  1. So we were discussing getting together for an epic ride on Saturday 6/27 @ the McConnelsville boat ramp @ 10 am.

Shall we discuss possible routes, organizing the group by pace, meal options, or poor weather?

Do we need a roll call of who will be attending?

Just figured this might be beneficial to discuss before the big day.

  2. I'm from Cleveland, but like many others here I am down south frequently! I'm always D2R and don't mind incorporating in newer riders to my plans. The golden rule, as @Tonik said, is "Ride Your Own Ride" we'll wait for you at the next turn if needed. Let me know of you want to get out on a longer whole day ride and we can work something out!

Wait; what about food? Dintcha stop anywhere for lunch?? And no pictures of it?

You know what I meant to put that in there! No no food pictures, I have to get better about taking pictures. We stopped at the McDonald's in St Mary's. There used to be some nice big trees to provide shade, but they cut them all down 😭.. The horrors!

  4. The day started off early enough in Carrollton, Ohio at 9:30 am. Muckles having decided against a long slab ride there and back decided to trailer it down from Cleveland to the Tractor Supply on route 43 North on the north side of town.

@Skinny guy was kind enough to allow Muckles to lead for a time. Muckles apparently has a knack for planning routes with closed roads.

Muckles subsequently found a handy web site for closed roads. https://www.ohgo.com/

They took route 43 out of Carrollton to route 9 south to St. Clairsville. Due to the closure of 9 farther south a detour was executed across 70 to catch 800 south. After having to double back on route 148 due to a route 26 closure, the executive decision was made to have @Skinny guy take the reins. They then followed 800 to the junction with 26.

The weather was warmer than expected at about 85*, but perfect for the carving the shaded 26 and Archers fork Rd down to see St. Mary's.

WV proceeded to be very adventurous with roads not nearly a maintained as the riders would have liked. Route 16 out of St. Mary's introduced the duo to washed out roads reduced to one lane and heavy truck traffic. Though between the obstacles there were some fantastic sections of twistie roads on the way to Smithville.

Once at Smithville they cut across a short section of 47 to 74 North. 74 came complete with a deer and tortoise Slalom race and hillbilly dodge-um practice. Though the road did not disappoint and was a blast up to the junction with 18 in Joseph's Mill, WV.

They continued up route 18 to route 180 and up to New Martinsville where they meandered up route 7 to 556. Good thing they took thier time as the sheriff's were waiting on 7 for the outlaw bikers to slip up so th6e could slap them with a gigantic speeding ticket.

Route 556 was fantastic fun up to Beallsville when they connected with 145.

The rest of the run was a repeat of 148 to 800 to 799 to Deersville, OH. they went around Tappan Lake on Deersville Ridge Road to 250. As it was getting late they decide to take 646 to 151 to 332 into Carrollton.

It was an amazing journey. Many lessons were learned and planning for the next epic adventure had begun!

Double island Road? Years ago a NC local at a small Bandit Alley rally mentioned that road. Is it that good?

I really enjoyed riding this road. Though I did come around a corner to a cow in the middle of the road. It had escaped the pasture. It was in fairly good condition though a little narrower than the more major roads. It had a nice mix of varying radius turns and elevation changes. Definitely, on my list to ride again.

Keep an eye on Sibling Revelry Brewery, there is a chance their house accountant position might be opening up soon

We'll hope you don't mind, but I reached out and sent a message to a guy I know who works there. Just to see if he's heard anything. We haven't talked in a long time but we'll see if I get a response.

    Thanks, Serptentracer.

My buddy's wife is just keeping a "log" of job inquiries. As you indicated, two "job search actions" per week is child's play. Ohio's unemployment website now warns those who are receiving benefits that they should maintain a job-search log for the next THREE YEARS "in case [claimant] is audited." So much, then, for compassion during a pandemic after paying taxes into the system for 40 fucking years without a prior unemployment claim.

    Ridiculous.

Yeah, but we don't want people cheating the system, (note sarcasm) I just my email track it for me. As it's all done online and I get email responses for each. If I have to I can print them out at some time.

Yup been on 209&208 many time they are fun. Some times gravel in the corners but some times that happens.

80 is what they call the Devils Whip we'll be hitting it but not sure if it will be in the evening or next morning so didn't put it on the maps yet. I'll have to check out that 1308

I think Everytime I'm down there there's a good bit of sand and gravel in random corners. I've just come to expect it and that it comes with the territory. I really enjoyed that double island road (1308) makes a good loop with 80. We had a lady in a suburban in front of us on a section of that road and boy was she cooking. Any faster and I would have swore the tires would have been smoking! Amazing what knowing the roads does.

536 was really tight at one of the construction stop lights a few weeks ago. I had barely enough room to squeeze my bike between the concrete barrier and the edge of the road. It's possible, but coming down 556 might be more fun.

    536 is a mess.

Thanks for the heads up, how about 255? Any thoughts?

I might be interested but like Pauly said some of 18 sucks 74 to 18 to 180 to New Martinsville is better. What route are you taking to St Marys

I was thinking about running 43 out of Carrollton to 9 to 148 West to 26 South To 537 to 260 back to 26 to Marrietta then 7 to St Mary's.

Then the WV loop which I'm fine with adapting as you mention above.

Then 536 to 78 to 800 North to 799 and around tappan lake to 646 to 151 to 164 to 644 and we could split in Kensington and I was planning on taking 30 over to 183 North.

I'm still learning the southern routes so there May be more desirable ways to go, but this is what I had mapped out.
