  1. The things that have stuck out to me:

There was a video of KH a week or two before the incident where he saw people leaving a CVS and he said he wished he had his rifle so he could shoot them. (The judge blocked this from the trial)

He illegally obtained a firearm and ammunition and crossed state lines (driven by his mom, and she has some responsibility here IMO too)

The judge won't let the people shot by KH be referred to a victims in court. Like, WTF are they then?

In his testimony yesterday KH said the third guy he shot at (the EMT who was carrying concealed and pulled his firearm after KH started shooting) was because he perceived him as a threat. This was before he pointed his firearm at KH.

There were other people down there with firearms standing in front of businesses that didn't have any incidents. IMO, KH is immature and made several bad decisions that led to this.

In the days that followed KH was seen celebrating with Proud Boys, flashing white power signs, and wearing a shirt that said Free As Fuck, or something like that. The judge blocked this from the trial.

The judges phone even rang in court yesterday and his ring tone is the song Trump walks out to at all his rallies, Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA (sometimes called the MAGA National Anthem). Coincidence? Sure, maybe. But the judges behavior so far has made him appear like a KH defense attorney, so add this to the pattern. Of course now the far right is putting out articles about his ring tone "triggering the libs."

I don't like how KH has been turned into some type of far right hero. He is not a role model. Was it murder? I don't know on every count. Manslaughter, probably (because I'm not buying that he can claim self defence here).

  2. I dig it. Love that color too. If you repaint it do you plan on changing the color?
I had planned to keep it this color...we'll see if I change my mind.
What are the the engines like in those? I always liked these cars but dont know anything about them.
It's not a 2JZ, but they can make decent power, probably around 600-700ish when built. There are guys that go up to 1000 HP, but you're spending a hell of a lot more and running on borrowed time. Pretty much everything for this car costs an arm and a leg, and a lot of service requires the engine to be pulled.

Since I have to take it out anyway, I want to replace everything possible to keep it reliable. Once it goes back in I don't want to take it back out.

  3. Is that a factory color? It looks really good.
Yeah, it's a factory color from 1992-1996. There were 2154 cars this color (2.42% of production). No idea how many of those were turbos. It's might sound like a rare color, but there are 13 other colors made that are more rare than this.

  4. Awesome!

    Details?

1993 Sapphire Blue Twin Turbo with T-Tops. Needs to be completely repainted, it has some small dents, but nothing major. Appears to be 98% rust free. There are a few small spots, but only appear to be on the surface, again hopefully nothing major but will need to tear into more to find out. It has the JDM front bumper and JDM tails. Does not run, need to pull the engine. All leather on the interior needs to be replaced. Everything else appears to be stock, except for some 2-piece rotors on the front.

  5. It is very cool. Some decent audio here:

    Sounds a little like Tinman's 180 degree C5 exhaust:

Check out Emilia Hartford's YouTube and Instagram for some good exhaust clips. IMO, with the 8600 rpm redline, it sounds more Ferrari 458/488-ish.

  6. For anyone voting to do this or accepting it should be thrown out of office and brought up on criminal charges.
You can that the last guy for creating the family separation policy in the first place, including losing track of who many kids parents were and where they went.

If you're mad about paying these people a settlement, then you should be mad about the guy that gave them a reason to take the US Gov to court in the first place.

  7. Anyone who believes cnn, msnbc, or fox are true news channels are idiots.

They all create commentaries for their respective parties, if you don't believe it you are truly deaf, dumb, blind or just stupid.

Oh yeah, Newsmax all the way.

  8. Inflation

    2017 - 2.1%

    2018 - 2.4%

    2019 - 1.8%

    2020 - 1.2%

    2021 - 4.05% (first 9 months, last 5 have all been over 5%, highest since 1991)

    Gas Sept

    2017 - $2.64

    2018 - $2.83

    2019 - $2.62

    2020 - $2.18

    2021 - $3.17

Yes, some things cost more now, but what did Biden do to create this? What would be different if Trump were president right now? I guess I'm left wondering how much of this is COVID-related (supply chains tightened during shutdowns, the recovery happened faster than they predicted, and now they are over stressed and still understaffed) vs permanent inflation.

