  1. Angels Envy, Elijah Craig and Knob Creek Single barrel are my favorites so far in my stages of getting into this.

Yes, these are very good choices.

  2. Looks like I’ll be going on the Urban trail in July too. From what I’m reading Louisville is one of the worst places to get the rare stuff.

There are many options like the Liquor Barn in Louisville to pick up Angels Envy/Buffalo Trace and maybe Blanton’s. I picked up my Blanton at a small store in Louisville and paid quite a bit for it. The best tour in my opinion is the Buffalo Trace Distillery, no cost to attend and free samples. I also like Woodford Reserve and Bulleit Tour and bourbon, which are easy to find in Ohio.

  3. This is a good thread, yes I enjoy bourbon went on a trip on the trail a few months ago and invited with another group to hit it again in July. You need to go to Indy/Kentucky for the good stuff like Blanton, Eagle Rare and Angels Envy cause the supply in Ohio is very limited. For the record Opa in Delaware has a great bourbon selection and the Lizardville does too for the dine in places.
  4. Very cool, project. I have an 87 and been through some repairs of it. I bought my mine from from my father in law around 20 years ago. My is mostly original and the repairs I have done where the normal maintenance items. My 87 has around 68,000 miles on it, how many miles are on yours? Seems like you have a heavy list on the do list.
  5. There is one being built on Orange Rd and 23. The sign went up a couple weeks ago. I agree with what others said, I would use the money and build a barn or upgrade to a property where I can enjoy my hobby at my house. It takes too much time to drive to another location, when I can just walk out to my shop.
  6. I live in the country too but got a visit from the Franklin County Engineer over a 5-foot driveway addition. Pretty sure some busy body decided to report it based on the way the conversation went, and the fact he showed up less than 24 hours after Sam did the excavation work.

The reason I say something is because the exact words he used were "anytime a driveway is added or modified you have to have a permit."

Take that as you will but I would double check before you do anything. Guy down the road from me put a driveway in the county didn't like and they put a guardrail up around the end of it so he couldn't access it or use it. Great use of taxpayer money right there :dumb:

Yep, I had that issue too and still dealing with it in Franklin county.

  7. Yup, I'm in less than $4k so far, it's a steal for these things. Interior is the next job to tackle but I've got a move to Texas coming up soon.

I tried to get video of it, sounds mean, but my phone has some pretty terrible audio.

Excellent, that even makes it better! I always loved the 928s, however, I am at the stage of life I am not wiling to take on a project like that. Thanks for sharing!

  8. http://www.saturnfans.com/cars/what-spaceframe

    from that link:

So it's not a "true "space framed" framed car. The S was a unibody car with an exterior roll cage that they hung all the body panels on, and the L was a monocoque with space frame bracing.

Those cars came out at a time when the exotic's were also toying with monocoque space frame hybrids and I imagine this is GM's marketing pushing the buzz word "space frame", because raceccar, when it really wasn't a true space frame in the pure sense. They did this with the Fiero also prior to the Saturn and do you know how much of the Fiero uses a "Space Frame"?

    This much:

Now do you know what GM built that does have a true space frame and not a hybrid monocoqe/spaceframe? here's a hint:

I knew my C4 was ahead of its time, hopefully this drives the price up on it and I will sell it.

    :)

  9. I agree the collector car market has gone soft. I still have one for sale(78 Vette) and don't care if it sells or not. I think the younger generation doesn't really care anymore and the old farts aka our parents are done spend the big money on them. The people buying at auctions are the super wealthy and not the common person.

The day of the car investment is gone(I am sorry to say). I will still continue to purchase ones that interest me, but if I break even over the time with it, that is my goal. I still have many cars and believe if I sell today, I will still make some very good $$ on them. I bought them at the right time(years ago) and performed most of the labor on them.

My focus now is real estate.
