I have a 6 year boy and a 5 year old girl( 15 months apart). I have been busy with the kids. It was tough in the beginning with both kids, between balancing raising a family, work and running a family business, I couldn't find the time for several of my hobbies, so I stored the bike with several of my other cars.

Last year, I was about ready to get back into the bike thing, but my wife's cousin killed himself last year in Gahanna on his CBR trying to outrun the Gahanna police.

That brings me up to this year, with gasoline being expensive as it has been, I decided to do my part by conserving fuel(as least offset what I burn in the vette).

I am planning to hit the bike nights, etc. My brother and several friends have multiple bikes, my brother has some rare Ducati 998 Mono and one of my good friends has over 100 motorcycles (most are in excellent condition and the others are restored) so I will be out on the old Intercepter.

  2. My bike is ready. I will pick it either Friday or Saturday. I will find some time this weekend to clean/wax it up and hopefully on Monday hit the BMV to get a plate and I will be riding again..

I like my cars, but the bike is a whole different thing.

That is around the market value on the 86($7000). If it is a late 86 with the aluminum heads it might go for a little more. He will sit on the car for a while if he thinks he will be able to sell it for $10000.
  4. I took my bike to my friend's shop and I should be getting it back around 2-3 weeks. I havent rode my bike in 6 years and the carbs are gum'd up. I have too many things going on, so i farmed the V-4 work out. I am getting the carbs clean'ed/rebuilt and a new rear tire and all fluids changed. I cant wait until June....

I agree with Buckeye. However, it is great your bud has a chance to do something he likes to do.

The porsche... $200 oil changes every 3k miles (includes labor), $410 maintainance every 15k miles (includes labor), $850 maintainance every 30k miles (includes labor), $1200+ for tires every 30k miles, and with gas prices as current... about $120 in gas every month (accounts for more consumption when sprinting) Now for the Evo... $60 oil changes every 3k miles (includes labor), service needed every 60k miles for estimating 3-500, and monthly gas estimated at 180-200 (estimated consumption with mods NOT stock)... as for what I want out of the car? I want everything the 911 has but I want it faster, in fact I've been trying to talk to dealers and get a 96' or 97' 993 Twin Turbo but its a bit hard to get a 20k loan for an 19yo. :(

You either need to sell the car or do some of the work yourself. I bet that Byer's or MAG loves it when you come in.
  7. I would try Vette Brake Products to see if they are anything better, or hit one of the CorvetteForum sponsors.

FYI, Mid America Corvette is having their spring swap meet I believe on April 2. There is a Corvette swap meet up in Lima this weekend; there might be some vendors with some new tie rods there. Unfortunately, I can’t go to either this year.

  8. My brother has a 87 911 Carrera, he re-built the top of the engine last year and had a guy in Powell hone the cylinders. This guy in Powell works out of his house on Porsche's. He does machining and supplies parts. He used to work for one of the big Porshe shops in town and since work from his house. He is quite busy. I will give my brother a call tomorrow and get his number. If you are looking to sell, please PM give me with details.
