  1. okay is this ticket worth fighting .... it's an 83 in a 65, at 5 am in the morning no traffic no adverse weather and in my celica. he has it recorded as a 1999 Toyo Celica, orgiinally had Honda and crossed it out, and it's a 1993 celica in reality. I think my speedo is off to I'm going to go see about having it calibrated because he clocked me at 83 he said and I know the whole trip I never broke 70 simply because I didn't want another ticket ... and I was the only car on the road. he seemed like a new cop too .... Good ol' Ohio troopers in Muskingum county.
  2. and WyoTech teaches us how to survive in dealerships, if at all possible I don't know i'd enjoy working in a dealership. Though I might have to the first couple of years ... any kind of real world experience and opportunities are good. I'm still in the learn everything I can mindset, I think I could be good whereever I go.
  3. WyoTechs Career fairs suck ass. you get like 10 employeers all of which are generally companies never heard of before or like a dealership from north dakota. Which would be cool .. if I lived or had any interest at all of moving to north dakotat I wanna stay in central Ohio though. and ya never see employeers from Ohio
  4. heh I'm 20 yrs old, 2 speeding tickets and a reckless op, and I only pay $564 a year on the monte SS (full coverage) . And only $500 a year on the camaro I just bought. and i'm with state farm.
  5. well for the basics on the 92 Toyota Pick-ups, though I'm not sure what to test if your speedo and tach still work, might be a bad switch. 6. Was wondering if anyone here was looking for someone who knows a bit and wants to learn a bunch more. I need a automotive job but I don't know I can fix peoples cars for the rest of my life, so before I apply for the conventional dealership job. Anyone know of any seperate (non-dealership) jobs out there even like a Pep boys or something. I've got to find a place for about $12/hr and a place I can advance. going to WyoTech, graduate in March with my technical associates degree in automotive technology. I went to the career center for electronics. And I'm taking high perfromance engine building classes on the side from Bill Fleming (hopefully by the end of the class I'll know half of what he does at least.) specializing in Chevy small blocks. I'm trying to learn more about Honda,Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan blocks. And I looooove fabricating things! (aka breaking and fixing something.) let me know PM me or IM me Cruisin Monte. heh hell just IM me sometime I'm generally bored if nothing else.
  7. hahaha it's things like this that make me thankful I don't even watch T.V. I spend my time on-line trying to figure out stupid little ways to make ANY car faster. And how much money this shop I'm building is going to cost me (Jesus fuckin Christ!) Hell my parents own a lot of the Curves for Women in the Columbus area, $200,000 parties?! please!I can't get $20 for gas, my dad tells me I need to manage my money better or get a better job. And I'm in college. hahaha I was actually told about two weeks ago that I couldn't move back home when I was done with WyoTech and that I needed to come home and start looking for apartments... oh well I guess I wouldn't have it any other way, I can't stand for anyone to help me, takes away my feeling of accomplishment and I REALLY like that feeling. would be nice to have one of those Z06 vettes though

well it's funny cause he always is responsible for the stupid questions that you wonder "Did he just ask that?" we got into alternative fuels, keep in mind we're taught how to fix cars in the basic classes not build dragsters. So he askes "Are we going to cover jet fuels and there application in dragsters and street cars." Tim the instructor writes in big bold letters "BASIC ALTERNATIVE FUELS." and says "no Daniel we won't be building dragsters or talking about jet fuels, nor will we teach you how to squeeze precious life juice from a kitten to get you any faster." and he used to raise his hand all the time and make "well honda does it this way ... " comments so about a month ago Tim is in a bad mood, just been through some things and everything Daniel raises his hand in the middle of a engine lecture and Tim look at him and annoyed says "What Daniel, what does honda do?" Dan just put his hand down and we all laughed. WyoTech honestly has some of the coolest people you'll ever meet but from what I understand there is a Daniel in ever class and there are some kids who don't get it... like we're talking about starters and alternators about 7 hours into the lecture kid finally asks "I just don't get it, like what is a magnet." i'm not even joking. Kid nexted to me slammed his head into his book and mummbled "we're never going to finish this now, why does he always have to screw it all up."