In many cases it comes down to supply and demand. Many things are in short supply, so they cost more.

In other news the S&P 500 and Dow hit another all time high today. I wish Trump were still on Twitter so he could tweet to his followers about how great the economy is right now.

This... doesn't seem to support your theory that corporations passed their tax savings on to the consumer.

  9. While I don't agree with those tax cuts, I do think they trickle down.

When taxes go up the price increase trickles down to the consumer. When taxes go down the savings do not.

  10.

What does outrage me is the way the socialist..aaaa I mean the democratic party is spending money.

Can you name what new spending that has been passed under Biden that you disagree with? I'm genuinely curious.

Do you believe the Trump tax cuts that went largely to the wealthy and corporations, and resulted in massive shock buy backs with no "trickle down" to middle class workers was money well-spent?

  11. https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/23/politics/joe-biden-weekends-away/index.html

Biden has vacationed almost twice as much as Trump at the same period in their respective presidencies. I seem to remember lots of outrage during Trump also (Hence why it only took 15 seconds to find an article about it.) The only part I found surprising about all this is that the article making Biden look worse was on CNN.

I'm not surprised this is on CNN because (though left leaning) they are not the democratic propaganda mouthpiece that Trump supporters have been convinced it is. It's not the lefts equivalent of FOX News; you would never have found a story criticizing Trump on FOX.

Democrats have no problem criticizing other dems, and they will. This is what normal discourse looks like in a functioning democracy. Contrast that with the tribalism you see on the right...

FWIW, in principle I don't have a problem with the president taking weekends away from Washington. I believe there is an ethical issue when those weekends away result in hundreds of thousands to millions of tax dollars being funneled into the presidents businesses. The security of the president is a high priority, and they will have protection for life, so if that results in security improvements to a personal residence it's understandable. With Trump you also had a guy who campaigned on calling Obama the Golfer in Chief, and claimed he "wouldn't have time to golf if he's elected president," only to golf more than Obama.

[EDIT: looks like Greg beat me to most of this]

  12. That makes it ok.
My point was that he was silent then, but outraged now, and I didn't even have to point out how much the secret service had to pay to rent rooms and buy food at Trump resorts.

  13. Although they are a small percentage, nuclear and wind aren't as earth friendly as you may think. Typically when they change turbine blades, the old ones are buried on sight (due to high transportation costs I suppose). Also nuclear fuel has to be stored in a cooling bath for 10 years after it is spent (or else a meltdown could still occur like what happened in Japan a while back), and the nuclear fuel is in use for about 18 months iirc (I worked at a nuclear power plant once and was told the number, but it has been nearly 20 years).

I will say that I am surprised, yet pleased, about the solar power usage out there. I know there are programs here in Ohio to help people go solar, I would really like to with my next home.

Yeah, nuclear waste is not a good thing in my mind either, but that's also why I gave the individual percentages, with solar accounting accounting the biggest share by far. My point was, the environmental impacts of power generation in CA is a lot different than most other states.

It also appears that the new CA rule and timing of regulation on small off-road engines (SOREs) is subject to a feasibility assessment, so not a done deal yet. CA has been going after emissions for a long time, so this is no surprise. According to CA, SOREs in California contribute more total nitrous oxide (NOx) and reactive organic gases (ROG) pollution than passenger cars do statewide. Operating a gas leaf blower for one hour can produce as many NOx+ROG emissions as driving^1100 miles in a new passenger car.

