21. 1969 GTO carousel Red is 100% the same tint. It's the same paint, carries the same DuPont paint number. If you called up a paint supplier and ordered one can of 1969 Monaco Orange and one can of 1969 carousel red you would get two identical cans of paint. The only thing that changed is the name. There are other oranges out there like atomic and orange flame which are different tints. I wasn't saying all orange gm uses was the same tint, just the colors I mentioned above. Hugger orange was also offered on the 1969 SS396 chevelles as an SS color only (Daytona yellow was the other SS only color that year). It was also available on SS novas and Corvair monzas. I don't know if the full size SS cars had it as an option, but in 1969 if you ordered the car and paid upfront GM would paint it any color you wanted (fleet services special paint order). My father did that with his 1969 z/28 and it came painted a Cadillac only blue.
  22. It's been done. http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy236/Nori-Bilt/2010-09-29160847-1.jpg As do I but think about it for a second...if some classic cars don't get used more than say Golf carts, and this almost completely eliminates the operating cost of what is basically a an underutilized toy anyway, doesn't it have some merit? No more carb rebuilds because of forgetting a little gas in the bowls all winter, no more full fluid changes each season, just park in the corner on a battery tender and in spring unhook and drive to lennox. It's not for performance cars where we actually enjoy driving them for hours - just for cars that are almost parade vehicles with how much they get used. Think Model T speedster but no 5hp flathead four to constantly pour oil and gas into. I think the hardest part would be convincing classic car owners to be honest as to how little they use their cars.
  23. Some Assembly Required, Batteries not Included: http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5905297966.html I have seen a few ev conversions over the years, mostly in the beetle/porsche 914 platforms (and associated kit cars), but with the declining cost of battery technology we are probably going to see more conversions. Personally I am not opposed to this - if the primary use of some classic cars is to basically go to cars and coffee and then sometimes go to get ice cream or dinner - all local driving - it actually makes sense if you just want a classic looking car without all the hassles of maintaining an obsolete powerplant you can't get parts for. discuss.
  24. I think I am going to have to start a tribe just to play with it. I just read a great article about AMG developing a new GT4 racecar that was way more than 500 characters. Maybe they lift the limits once you get your 10 people?
  25. This is the Tsi AWD right? is it a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt?
