  1.

I have a place in Folley beach, not my ideal location...

Have you ever been? Much better places to spend time.....

We like the Folley Beach area. This would be a vacation rental income situation if we chose to buy due to the proximity of travel time from Ohio.

We also love Hawaii and Northern California but that is too far and expensive for a second/vacation home. I have been to 46 of the 50 states and there are many wonderful places.

  2. This is tough, I just went through this recently for a car for daughter and still open for replacement for our Volvo, so much stuff and with a lot of miles and many owners.

For my daughter, I bought a one owner 2002 civic with 120,000 miles for $3500. Overall, it seems ok, however a couple weeks later, I needed to get the 5 speed manual transmission rebuild. I was pretty ticked, cause Honda are pretty durable... Not really, so a rebuilt transmission and new clutch put me right at the $5k mark. The next week, the ac quit working and I am not going to mess with it now.

I will you luck. I noticed you work for a dealership, so I would hope you could get a better used deal than some of us than on the open market.

  3. It does have aluminum rims but they are very corroded from salt damage

Wheel medic could prob make them look new but prob not worth the expense- I plan to scrap aluminum them when I am all done

Yeah, I think I will pass. Thanks for the follow up.

  4. Call your insurance company, tell them you want to put a teenager into a F-body, listen to the number they tell you, then say "Lord Jesus NO!" and buy them a Camry.

I have already spoke to them, and it is cheaper than the Volvo. I don't know anyone selling a Camry for the price point I am wanting or I would. I am not wanting any Craigslist junk, just went through that recently on the Honda.

  5. No they arent. They do have a few small differences, but nothing that effects reliability, etc...just the upper intake is different as well as the oil filter placement..

They are great cars. I daily drove mine for a few years with no issues what so ever. The 3.8 is nearly invincible if properly maintained. Has a 4l60e trans and 10 bolt out back, but a stock 3.8 cant hurt them.

I was hoping you would chime in.

    Thanks

  6. Define "kids"? Rear wheel drive may be an issue .

High school kids(senior and junior) and wife, if it is really bad weather wise, no it will not driven. Our 850 just died at 225,000 miles so I looking for a replacement.

I have 2003 civic for my daughter which I bought recently used and turned out to be a pain in the butt. Had to get the transmission rebuilt which wasn't expected. Only considering the Camaro because I know the history of it and my friend keeps his vehicles in great shape.

  7. The fbody 3.8 and W body 3.8 are different. Also only major down fall is no one wants a v6 fbody. Daily in the winter esp for a newer driver will not be fun either.

I didn't know that, so entirely different.

  8. Looking at a 2000 Camaro base with a v6. Has a little over 100,000 miles and is in excellent shape. This would be a driver for the kids. The car has mods so it looks like a SS(t tops, wheels) and isn't driven in winters. It it my coworkers and friend, so fire away on any possible issues the car could have or develop.

I am considering it because the v6 seems to be good in terms for the kids and reliability. My dad has a Buick with the 3800 engine near 300,000 miles on it, that is why I may consider this.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  9. Park it with a full tank and fuel stabilizer. And don't move it or start it till spring. Starting it "every so often" is actually bad for the engine, after about a week or so it's a dry start with basically no lubrication present.

As far as smell and keeping critters away, bounce sheets actually seem to work well.

I agree to this and include Irish Spring soap and include some mouse traps too.

  10. I had over $2000 in paint and materials when my vette was painted a couple years ago. This was the top of the DuPont line. Painting fiberglass/plastic is a bit more challenging than steel. I agree with your ability you may want to look into doing it yourself. It is not hard just takes space and time.
