i REFUSE to read that article. this thread is gross as it is.

this comment has been brought to you by the department of redundancy department. hey brian, no ones accusing you of being unamerican, but damn man, its not like you didnt know what was going to be in this thread. thorne might not buy into the same shit i do, but he doesnt go into my "merry christmas" threads and tell me hes sick of it all. if i had a girlfried that looked like yours, im pretty sure i could find something to do with the time i spent making up that goofy story.

thats a whole bunch of comedy right there. dude ran over a bear on his bike. lollerskates.

im curious about the 4.2ghz as well. i use the 8400, and mine is at 3.8 on air. stock voltage though. my problem is that i hate it to get any warmer than 60 degrees, and under load, thats right where it is at 3.8. 4.2 is pretty dope. ive seen as high as 5.25 with a water block. thats just sick.

i was asleep after working a third shift. my pops called me and woke me up to tell me that someone had just flown a plane into the wtc. in my fogginess, i couldnt remember what the wtc was, and thought that some dumbass had just keeld over at the controls of his cessna or something. thanked him for the info and went straight back to sleep. a little while later he calls and tells me it happened again, and that the pentagon has been hit to, and then i kinda sit up. the pentagon? oh snap. dad says turn on the tv, and well...damn.

given what youve tried, it sounds to me like the mobo. sorry man. good news is that a new one is not going to cost you and arm and a leg. well, unless you want it to. try to look at your computer in a similar fashion to your car. breaking shit is just a good excuse to go faster.

well shit, i guess i skimmed over that part. ok, my revised opinion, taking into the account the sli mobo. "IF" you really want to do sli, i would not get a 9800gx2. my reasoning: the gx2 is essentially sli already. two gpus on the board, and increased ram. (thats why its so hot, btw) there are side by side comparisons out there that back me up (ask and ill try to find them) in saying that two of those sli'd together runs right up against the law of dimininshing returns. for the outlay of two of those, you could almost have two gtx 260's, which would very much outperform the gx2's IN SLI MODE. single card, its almost a dead heat between the two. buy one of evga's oc'd models, and the gtx outpaces the gx2 in almost everything. now, youve not told us what your budget actually is, so im just talking about higher end stuff. honestly, in relation to historic prices, cards can be had for damn good prices these days. (competition is a beautiful thing) give us a roundabout number to work with, and lets see what we can see. god i love that chip. im not a fanboy, but this thing is freakin sweet.

so what do al the rest of you think about this? (computer geek stuff)
Orion replied to Spidey2721's topic in Dumpster
boooo to class action lawsuits. a couple notes from the lawsuit itself. firstly, its specific to mobile gpu's (read: laptop cards) and says nothing of desktop gpu's. secondly, it makes no mention at all of what theyre suing for. damages? replacements? the fun of it? this smacks of those tv commercials that are all the rage these days... "have you or a loved one suffered through explosive diarrhea while taking enzyte? call shyster and assoc..." kind of stuff. [conspiracy theory mode] what i wouldnt be extremely suprised to learn is that intel had something to do with this. why, you ask? the new nvidia gpu, while technically made for graphics only, mated with CUDA is faster than any of intels current offerings. by a bunch, actually. theres been talk of it for a while now, but nvidia is one 45 nm chip away from being able to throw down in the cpu arena, and throw down with some serious ouch. who doesnt want that? intel, thats who. [/conspiracy theory mode] -
the 9800gx2 is nice, for sure, but you may want to get your self a breezy case or some more fans. generates quite a bit of heat, due to it being basically two cards in one. manage that, and youll have no problems playing just about anything. dont sleep on the amd ati offerings, though. the 4850/4870's are real nice bang for your buck cards, and later you can crossfire them together for some decent scaling. a word about the new gtx cards. yes, theyre expensive, but man, do they sing. i have an overclocked gtx 260 in my rug that i got for 300 bones, and i dont think ive seen anything stutter, at all. ill see if i can find a pic, but the other night i was playing crysis on max everything on my 46 inch bravia. damn near made myself sick. the other thing you get with the gtx cards is a little gadget called CUDA. ill let you look up the details, but essentially it allows the gpu to help your cpu crunch numbers when youre not busy playing games. 17700 3dmark06 score? got that. for less than a grand.

welp, you were doing well up to that point, and now i have to give you neg rep for using the worst phrase ever. sorry kid.

nb4photochoppedtimeslips a la sam. as i recall, the two lists previously were something along the lines of "naturally aspirated 4 and 6 cylinders, or 8 cylinders with less than 4 liters of displacement running slower than 12.99" or something like that, and then the fast list was "boosted, sprayed and or naturally aspirated cars running faster than 12.99". might not be exact, but i knew we had some quantifiers in there. if you wanted to be on the slow list, you had to run n/a, even if your car was slower than 12.99 on the bottle. stuff like that. anyone else remember for sure?

hmmm....thats weird. it shows up correctly on this page. someone wanna edit that for me?

i dont accept macro-evolution either. i DO accept micro-evolution.

http://community.zdnet.co.uk/blog/0,1000000567,10009272o-2000331761b,00.htm mentioned in the other thread, but i thought id go ahead and give it its own just cause i think its cool. cliffs: the thing works. on the first try. which is more than i can say for most of your rebuilt cars, which are immensely less complicated. now lets smash the shit out of some protons...

does that mean youre going to go back and have all of your other religious convo's closed? bonus points for your correct spelling of "intellectual" btw. 1. I'm not a "young earther", but neither am i someone who doesnt think that God and the Big Bang can coexist. God and Evolution exist together, which is obvious to everyone not on the extreme right or left of that argument. Who am I to decide how God does things? All we can do is watch and try to learn. 2. How is it that we "create" anything? like out of other stuff? oh, so you mean we "reorganize" things. gotcha. Heres something i read about in science class... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_mass Breaking down particles to see what comes out is no different fundamentally than grinding up a rock to see what the sand looks like. 3. If we do, itll be the coolest extinction ever. Lemmings on a global scale. edit: this statement is spot on. "Both the LHC, and the space program, are vital if the human race is not to stultify, and eventually die out. Together they cost less than one tenth of a percent of world GDP. If the human race cannot afford that, it doesn't deserve the epithet, human," he added.