  14. I honestly haven't gone down the RB worm hole. another hurdle you may face is the cost of abused old transmissions. w58's from 2nd gen supra's are what r154's use to go for a few years back which is utter silly tbh.

a straight forward route would be cd009, stock vq35 from 2nd gen g35's for better head flow, variable timing cam lock delete, turbo, aftermarket ecu, and let er rip. forget affordable 2jz and even with solstice trans now. solstice trans were 800-900 as of last week and then add in the cost of bellhousing, flywheel, etc.

did a quick search and the z31 suspension can use s13/maybe 14 suspension bits with random parts from other nissan models here and there. another research route can look into the infiniti m30/j30 suspension swap parts list. pretty much just searched z31 suspension swap. there also maybe some more options with z32 suspension bits.

the nissan, toyota, mazda suspension swap parts have a alot of options. also i think the z31 can use the j30 rear diff which is considered the big dog for rwd bolt in irs parts for nissans and front sub frame swaps to get several japanese engine options. just depends on how much you want to tear into the car honestly.

many of the 2nd gen supra folks i talk to here and there always say to spend money upfront for a car in better condition upfront and worry about the rest later.

I've seen some people putting S13/14 rear subframes in Z31's, but it takes some fabrication. It looks like at one time there was a kit available, but not anymore (from what I've been able to find).

  15. do it if you want a fun toy. alot of suspension options, cd009/z31 5 speed trans options, countless adapter plates for swaps, etc.

here is my word of caution with having a past with 2nd gen supras and 1st-3rd gen cressida's. how easy is it to find parts for heat/ac, weather stripping, trim, body panels, etc. literally had to drive down to north carolina to cut out rear quarter panels for a 1st gen cressida due to the "store" being in a rural area with no shipping option.

Suspension options actually seemed limited when I looked. If I got one I think I would eventually go RB20 (how it came from the factory in Japan). Any idea if this is easier on earlier or later years of the Z31?

  16. "these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in"

Someone needs to explain to him how they are ultimately powered and how they aren't really Zero-Emissions.

:yuno: We're living in the dumbest.decade.ever

CA also generates 55% of its electricy from solar (31.2%), wind (6.7%), hydro (8.3%), and nuclear (8.8%), with solar rapidly expanding.

  17. It's just ironic at this point that a Trump fan thinks Biden is failing as a President because of speaking gaffs and government spending. Keep in mind that the debt limit needs to be raised again because of all of Trumps spending, nothing Biden is proposing is contributing to that. All this Republican outrage over the debt limit is political grandstanding and if they fail to do anything the effects could be disatrous.

Also, Trump used the stock market as a measure of his own success, but the market under Biden's first 9 months has trounced the returns under Trunp during the same period in his presidency. (FWIW, I don't use the market as the measure of a president)

  18. Is there a study showing 700,000 Americans who had COVID have no immunity or antibodies?

    Yeah, they're all fucking dead.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=coronavirus+deaths+us

Is there a study showing that people who have the vaccine have immunity? Or have no long term health effects?

That's kinda the point of the vaccine trials that were conducted before approval.

Why is it that antibodies developed naturally are no good but if you have COVID you are immune for 90 days afterwards? How is it that the T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes from the vaccine work but the ones from COVID infection don't?

No one's saying they don't. The point is that to achieve that natural immunity a lot of people are going to die unnecessarily, and a larger number will be left with long term debilitating health conditions. All could be avoided by taking a vaccine. Although there is evidence that those with the vaccine have a broader immunity to variants compared to this who naturally fought off an infection, which is why they say to still get the shot even if you had the virus.

Not to mention the people with other, treatable conditions that are dying unnecessarily because COVID patients (majority unvaccinated) are taking up all the hospitals resources.

  19. Not claiming anything or taking a stance. Simply sharing a vidjya. Just want to put this disclaimer out to hopefully prevent assumptions from being made.

Project Veritas is a far-right activist group that has used deceptive editing in the past to create a false narrative. I wouldn't trust a damn thing they put out. They do not have a good track record of being truthful.

Also, there are over 700,000 Americans who tried for natural immunity but didn't get it, not counting those living with long term effects.

On another serious matter, we cannot understate the dangerous course the world is going on with China’s promise to “reunify” with a sovereign Taiwan. I’m worried where this will go.

While it's concerning, I'm more worried about the disaster that will occur at home if another MAGA candidate wins the presidency.