ignorance I can stand stupidity I can't. I count someone as stupid once they are wrong about something or know nothing about it and REFUSE to learn that it could be another way. example : (like you didn't know it was coming.) I was explaining to a kid in my class who is a legitimate 'know it all' let me give ya some ideas of this kid, you should all REALLY enjoy this. Drives a Honda hatchback, this is his upgrade from his Honda Del-sol he used to have, After selling his Del-Sol he had no way to get to school, though supposedly he had a 383 82 corvette sting at home, and a few other cars that are just badass ... but chooses a del-sol because it has better handling than all his other cars. Daniel was a master chef at the age of 14, he helped weld a wing on to one of the space shuttles, though he can't remember which one. He was a government certified welder and helped to raise old sunken ships. Not a bad life really, except see, he's 19, he has a bunch of perfromance shops he worked for and even tried starting his own once but he had to end up selling it so he could come to WyoTech. Some famous situations involving Daniel at WyoTech are. Daniel: "Camber has nothing to do with tire wear on a Honda, because it's absolutely impossible to adjust a Honda's camber." John : "you can do it with a camber kit" Daniel : " well yeah but other than that ya can't" Alabama : "It's absolutely impossible to time an engine! (sarcastic)" *we all laugh* McGraw : "well the monte has a 87 GTA 350 in it and a turbo-350 tranny" Daniel : "Thats so fuckin stupid why would you put a turbo on your transmission, you should switch it to the engine." (he was dead nuts serious) McGraw : "No the transmission is a type of transmission they're just called turbo 350's, like a turbo 400. They're beastly transmissions really." Daniel : "whatever, I've never even heard of something like that and I've built 350's all my life." McGraw : "How do you feed that thing?" Daniel : "feed what?" McGraw : "That high horse you ride on, you should come down to our level and try learning a thing or two." Daniel : "I can build you a 700-R4" Jerry : "No thanks Daniel I'd rather die because of a cheap whore." Daniel : "Stock for stock a hoinda can out handle any other car in the world you guys just don't even know what the fuck you're talking about because you're all so biased!!" (screaming) McGraw : "whoa whoa whoa!, I'm going to give ya the chance to redeam yourself before the wolves eat ya a live. You mean stock for stock, about EVERY other car in the world we're talking Ferrari, Porsche, Maseratti, Lamborgini, Hell Mustangs." Daniel : "ANY other car in the world a honda can beat stock for stock becau.." McGraw : "oh HonDan shut the hell up and go back to your corner, no one wants to hear ya." Justin : "and we're biased?" Alabama : "I left my waders in my truck, i'm going to have to go get them to get through all this bullshit." there ya go got my rant in and hopefully my point across, we all get such a kick out of him thought maybe you'd all enjoy it too. Let me know are we just being mean? I mean he won't listen to anyone, and i'm the first to admit I don't know jack but I'm trying to learn every day. People like Daniel just infuriate me and i'm sure there are a ton of spelling mistakes in here.
  10. generally, as we had an accord we restored. They were more worried about safety features than anything else. Everything else can be reinvented. but if the safety things are passed and then you get into a wreck and die because something wasn't done right and they passed you, than family could go after the county. made sense to me.
  11. well I was told to back them out a turn and 1/4 those are just the idle screws though. I need to get it to idle so that I can readjust the floats, because of the mechanical fuel pump and not electrical, it won't hold fuel in the line. So the vacuum has to be there for me to get any kind of accurate reading.
  12. alright recently rebuilt my holley 600 CFM 4160 carb. (my first carb rebuild) now for those of you who know what they're doing carb wise, I'm starting to think I put it together wrong. But I made sure all the gaskets met with all the hols and rechecked it. symptons : (I know B.S. trying to do this on-line but maybe ya can offer SOME advice.) it burns heavy blue smoke with black tint to it, oil and just THAT rich? won't idle unless I have my foot on it a little bit, and then it's really rough, I've tried getting it to operating temp but it's honestly feels like it's going to rattle the car apart. if someone could give me some 'standard' turns for some of the screws I just need to get it to cover about 14 miles today and then a buddy of mine can actually tune it at school. But he can't make it out here for another two weeks or more cause thats his next day off... bummed. The engine has always been real strong and the only thing I can think of for explaining the blue smoke is my piston rings are fried and it's burning oil. I can't get it running long enough to check levels but it smells REALLY rich.. Hoping you guys got something ya can give me. Because if I don't get this straightened out it's not going to make it home. (Ohio) heh if it's not one thing it's another. Thanks! McGraw
  13. Pickerington has always been a haven for us, where we run rampet, Blue/Red lights under cars or mounted no problems, cross into Columbus territory then your ass is grass if you have them on. Picktown doesn't typically pick on us for loud exhaust, lights, ride height, window tint, and then when we get tickets in Columbus for it for things we can't just turn off (window tint) typically go to court and let them know our local police have never seen a problem with it. And they let us off because the laws around where we live very so much place to place, it's almost impossible to conform to everyones laws. And of course there is the doctors excuse. If you know any doctors some of them (eye doctors) can write you a note saying your windows need to be '%' darkness in order for you to drive, it's the only safe way ... they can't ticket you for that (knew a kid who did that and never failed for him.)
