I think I liked cars as an escape from my crap job and crap life. I don't really need an escape from anything these days.

Not all kids hate driving, and not all new things are way better. My nephew just bought a manual GTI and after a few days said he'll never buy an automatic again. My newer Silverado's 8-speed can be a clunky, confused mess.

15 years ago I had a little Civic that I spent too much money on (relative to my shitty job at the time). I don't know if it was just the magic of being young or what, but I loved that thing and those were some super fun years. Joining CR 15-16 years ago opened up my world to a group of people out there who liked the same shit I do.. cars and shenanigans. 15 years later I own more expensive rides but I don't feel that magic anymore. It's likely from just getting older. However, 90% of the people I still hang out with are either from old CR or a friend of a CR bro, so I can still appreciate hopping on board with you degenerates back then.

All of that makes sense on something that is out of warranty.

It's technically a flex fuel L94 with AFM (active fuel management/4cyl shutoff). It obviously saves a bit of gas but it's not a reliable system, nor cheap to fix. Since you're going to slap an exhaust on there, just know it'll sound like shit while cruising if you don't have it disabled (link to the popular/cheap disabler).
