I am NOT defending theives BUT, did they have probably cause to rifle through everyone's shit to figure all that out?

Maybe, maybe not.  I'm all for them observing Constitutional rights.  And half of the cops don't.  But by the same token even if you never got to see your ride again, wouldn't you want to know where, who?

  2. ...but I've never been known for always doing the right thing.

I hate thieves.  REALLY hate them.  Bikes, cars; doesn't matter.  What I'm telling is common knowledge maybe...maybe not.  5-10 years back, the Ohio State Patrol, a couple of Sheriffs' Depts. descended on XXX Dragstrip.  Wound up confiscating a couple of stolen cars and trucks.  And (if memory serves me well) about 40-45 stolen bikes.  There to race.  Who would have thought?  Let's see...brought to the track in a truck or van, so no registration, license plates; no chance of getting pulled over and checked.  No money out of the racers' pockets or anything like that needed.

Oh no!  You blew it up?  No problem; go steal another.

5-10 years ago...long enough some greaseball would try it again if he hasn't already.  If you or a friend get ripped, go hunting.  Bring friends.  Lots of big mean psychotic friends.  These assholes have their own friends.

If this has already been shared, laugh and go on.  I'm old, smelly and half senile, I don't care, lol!

  4. I'm with Cincinnati Insurance.  Have all my vehicles, house, tools and other toys insured with them through an agent.  $1300 a year total, and bike's about $325 a year full coverage and extra medical.  Had 3 claims in 30 years and they pay up well.  Biggest problem is the agency; I've had a few go-rounds with them increasing coverage without consulting with me.  I've found that the agency representing an insurance company deserves to be researched; not all of them are on the up and up.  Over the years I've gotten quotes from other underwriters and none of them beat what I have.  I read where people switch back and forth all the time.  It's hard to build a good working relationship when you don't have a history with them.

Also your credit score can affect your rates.  I went through a bit of tough times about 10 years ago.  I got them to work a bit with me and finally got the rate dropped.

  5. Told you I was an old fart.

Just what do you call it then?  I'm thinking 3Ding (better?) oil pumps for old Harleys, tool pieces...a lot of riders think they're stuck with whatever the factory or aftermarket offers.  Some of it decent; some of it sucks.  After bolting on enough less than satisfactory parts, I've come to realize there's IS a better way...one of these days I'm going to get lucky and score a lathe.  Or a 3D machine if the technology advances enough.

  6. Never considered  3D ing my own parts.  Interesting concept though.  Being an old fart and not always up on the latest and greatest, is the material used like a metallic thread?  What about tensile strength?  Expansion/contraction rates between the newly printed part, and a conventional engine parts/pieces?  Could further machining, polishing be performed?  Give me time; I'm sure I can (and will) raise more questions.

Never pulled the chrome out of the casting previously, but I've had damping rods out....this is something different.  Normally there is an allen bolt running up through the bottom of the casting, and that secures the damping rod.  These are an aftermarket (RaceTech) conversion of 09+ GSXR 1k big piston forks to single sided damping rods.

Maybe get ahold of Race Tech's tech department and ask them about it?

  8. I'm 67, a veteran, retired, married and a grandfather.  I've rode pretty much since I was 17.  I do my own work on my rides except for paint & body.  Not sure just where I'll fit in or what I can contribute.  Pics are old, but pretty much represent a fair representation.  I also like to shoot my guns, do most yardwork around my house, and occasionally wrench on neighbors' tractors, mowers, whatever gets broke.

Any questions, just ask.  Now I'll shut up and read.