  14. I never made fun of Honda's horsepower. I made fun of their ability to grab torque, and have always thought it was funny JEGs cause a torque converter for Honda a Honda Converter still those numbers are VERY impressive. congrats
  15. always best to have al ocal person do it as opposed to sending it off, a local person can optimize and 'tune' for your engine where if you send it off all they have to go on is what ya tell them, so like 'cold air intake' will give me them generalized numbers between maybe even a hundred or two hundred cfm. That comes from a friend who dealt with JET, and thats what the guy at JET told him if he wanted truely optimized perfromance he'd have to take it a local shop or he would have to know all the very specifics of the engine and support systems.
  16. I would have to think it would HAVE to have some problems especially in the chassis. Though I can't like I do admire the guy for it. You all ever see that like 1993 Toyota Celica that a guy in australia or wherever put a V-8 Twin Turbo'd engine in?? Then became afraid to drive it anywhere due to the power to weight ratio it held? maybe 'everywhere' to him isn't very far.
  17. I'm a chevy boy at heart by far but when it comes to trucks. A buddy of mine has a I think it's 03 F-250 Diesel Lariat edition, and I absolutely love that truck, he came and pulled us out of a ditch once we got the 4x4 ranger stuck up the the windshield in a mud pit (sinkhole?) and it didn't really strain much once he was able to catch traction in the bad weather. Pulled it out where a cummins couldn't. So take that for what it's worth, and hell the thing has more luxury options than anything else I've ever seen short of his 88 Lincoln Mark VII. He bought the truck because he wanted a truck but refused to give up all his luxury options. REALLY nice truck. And he drives it back and fourth to work everyday which is about 9 miles for him. However, right now I go to WyoTech and the Powerstrokes we see have been cleverly re-named Power-jokes, there front suspensions is about as reliable as a drag car in a snow storm. but again, my buddy, has never had problems with his. preventative maintence is your friend
  18. I'd like to know what the monte puts down, not expecting anything impressive but it'd be nice to know where it stands right now. today excercised me "if it's not one thing it's another." philosophy, getting seat rails from a guy on NJ, got the carb on, though it's way out of tune, and replaced the completely dead battery, and just as I started thinking "okay no more problems" noticed the passenger side flat tire... I'll be impressed if I can get it back to Ohio at this point haha
  19. got into a fight once, had the kid on the ground drawing back and hitting him, well one of the times I drew back I felt my elbow hit something, I had nailed a Sheriff right in the face, nedless to say he restrained me and put me in the cruiser, and as I thought for sure I was going to jail forever for hitting am officer. He simply said "I understand, and I should of stated my authority before approaching, we're going to leave that part of this whole ordeal, is that okay with you?" of course it was, ever since THAT officer I've had nothing but respect for all cops. I've never ran into one that was a complete dick as long as I was just curtious and polite with him/her.
  20. Hey there, I've lived around columbus for about the last 5 years, and always hear about you guys. Recently got my '87 Monte Carlo SS, and thought 'what the hell' so here I am. I'm currently out in Pennsylvania for at least another 2 months I graduate from WyoTech in March. grocery list on my car : 1987 Monte Carlo SS 1987 GTA 350 350 Turbo trany Holley 600 carb (though I'm thinking I might need bigger, still tuning on it.) and 3.73 w/ posi. 4" cowl hood 275/60/15 rear tires headers, 2 1/2" flowmasters, pipes I've got the car torn down now, redoing the interior but hopefully, by the time I get to come home it'll be all done and i'll be able to cruise on the weekends. I have a 93 Celica I drive everyday, and really like the chevy's. I'll talk to anyone about anything though I just love cars in general. [ 01. February 2005, 11:51 AM: Message edited by: McGraw ]
